Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

Riku chuckled softly at the look in Lightning's eyes, his thumb roaming over the skin of her hand. "Get some sleep," he encouraged gently. They would be leaving soon, and he didn't want her feet dragging while they were out. The enemies could take advantage of that.

Light's smile dimmed, reality setting in with Riku's words. Right. Tomorrow, we go back to fighting. She nodded faintly to him in response, letting her eyes flicker shut as she remained on her side and facing Riku. Sleep sounded good, just as long as Riku was by her side. But she doubted that he would get up and leave in the middle of the night or anything stupid like that. He knew she would just follow him.
Riku gazed at Lightning for another moment before lifting her hand to his lips, planting a small kiss there. He then moved her hand to his chest, the young man still resting on his back. He closed his eyes as well and allowed a heavy breath to leave him in relaxation. Finally, he and Light got the chance to rest peacefully.

Light felt Riku's strong heartbeat beneath her fingertips for a few moments, the beat reminding her that both of them were still alive. Still able to feel, still able to love. She would fight for a future so that things could stay this way. Exhaling a soft breath, the soldier managed to drift off to sleep within a few minutes.
Riku managed to doze off for a few hours, his breathing even as he rested. He dreamed of nothing, only darkness surrounding his unconscious because his sleep was so deep. It was okay, though, as long as he got his rest.

In her slumber, Lightning had curled up closer to Riku so that her face was against his side. Sleep always made a person face certain things that they didn't want to face in reality, and in her case, it was the full extent of her grief. This was the only time she would give herself permission to release this grief, even if she wasn't fully aware that she was actually starting to cry in real life.
As always, Riku's senses were on high alert, meaning he sensed an off vibe in the room. It woke him up slightly, as did a few muffled whimpers. He opened his eyes, the room completely dark now as he turned his head to check on Lightning. She was closer to him, curled up against him....and crying. "Oh, Light..." he said sadly. He turned on his side to face her, wrapping an arm around her to gently rub her back. She must have been having nightmares, but he would try his best to make them go away.

Lightning felt Riku's warmth smother her, though she was a little too out of it to realize why he was holding her. She simply accepted it, her hand that was on his chest staying there against it but curling into a fist now. She wasn't having any bad dreams; she was just very, very sad. All the people who died in her life, all the people that she was powerless to save...She missed them all so much.
Riku ran his hand over Lightning's back slowly, keeping his eyes on her pink hair in the darkness. "Shh," he shushed softly. "It's okay." Whatever she was upset about, it was going to be okay. He would help her get through this; he would stick by her, just as she stuck by him when he was in Darkness.

Lightning heard the soft words that were spoken to her, also feeling Riku rubbing her back. Why was he shushing her? She tried to calm her breathing so that she could hear, but when her breaths were so shaky and choked up, she realized what was going on. The feeling of being startled only lasted for a moment before she simply accepted it, along with Riku's comfort. She nuzzled her face against his chest, groggy but awake.
"You're alright..." Riku whispered gently, ducking his chin to plant a kiss in Lightning's soft hair. She would get through this, and if she didn't think she could, he would encourage her to keep trying. He suffered for a long time about his past, and she was probably going to do the same some time or another. He would be there for her when she needed him.

"Riku," Light murmured, feeling two more tears leak out of her shut eyes. She was sorry that she woke him up; she hadn't realized how hard she had been crying. But the dark of night hid her tears, or so she figured. It was best to release her grief now and not during the day, when others could see her. She just hoped Ansem didn't find out about this; she didn't need him knowing how bad he got to her.
Riku kept his face in Lightning's hair, his hand continuing to run up and down her back. "It's okay," he said again. She could get this out now; it didn't matter what time she did it, really. Riku was going to comfort her regardless.

Light nodded faintly against Riku's chest, though she did open her eyes now. She rarely cried, but Riku was the one person she trusted who would be able to handle her when she was grieving like this. "I hate this," she murmured, referring to the grief. It was unfair. She coped with all these deaths a long time ago but now all of them were brought to the surface again.
Riku pulled his head back slightly, looking down at the person he loved. "I know, baby," he whispered gently. He didn't like it either, especially for her. He hated seeing her so sad and grieving. It was something he never wanted to see...ever.

Which of us gets the honor of dealing the final blow? Lightning thought bitterly, nearly saying it aloud. But that would be pushing aside the grief for anger. She couldn't do that this time; the anger would turn too intense. She would be reckless. "I miss them all," she said softly after a few moments. "So much..."
Riku closed his eyes at that, pulling Lightning closer. "They've never really left you, Light," he said softly. They were always lingering within her, inside her heart. The memories and all were what kept those people alive.

Lightning shut her eyes, her arm wrapping over Riku's waist instead of pressing against his chest. "You know that's not the same," she murmured. Each person impacted her, and in that way, they lived on through her. But it was different than having them by her side or in front of her, leading down the path that she was meant to take in life.
"You're right, it's not," Riku whispered in return, recognizing her point. "But would you rather have them in that sense than not at all?" They were within her forever, but if not, they would be gone in the same sense. He believed it was best that she kept them in her heart than let them go, never grasping them and holding on to the memories they graced her with.

That depends, Light thought to herself. If they weren't with me now, would the pain of missing them go away? The answer was the same that she transmitted to Riku by shaking her head faintly: no. She wanted them alive in some way; them showing impact in her life was her way of showing honor and respect to their lives.
"Light..." Riku breathed, lifting his hand to cup the back of her head. He felt awful that she was seeing things this way, but he could come to some sort of understanding. He would never understand completely, but it was enough that he could comfort her all the same.

Light heard disappointment in Riku's voice, and she realized then that her answer came across in the wrong way. "I meant that I do want to keep them this way," she murmured into her boyfriend's chest. She hadn't meant to say that she would rather have no attachment to them at all. Grogginess must be getting to me.
Riku nodded slightly, kissing Lightning's hair again. "Be happy you at least have that," he encouraged gently. Some people couldn't even accept that, since it hurt too much to remember other people they once knew. But...Lightning could cherish it, because through her, they lived on.

Lightning was surprised when her eyebrows furrowed at what was meant to be encouraging. Something about those words just implied that she wasn't grateful that she had so many good influencial people in her life. Or the simple fact that this was coming from Riku, who never lost somebody (as far as she knew). Where did he get the right to say something like that? He didn't understand the pain. He never would.
Riku kept his eyes closed, his hand still in Lightning's hair as they lay in the darkness. It was the middle of the night, and they were both exhausted, but he was going to stay up with her. She needed him, or so he liked to think. He was going to be there when she needed him.
