Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

Serah adopted Lightning's confused posture and tilted her head slightly. "Okay..." she said, even repeated Lightning's word of confusion. Lightning clearly didn't get the significance yet either, which was why Serah wasn't demanding answers out of her at the moment.

"...Lightning died, Serah," Riku said then, glancing from her to the woman he loved. "And so did your friends." Snow, Hope, Sazh... They all died. And eventually Serah did too. It was a nightmare Riku lived in another lifetime, but he didn't like to think about it. Right now, however, he didn't have a choice. He had to. "I lived seven years without her, and it sucked. Lightning's gone through a similar experience."

"Lightning's gone through a similar experience," Serah repeated slowly. People important to her died? How is that possible? She glanced at Lightning, who was glaring off to the floor instead of directing her angry gaze at Riku. But before long, Lightning's anger verbalized itself.

Lightning finally lifted her head and glared at Riku. "Too much," she growled. He said too much. Serah was going to connect the dots and realize that she died in another timeline and be freaked out. Lightning wanted to keep everything from Serah, not just the fact that she spent a year in Valhalla alone. How could Riku think it was smart to say all this?

Riku's eyes hardened at the words. "You weren't giving her anything," he said in his defense. Lightning wanted to protect Serah, but she had to get the truth...even a tiny bit of it. "She needed to at least hear something." Lightning could be angry at him all she wanted. For some reason, despite the protectiveness he and Lightning both had for Serah, this felt like the right thing to do.

"That's my decision to make, not yours," Lightning said lowly.

"No, it's mine," Serah snapped. She looked harshly at Lightning, directing her anger at her secretive sister. Serah decided she wanted the truth a long time ago, even if the truth hurt. But Lightning never understood that. "You always do this to me! I've told you a million times not to keep secrets from me. Stop protecting me from reality! And stop treating me as weak while you're at it. I don't need your constant protecting. You're not my mother, Claire."

Riku glanced between the sisters before lowering his eyes to the floor. Ah great...he thought. He didn't want to hear the two fight anymore, but what did he expect? He triggered this, but then again, so did Serah's anger and Lightning's secrecy. It was a big web of deceit, impatience, and fury.

Lightning's heart stung at the bitterness Serah threw behind that name. Serah only called her by that name one time in fury, and it was in a timeline that Serah didn't even experience. But this comment was a new one--commenting about Lightning not being her mother...She had no clue Serah was bottling that up. "Is that all you have to say?" she asked quietly.

Serah glared at Lightning for a few more moments. She didn't know what else to say right now. Lightning was over protective, secretive and manipulative and Serah hated it. She hated... "I hate you, Lightning," she said in quiet fury. She turned and started out of the room without another word.

Riku blinked at the words, his eyebrows instantly furrowing. "Now wait a minute," he said lowly. He knew he couldn't reach Serah in time, so he took a step forward, using his Dark powers to teleport in her way. She bumped into his chest, and he looked down at her in disapproval. This was not how this was going to go.

Serah looked up at Riku, still infuriated. But she wouldn't scream at him. At least he started to tell her the truth before Lightning butted in. While she kept her gaze on him, she didn't notice Lightning start walking away from the scene as well. It was apparently a Farron trait to walk away from situations they didn't like.

"Lightning!" Riku called instantly, anger in his voice as he glared in her direction. "Don't walk away from this. Not like you did in Valhalla." There, the name was out in the open. It wasn't just a name, though; it was a place, a nightmare, and a bad memory. It was a time everyone wanted to forget, but they couldn't walk away from it. It was a part of them, whether they liked it or not. Lightning walked away from a lot after Serah passed in that timeline, and Riku knew that she didn't want to be that way again. He didn't want to see it either.

Lightning's eyes widened briefly as she stopped. Riku just made two big mistakes. He said the name of Valhalla aloud, and he brought about memories that she didn't want to recall. Just being reminded of who she was there made her eyes burn with unshed tears. She was a wreck and a horror and so much more. She was ashamed and hurt that Riku would use that against her.

"...There's no more avoiding this," Riku said, his tone softer than before. He could tell by Lightning's posture that he crossed a line, but it had to be done. "Talk to her," he said of Serah. "I'll help you." It would be hard to break the truth to Serah, but it was necessary. If it didn't happen, Lightning and Serah's relationship would be ruined.

"Why would you say that?" Lightning asked quietly, referring to the statement that not only made her stop in her footsteps but also made Riku soften to her. But it was too late for his gentler words. "...How could you use that against me?" She didn't use it against him. That future he brought up before was one where he wasn't always pleasant in his grief. He crushed her dreams in that world and she didn't hold it against him one time. Now he was using her grief against her...

"Because you're still hiding behind it," Riku said, still standing in front of Serah. But he had a feeling she wouldn't be going anywhere. Not after this. Lightning was still hiding behind her grief; that was one of the reasons she still couldn't tell Serah about Valhalla. Lightning was scared of it.

"I don't understand..." Lightning said quietly. She didn't understand what Riku referred to in his last sentence. Either it was unclear or she was just a bit dazed by all that was thrown against her. Serah insulted her and said she hated her. Riku used her grief against her...None of this was fair.

Riku looked from Lightning to Serah, placing his hand on the latter's back. "Sit down," he requested lowly. She needed to sit for this, and so did Lightning. Riku didn't want to be the one to do this, to put Lightning on the spot. But it was either that or Serah hated her. Riku knew the last option was the worst.

Serah was still confused, but she knew that Riku was on her side now. She took a few steps back and returned to the couch, slowly placing herself on the edge of it as her gaze landed on Lightning's back. She hadn't budged an inch since Riku's comment about Valhalla. Whatever it was, it was tearing her apart. Serah's fury faded enough that she now had compassion on her sister, who she truly didn't hate. She was just upset and saying things she didn't mean like any child would with their sibling.

Riku glanced from Serah to Lightning, and he approached the woman he loved with quiet steps. He placed a hand lightly on her shoulder, whispering so only she could hear. "...I'm doing this for you," he told her gently. "Just trust me." It was too late to take anything back, and now Lightning had to confront the problem. Riku would be right by her side. He was the one who caused it anyway.

Lightning refused to look at Riku. She trembled lightly beneath his hand in sadness and anger, feeling a great sense of betrayal. "I trusted you to never use anything from that place against me," she said quietly. "Why should I trust you now?" He was wrong to use that against her, and he was wrong to tell Serah the truth. It wasn't his place.

"...I'm sorry," Riku said softly, eyes gentle with the person beside him. "But would you really want her to hate you for keeping a secret about her? You would want to know too, wouldn't you?" It was a no-brainer. Lightning would absolutely want to know if she was somehow affected in another timeline. She couldn't be a hypocrite right now.

Lightning wasn't willing to fall into a trap and answer Riku's questions. First of all, Serah didn't hate her--she just said that in anger. And Lightning was different from Serah. No matter what Serah said, there were some things she was better off not knowing. And this was one of them. Lightning started away again, not caring that Serah was going to wholeheartedly pursue the truth now. She'd hear it...just not from Lightning. She was running away.

Riku's hand fell down to his side, and that was when he watched Lightning go. What more could he say to convince her? He shouldn't have had to. She should have wanted to tell Serah the truth, but she didn't, because she was hiding behind her grief. Fine...I guess I'll be the bearer of bad news.

Serah watched in silence as Lightning walked away. Her anger was replaced with concern. Lightning was obviously not okay. Serah had yet to see one occasion where Riku couldn't convince Lightning to do the right thing until just a minute ago. If her voice of reason wasn't getting through to her, just how grieved was she? This was so much worse than she thought, wasn't it?

Riku turned to look at Serah, releasing a soft breath. "...I've said too much already," he began lowly. "But it's best if you hear this from her, not me. If you want to know now, I'll tell you." He glanced away, toward the hall where Lightning disappeared. "...Or you can wait until she's ready, but I don't know if she ever will be." Lightning experienced a tragedy, and he hated thinking about it because it was like he was reliving it all; trying to coax her out of her depression, seeing her cry and mope. It was awful.

Serah looked down the hallway, taking in Riku's words. "She's really suffering, isn't she?" she asked quietly of her sister. Lightning was distraught enough to act completely irrationally and blatantly run away from her problems while Serah was watching. If Lightning was somewhat okay, she would have put on an act to make Serah worry less. But Lightning was so shattered that she couldn't even do that.
