Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

"Again, I'm not giving you a choice." Lightning was sick of Riku insisting he leave. She grabbed his arm more tightly and began to drag him towards the bed, turning her head towards Kain. "Kain..." she began. She couldn't leave Riku alone to get him food; he would probably run away on her. So, if Kain could go get him something... The man didn't look pleased, but he understood. He began to leave the room to do as Lightning requested.

"Lightning," Riku called, somewhat relieved at the fact that Kain was leaving. "Stop it." She didn't have to do this. He had gone days without rest; he could go a few more hours to get home. By Kain's behavior at leaving the room, Riku was being a burden. That, on top of being uncomfortable here at all, made Riku want to split.

"Stop being stupid," Lightning said lowly, continuing to pull on Riku's arm in a not so gentle way. I don't have the patience for this right now. She was doing okay here. Of course she missed Riku and her sister and everyone else, but she was finally coping with everything that happened, and doing it in a more healthy way than she had done before. That was all over now that Riku was here.

Riku yanked his arm out of Lightning's grasp, even if it did hurt with how tight she was holding him. "Stupid?" he checked, eyebrows furrowing. Was she serious? He wasn't being stupid...not really. He was just protective...and upset at her disappearance, and her lack of honesty. How was that stupid?

Lightning spun around to look at Riku, not hesitating to look him in the eye. "Yes, stupid," she repeated. "I said I was sorry and I am. Now I'm trying to make it up to you and take care of you, because you wore yourself down for my sake and I feel bad. So stop being stupid and just accept that I want to help you!" She was angry and frustrated and strained by the tension of Riku and the tension of coping with Valhalla. She didn't want things to be this way.

"You're such a hypocrite," Riku retorted lowly, eyeing Lightning with angry, hurt aquamarine orbs. "I tried doing the same for you and you ran off. I tried helping you and you disappeared. But when it comes to you helping me, I can't leave your precious sanctuary? Since you're doing so great here, I'll just leave you to Kain and the servants. It's a lot better than what I can do for you, right?" Riku frowned, jabbing a finger toward the door. "And the fact that you're with him, a guy who was pining for you in the past--who loved you in another timeline--isn't supposed to make me uneasy? Do you honestly think I'm just going to drop it because you say I'm stupid?" Lightning was crazy to think he was just going to rest in a place like this, with everything associated with it.

"Do you actually want me to heal, or do you have to be the one responsible?" Lightning spat. "You sound like you don't actually care at all. Why does it kill you so much that I found healing on my own and didn't need you to save me for once? Did you want me to be a damsel in distress instead? You want me to be broken, unless you're the one to heal me? Well here's a newsflash: Kain didn't make any moves on me. I came to him for a quiet place to think and he gave it to me. Whatever progress I made was made by me. And I'm damn proud of it."

"Good," Riku said with a firm nod. "I'm glad, but that doesn't mean that you sneaking off to be with him of all people is alright. You didn't even bother telling me that you were safe!" Riku's voice had risen to a ridiculous level due to his fury, his blood boiling as his heart thumped painfully in his chest. "This doesn't have anything to do with if I care or not! I do, and you know I do, so stop changing the subject!"

Lightning actually took a small step away at Riku's yelling. She saw him lose himself to anger before and say things that he didn't mean, but he did mean that he recognized she made some progress here, and he was glad. His eyes didn't lie. She brought her fingers up and pinched the bridge of her nose as she lowered her gaze to the ground. "...I'm sorry," she said more softly. "I was out of line."

"You got that right," Riku barked with hard eyes. "While you were here being pampered and enjoying the silence that I could have given you if you asked for it, I've been going days without sleep to make sure you weren't dead. And checking in with Serah to let her know that I still hadn't found her sister." Riku looked away, nearly rolling his eyes. "She won't have to worry about that tonight." He was going to return to Cocoon and spill the details of Lightning's whereabouts.

"What do you want me to say?" Lightning sighed. She tried apologizing multiple times and he didn't care about that. She tried to help him after he wore himself down for her sake, but he was too busy fuming to take any part in that. She had no clue what he wanted her to say or do to make him feel better.

Riku waited a moment to look back at Lightning, surprisingly finding it difficult. He was disappointed and hurt, for more reasons than one. He wasn't sure what to even say. All thoughts were jumbled in his head, so cluttered he couldn't even make them out. "...Sorry won't cut it this time," he finally declared. "You've crossed a line."

"What do you want, Riku!" Lightning suddenly shouted. She looked at him through upset eyes, her hands curled back down at her sides. "Do you want me to fall to my knees and beg for forgiveness? Stab Kain in the heart just so you never have to worry about him again? I don't know what you want me to do to set this right!"

Riku didn't even flinch at the shouts, his steely eyes still set on the blue opposite him. He smiled without humor, shaking his head as he looked away again. The thought of wiping out Kain was pleasing, but stupid all the same; as if that would make things better. "...This isn't just about him," he started lowly, eyes finding his beloved. "This is about you. You deciding to run away, when you knew that in the end it would only make things worse. Or the fact that you left a stupid letter that would buy you a few days, but didn't even bother to contact us after two weeks passed. Are you that dense? You knew I would come look for you, but you didn't make any effort to stop me! You knew that I wouldn't stop looking until I found you, and yet you made no effort to reach me. Not once."

"I didn't know that it would end like this!" Lightning scoffed, disbelieving what Riku was throwing at her. "And I did not know you'd come looking for me! I hoped that you would have enough faith in me to know that I would come home when I was ready to." Obviously he didn't get that memo. Maybe she should have left him a more specific note, since he obviously didn't understand anything that wasn't said outright.

Riku opened his arms as if to say "oh well." He took a few steps back. "Well that worked our real well, didn't it?" he replied, voice low with anger. He turned and started to slowly roam the room, the vanity mirror his first stop. Expensive perfume, a brush made out of silver, candles... It was quite luxurious.

I said I was sorry! Lightning wanted to snap. Just leave it be already! And...there was something else...something she didn't want to bring up. Something triggered her to run away from home, and it wasn't just coping with what happened in Valhalla. It was something else. Something that was actually worse in a few ways.

Riku fingered the bristles of the brush for a second before picking up the perfume, looking over the glass bottle. "...And you know what else really gets on my nerves?" he asked, his back still to Lightning. He didn't wait for her to answer. "That according to you, I'm the only one who can heal you. That I want you to suffer unless I'm the one to make you better. That I want you to be broken!" He slammed the perfume bottle back down on the vanity, though the glass didn't break. Riku turned a little, glaring at Lightning across his shoulder. "Seeing you like that makes me sick, Lightning. Kain helps you more, great, but that doesn't mean I have to be okay with the fact that it's him."

"Right now, all you're doing is breaking me again," Lightning mumbled so softly that Riku surely couldn't understand the words. He heard her speak and saw her lips move; she knew that much. But she didn't know if she had the audacity to say those words to him after all the damage she obviously did by running away.

Riku's eyebrows furrowed a little more, his expression screaming confusion alongside frustration. He saw Lightning's lips move, obviously, but he couldn't make out what she said. He took another small step forward, silently prompting her to repeat herself. What did she have trouble saying, after all she recently claimed?

  • Author

Lightning knew that was her invitation to speak again--no, more like an order. But she didn't. Instead, she lifted a hand to cover her eyes as she bit down on her trembling lip. This was so wrong. She was angry at Riku for bursting in like this, but she was more angry that she herself justified his actions. She ran away. This was her fault. Even now, I can't do anything right. There went all the progress she made over the past two weeks.

"...Why didn't you tell me?" Riku asked, no longer hollering. His voice, however, was low with suspicion and wonder. Why did Lightning run away and not give him an update? Why didn't she tell him where she was, or that she was okay? He was worried sick.

Lightning forced herself to take in a breath--to calm her trembling lips, before she spoke. "Something happened," she said lowly. "I felt...I felt my Valhallan self, full of grief, rising up again. And I was ashamed and I ran away." She didn't do it to hurt Riku; she wouldn't intentionally hurt him like that. She was selfish and scared and ashamed and she just ran. That was what she was good at doing lately.

Riku wasn't really sure how to respond, so he didn't. What Lightning was saying, without really admitting it, was that Riku did nothing to help her, despite his efforts. Before she ran away, he had been there to offer his support. Clearly that was a bust. Lightning just said it herself.

"I was scared and ashamed and selfish and now I am again." Lightning turned away, keeping a hand over her eyes even if Riku couldn't see her face. "I know you deserve to know exactly what happened to set this off but I'm still...so...ashamed. I hoped you would never see me like this again. I ran away so you wouldn't. I didn't want to let you down."
