Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

Light sighed at Riku's plea, her arms coming unfolded as she decided she had no choice but to obey his orders. Again. "I'm just touchy right now," she said softly, though she knew that Riku would need more information than that. There were always times that girls would be touchy, but this bad? No, something was clearly up, and Riku knew it.
Riku ran his fingers over the back of his silver hair, opening his eyes to look at Lightning. He doubted that was it; he'd seen her touchy before, and this was past that point. He didn't say anything, no longer wanting to come off as harsh if that was it. He just wanted her to talk to him, like they should have been able to do. He hated that he had to beg her to even do that.

Lightning kept her eyes shut, starting to reveal some touchy details from her past. "I hate birthdays," she said softly. "Last year on my twenty-first birthday, Serah revealed she was a l'Cie to me, and that she was engaged to Snow. I refused to believe her and chased her out of the house. ...It was a bad day." But that wasn't the only bad birthday she had. She had enough tragedies on her birthday that made her feel like she was cursed. And those around her were the same.
Riku lowered his hand at that, his eyes resting on Lightning in silence. That was the last thing he expected to hear... But why would Serah tell Lightning on her birthday? Especially about the l'Cie thing? Either way, he knew he would never fully understand where Lightning was coming from, but he got the gist of it. Her birthday was ruined by a curse and some bad news.

"The fire that killed my parents in Radiant Garden happened on a birthday too," Lightning continued, her hands curling into fists by her sides. "And my other mom died on my fifteenth birthday. I hate birthdays, Riku. I hate them." She swallowed, feeling the emotions wanting to surface. But she wouldn't let them. She was used to facing the tragedies now, and she didn't cope with them by crying. She coped by punching something, or someone, as hard as she could.
Riku blinked, his eyes widening before softening. He naturally took a few steps forward, wanting nothing more than to tell Lightning it would be alright. But how could he? Every time that day came around, it was spent in mourning and looking back on ill times. It was never celebrated, and he doubted it would ever be.

Lightning looked over at Riku then, her eyes hard and defensive. "So go ahead and yell at me for pushing people away for wanting to celebrate that day. Yell at me for not telling you about my birthday because I knew you'd want to celebrate. Do whatever you want with what I've given you, but don't you ever start thinking that day is meant to be celebrated." She wouldn't do it. She refused.
Riku stayed where he was in the middle of the room, not moving. He only blinked, not knowing how to respond to any of what he'd been told. I'm sorry, he thought silently. He was upset with her for not being honest, and he felt like she never showed any gratitude. But...she had good reasons for her actions. Her life was a wreck. Worse than his.

Lightning lowered her head, shutting her eyes again. "I'm a curse," she concluded weakly. Everything bad that happened in her family happened on her birthday. Out of all the days of the year, the worst things always happened on her birthday. Granted, she didn't turn into a l'Cie on her birthday, but it was still the day after, so it counted for something to her.
Riku shook his head, taking another step forward without thought. You're anything but a curse, he thought. You're a blessing. His blessing, and Serah's too. He knew that she at least thought along the same lines. Without Lightning, their lives wouldn't be the way they are now.

Light heard Riku's step, but she didn't bother saying anything else. She got her point across already. ...But then, she did think of something else to say. "Serah doesn't know," she said quietly. "She doesn't know that Radiant Garden happened on my birthday, and I lied and convinced her Mom died on another date to get the idea of being cursed out of my head. But I can't ignore the truth now." Those things really happened, and on birthdays.
Riku didn't move after that, his eyes staying on Lightning for another second before he looked away. Light was never going to tell Serah, was she? That was what he assumed. She hardly told him.

"...I go through this every year," Lightning revealed quietly. "Other years, I've pinned it on other things so Serah doesn't ask questions. Now she and Snow just think it's the l'Cie thing. It's a big part of it, but there's much more to it than that. But don't worry. The feelings always fade away after the anniversary passes." So Riku didn't need to be concerned about this affecting her in the long run. She'd be fine again in a few days.
Riku shook his head again, and he crossed the room to close the gap between him and Lightning. He saw that she was still leaning against the doorway, so he turned to stand in front of her. "You're crazy to think I won't worry," he said softly, lifting his hand to sit on her shoulder. He would worry, because he loved her. If she was hurting, so was he. It was just the way it worked.

Light didn't bother opening her eyes, knowing she should have expected a response like that. "It'll go away in a few days," she repeated softly. There was no need for Riku to obsess over this. And the last thing that she wanted was for him to try and set things right. She accepted that some things couldn't be corrected.
"Lightning..." Riku said softly, keeping his hand on her shoulder. "I understand that those are reasons to ignore that day, but...it was when you were born. How can you ignore that?" He wasn't pushing her to celebrate; he was just asking. He wanted her to be happy, and he didn't want her to have to fear that specific day every year.

Lightning shrugged. "There are some things you just do," she said softly. Ignoring that she was born that day, or rather, ignoring that her birth was a reason to celebrate despite the mourning, was something that she trained herself to do. There were a lot of things that she had to do just to survive, and even if they appeared harsh, they allowed her to make it to today.
Riku shook his head slightly, though he knew that wouldn't do any good. Nothing would change Lightning's mind. He lifted his other hand to touch his fingers to her chin, gently starting to lift her face so she could look him in the eye. He wanted her to look him in the eye when she answered his next question.

Light opened her eyes when Riku started lifting her chin, knowing that he was trying to look her in the eye. She wasn't sure what showed in her eyes, but she didn't bother putting up a mask. Riku always saw through them anyway, so what was the point of putting up a wall now?
Riku kept his fingers underneath Lightning's chin, his eyes on the pale blue he loved. "...Are you sure you're gonna be okay?" he asked softly, needing to know the truth. He had to know. If she wasn't...he really didn't know what he would do.

"Mm," Lightning hummed with a small nod. That was an easy question to answer. She would always be alright in the end, and especially when it came with anniversaries like these. She was just glad her birthday this year went down without a hitch. Nothing bad happened that day or the one right after it, so she felt like it was easy sailing from this point on. Especially now that she had Riku off her case.
Riku examined Lightning's eyes, seeing that they never moved from his when she answered. "...Okay," he finally said, lowering his hands from her form. He believed her. But if she ever needed anything, he was there.

Light nodded faintly again, realizing that her fists had loosened over time. The situation remained, but seeing that Riku was invested in her enough to stick around even when he had no reason to was encouraging. "...I love you," she said softly, glancing from his chest to his eyes. She hoped he knew that.
Riku's eyes remained on the face he wanted to see every day, not saying anything for a few seconds before he responded. "I love you too," he said softly. He always would, no matter what. Light's pain was his pain.

Lightning nodded faintly, standing on her toes a little as she leaned up and gave Riku a peck on the lips. But then she returned to her previous position, her hands loosely by her sides. She was over her emotions for now, but she did feel bad that Riku didn't think she wasn't appreciative of all he did for her. She thought she had been showing it, but apparently she hadn't.
