Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

The next morning   Riku lingered in the living room as Lightning's guests talked on the sofas. It was the day after Sora and Kairi's wedding, and now that the event was over, everyone was heading ba

Riku found a towel in one of the bathrooms, coming back and silently starting to ring out the ends of Lightning's hair. He did it gently, since she wouldn't respond. That was alright. He would give her a few minutes to compose herself. He would wait.

Lightning lowered her head, though it didn't disrupt what Riku was doing. Whether the slight tremble she held was because of Serah or the cold water, she didn't know nor care. "Don't bother," she said quietly, referring to Riku drying her hair. She didn't care about the hair either.

Riku stopped what he was doing, looking at Lightning for a moment, but then he draped the towel around her shoulders in silence. What was he supposed to say? Snow said it for him, surprisingly. Serah (or Lumina) was wrong about everything. Lightning wasn't Darkness. There was no way she could be after all the good she did.

Lightning automatically grabbed the edges of the towel, wrapping them around her front more. Outside the window, the rain continued to flood the city. It's because of me. I know it is. Because she was too distracted to even think about having hope at a time like this. With Riku beside her, she wanted to make him not worry, but she had no clue how to do that. He would worry as long as she did. And she would worry until she had some answers.

"...Snow was right," Riku assured the woman he loved, gazing at her lap. He wouldn't look directly at her, as to give her some privacy. "If Snow can look past everything and realize Serah's lying, then he's telling the truth." Snow wouldn't lie about something like that, especially if the ridiculousness came from Serah.

"Right," Lightning repeated for at least the fourth time. But even she didn't believe it. She glanced over at Riku only long enough to notice that he didn't grab a towel to dry himself off. She began taking the towel off her shoulders and set it in Riku's lap. "Use this," she said. "I'll go get another." She began to rise to her feet and start out of the room, knowing that she was going for more purposes than getting a towel. She was scared and needed to run. She was going to run and get answers.

Riku looked after Lightning with soft eyes, wanting to do more for her. But...what could he do? Snow said it all, enough to counter what Serah said, at least in Riku's eyes. He sighed quietly once Lightning was out of earshot and brought the towel up to his hair, running it roughly over his head to get rid of the water. What were they going to do now?

Lightning knew for sure one window that would open: the one in her bedroom. She turned into that room instead, shoved the window open quickly since she was out of Riku's hearing range. She silently apologized to Riku and then broke into a run. Valhallan Radiant Garden was different, but the general layout of the town was the same. That was how she knew exactly where to go for her answers.

Riku waited for Lightning for a few minutes, but once she didn't come back, he rose to his feet. He imagined she was in the bathroom, trying to keep to herself, but she had to realize that she wasn't in this alone. Riku would be there for her, always. "Lightning," he called softly, peeking into the bathroom. He blinked when it was empty... Where could she have gone? Bedroom, he figured, turning in that direction. She probably went to lie down.

Lightning sprinted to a location that she hated: the Radiant Garden graveyard. This was the place that her--or Claire's-- parents were buried after they died in the house fire that Xehanort set. Was it true that Claire died in the fire that day too? There was a shed at the edge of the graveyard full of shovels, so she grabbed one quickly. She didn't even bother trying to catch her breath as she began to dig up the grave of Claire Farron.

Riku walked into the bedroom, his eyes darting around the area. Lightning was nowhere in sight. He blinked upon seeing the window pushed open, walking over to it and peering outside. It was still pouring rain out there, but where could Lightning have gone? Riku slipped out the window, trying to keep track of the scent Lightning's Darkness carried. The rain didn't help, but he would track her down the best he could.

Lightning kept digging, sure that Riku was going to wonder where she was soon if he wasn't already. But she was desperate for answers, desperate to know that she was more than just Claire's Darkness. That only encouraged her to dig deeper and faster until she found the coffin and moved enough soil to open the coffin. Whatever she found inside would decide her fate.

Riku hurried through the rain at a steady pace, jogging through the streets. Some people were running for shelter from the rain, but he continued to look for the woman he loved. He followed her trail until he wound up at the graveyard, and he stared at it in confusion. What was she doing here? He ventured through, his aquamarine eyes darting around the area until he saw a head of matted pink hair. There...

Lightning shoveled out more dirt, barely able to see through her bangs and the rain. Out of the corner of her eye, she could still see the name on the tombstone though. She kept her eyes down on the dirt as she continued, focused on discovering the truth on her own. Already, she was about a quarter of the way down.

Riku approached Lightning, standing behind her as she shoveled dirt beside a grave. The grave that had her name written on it. The last time he was here, she was struggling to accept the name she was born with: Claire. "Hey," he called lowly, not sure what to make of this scene. She needed to know the truth... That was why she was doing this. She needed to know if what Lumina said was true.

Lightning nearly jumped out of her skin, Riku's low voice startling her just as much as a scream would have. She spun around and fell backwards, slipping on mud and falling into the hole that was about a foot and a half deep in a rectangle. "Riku!" she automatically cried, terrified and not angry. In that moment, she realized her worst nightmare: falling into her own grave.

Riku's eyes widened in alarm as he took a few more steps forward. The terror in Lightning's expression and voice snapped him out of it, and he reached down, grabbing her under her arms and pulling her out quickly. Her own grave... It scared her, and Lightning wasn't easily frightened.

Lightning dropped her shovel, trembling once Riku pulled her out of the grave. She gasped for breath, trying to recover from the shock and terror. She could imagine it--falling into her grave, being buried, and being thought dead when she was really alive. It was the most terrifying thing that she could imagine.

Riku held Lightning close, one arm around her shoulders while the other rested on her upper arm. "Are you okay?" he asked softly, speaking over the rain. She was covered in mud from the fall, and her trembling form did little to settle his worries. She was really spooked.

Lightning didn't bother answering him. She gripped the back of his shirt with one of her hands, using the other one to punch his shoulder. Don't scare me like that!! she would have scolded, if she could find her voice. She just had a nightmare in a split second and it rattled her to the core. Lumina was right; she really broke her toy this time.

"Ow!" Riku grunted, looking at his shoulder before finding Lightning again. He knew that was for scaring her, but there was something else bugging him. "What are you doing?" Was she digging a grave because of Lumina?

  • Author

Lightning really didn't feel like talking, but she couldn't exactly ignore Riku. She pulled her hand away from the back of Riku's shirt to distance herself. "If what Lumina said is true, there should be a body in the coffin." So if the coffin was occupied, she wasn't Claire Farron. If it was empty, it was all a lie. Simple as that.

Riku released Lightning silently, peering through the rain as he looked down at the grave. "Right..." he said softly. Well, if this was what was going to convince Lightning of the truth, he would help. Riku stepped away from Lightning and grabbed the shovel, positioning it and starting to dig. There was no point in wasting time.

Lightning was about to tell Riku that was her shovel, but then she realized that was probably the point. He didn't expect her to dig up her own grave. But she didn't expect him to dig up her grave either. She wandered back over to the shed, grabbed another shovel, and returned to her grave. She was still shaken, physically and mentally, but she began digging again.

Riku briefly glanced up at Lightning when she started digging, confused for a moment, but then he got back to shoveling away the dirt. Mud, actually, given the weather. But with the two of them working on the grave, it got done more quickly. Riku was down in the grave when it got too deep, not expecting Lightning to get into it after already falling inside. He dug until he hit a hard surface. That was when he froze, looking back up at his beloved. Riku found it. Her coffin.
