Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

"Yeah," Riku said with a small nod. He did say that, when he was trying to soothe Lightning back in Gran Pulse's Valhalla. It had been hard to convince Lightning of that, but...maybe he had. "Am I...in her heart?" He looked around, seeing the very small amount of light above from where he had fallen. And then he looked to the broken platform he was standing on. It was falling apart, and it instantly made him sad.

Serah hummed and nodded, her long pink hair moving on her shoulder as it always did. She followed Riku's gaze down to the platform, seeing the numerous cracks that caused his sad face. "It was worse than this before," she said. "For a moment, I thought it was going to shatter. But you remembered what I told you before, didn't you? That Lightning needed you to face the grief head on with her." Something happened to keep her heart from breaking, and Serah assumed it was that moment that saved her.
Riku lifted his gaze to Serah again, nodding a little. Of course he remembered. How could he forget something so important? He was always going to be there for Lightning, but the fact that Serah told him a while ago that he had to be by his beloved's side to face the hardships? That was only more encouragement to be with her through everything.

Serah knelt down on the platform, fingering one of the cracks. "Lightning will be okay now," she said, though she was referring to something specific. "She won't fall into a dream like that again." Working together, she and Serah managed to break through Caius's curse. "Tell her that when you wake up." Otherwise, Lightning would be afraid to sleep again.
Riku watched Serah from where he stood, quite a few yards separating them. "...She isn't hearing any of this?" he asked. This was her heart...so shouldn't she have been experiencing it too? And why was Riku here, of all people? What was so significant about him that he was the one who had the ability to dive into Lightning's heart?

Serah shook her head softly, her expression sadder. "No," she said softly. "She can't. Only Keyblade wielders are able to come into a person's heart like this and see what it's like." And also...Lightning couldn't feel Serah's gentle nudging until the dream when Serah was able to blend in with the other beings of Lightning's subconscious. Hopefully that would change now. As Serah sent her sister back to reality, Lightning seemed to realize that Serah was really inside her.
Riku frowned, taking a few small steps over as he looked down at the platform. He stepped over a small crack, which gradually spread until it was a couple feet wide. "It's...not pleasant," he said, referring to the sight before his eyes. Lightning's heart was shattered, and while Serah said it had gotten better, it still wasn't okay. Maybe he wasn't doing a very good job, but then again, when did he think he was?

"It's not," Serah agreed quietly, following Riku's gaze to one of the larger cracks. "But I guess that's to be expected. After seeing so much death, mine opened up a lot of old hurts." She deeply wished that she hadn't caused her sister grief. She was sadder about that than the fact that she died, because she accepted death even while alive. As soon as she got her first vision, she knew it wasn't likely that she would survive. But Lightning would. Serah and Riku would make sure of that.
"You knew you were going to die," Riku said softly, stopping where he was and turning to look at Serah. He remembered how she said farewell before she and Noel left, and she said "goodbye," not "see you soon." Serah knew that she wouldn't make it out of this alive... Was it her last vision that killed her, like Noel said?

Serah's eyes softened, her gaze remaining on the ground. "I didn't know it for sure when we said goodbye," she said quietly. "It was just a feeling. Once I got my first vision, I knew what that feeling was about." It was a warning that she was going to die...When she realized that, she pulled herself away from Noel for a little while and cried about it. But her resolve returned quickly and they continued on their journey to stop Caius.
Riku tilted his head a little, eyes soft in sadness...and concern. Serah was gone, but her spirit was still sensitive. "...Noel said it was your last vision," he shared. Was he right? Noel was the last one to see her alive. "What did you see?" Riku could guess that it was the awful future they lived in now. How couldn't it be? Such a big change in the timeline had to have done it.
  • Author
Serah looked up at Riku, eyes pained with sadness. "This reality." Where the chaos came and distorted not only Gran Pulse, but all the worlds. She was so sorry this future came about, even if it wasn't her fault. She and Noel had been forced into killing Caius, and Noel hadn't known that killing him meant destroying the goddess. Even if he did know, it wouldn't have made a difference.
Riku hummed softly, lowering his gaze to the stained glass platform. He figured as much, but he was hoping it was something different--a future that was brighter and full of happiness. But...he guessed they had to make that future themselves.
  • Author
"That doesn't mean another future doesn't exist, though," Serah added more optimistically. After all, Serah saw a lot of different future when she and Noel were correcting paradoxes. Just because this one unfolded didn't mean that there wasn't another future waiting to occur. But this time, Serah wouldn't have a hand in it. It was up to everyone else to bring that about.
Riku nodded, keeping his eyes on the platform as he started walking again. He saw all of the cracks, stepping over a few until he was closer to the colorful glass near Lightning's head. "I'll do my best to protect her, you know," he said, speaking of the only Farron left. Riku would protect her with his life. "You can count on that promise." He lifted his eyes to the youngest sibling, his gaze resting on her and realizing that he was closer to her than he was a few moments ago.

Serah smiled weakly, nodding and allowing her gaze to lock onto Riku's eyes. "I know." Lightning wasn't alone like she had been a few years ago. She had people that she could depend on now, and one of the most important of those people was Riku. If Lightning was going to fall for anyone, Serah was glad it was Riku. Her sister deserved such a kind man by her side.
Riku smiled a little, his smile incredibly weak. He loved that he got to see Serah again, but...it was hard to accept the fact that she was gone. But it was hardest for Lightning and Snow, he knew that. Riku wasn't sure how things with Snow would go, but he would do his best to mend Lightning's heart. Was that why he was here? Was he supposed to somehow mend it, from the depths of her heart?

Serah's small smile faded, not necessarily because she was sad, but because she was serious. "You know what you need to do?" she asked softly. Did Riku know what he needed to do in order to heal Lightning's heart? It wasn't anything supernatural. A heart was a complex thing. It was both shattered and healed by people. Riku's abilities as a Keyblade wielder would have nothing to do with his ability to heal her sister.
Riku shamefully looked down, his smile gone now that the question was asked. After a second's hesitation, he shook his head. No, he didn't know what he needed to do. He knew he was here to help mend Lightning's broken heart, and he was trying to do that anyway. It healed some, and that was good, so was he doing something right?

Serah took a step closer to Riku, setting a hand on his arm in silence. She had a physical presence in this heart, and that was why she was able to touch him. But it wasn't the same as existing in reality. It was a hard feeling for her to explain. Riku's feelings, however, were evident. He had no reason to feel shame though. He hadn't coped with anything like this before.
Riku glanced over at the small hand on his arm, though he then lifted his gaze to Serah's face. Her spirit represented her well physically; she was the same Serah he remembered: shorter than him, with the same gentleness that he always saw when she was visiting or he and Light were with her family. But...he couldn't exactly be happy. She was gone, and this was most likely the last time he would ever see her.

"Don't let her retract," Serah said quietly as she gazed at her hand. "If she does retract too far, it'll be hard to get her to come back." Serah told Riku something like this before, when Lightning was retracting into the persona of Rose instead of facing emotions. In this case, she'd pull herself back into grief rather than face it if nobody was there to face it with her.
Forcing myself upon her won't work either, Riku thought silently. He would do as Serah said and keep Lightning from pulling away from him, but...he didn't want to smother her. He knew that was one thing she hated most.
  • Author
"I don't have time to explain all the ways that she copes," Serah stated softly. "So you'll need to ask her how she coped in the past." Most of Lightning's coping wasn't healthy, but there were times that she was able to cope with the grief in an okay way. With Riku's help, Lightning could figure out what she needed most and Riku would provide it for her. Riku understood a great deal about Lightning, but this was still going to be a challenge.
Riku nodded, humming softly in understanding. He would do as Serah asked of him. As for what Lightning was doing now, he couldn't help but wonder. Was she awake and worrying about him because he wasn't yet? Or was she still sleeping?
