Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

Light nodded. "Yeah," she said. "It's time to go home." She had been away for two weeks. Like Riku was eager to point out, Serah had been worrying about her during that time. So it was time for her to go back to Cocoon and face Serah's angry tears and beg for forgiveness.

Riku could only stare at Lightning, but then his eyes darted to the many large windows that lined the wall. "...I don't think that's such a good idea," he lowly revealed, eyebrows furrowing. If Lightning was getting the help she needed here, she should stay. Riku was more of a nuisance back home, something he realized after last night. And because of last night, Lightning needed to stay. Going back from that... Riku couldn't really think about it right now.

Lightning blinked in surprise. She was sure Riku came to this world to drag her back home, and now he was telling her not to? Nevertheless... "No," she disagreed again. "I need to go home. Serah's worried." And so were other family members, she was guessing. It was time she went back to them.

"She trusts my judgment," Riku said, stuffing his hands into his pockets. "If I tell her you're okay, she'll believe me. But you may want to at least write her a letter, to settle any other worries." He kept his eyes on the windows, looking out at what he could see of this world. It was nice, and peaceful, and if that was what Lightning needed...so be it.

A letter would worry her more, Light thought. Serah would be able to tell if anything was wrong in that letter and pounce on it. "I won't need to write her a letter though," she protested again, her voice nearly lacking any emotion. "I'm going to go home." She couldn't stay on this world anymore, not with Riku's obvious disapproval.

Riku closed his eyes and shook his head slightly, disagreeing with that. Again, he didn't think that was such a good idea. "You proved to me last night that going home wasn't what was best for you," he told her. "Kain too." They both said that, each in their own way of course. But it was the truth. If Lightning was better off in this place than back on Cocoon, Riku felt she needed to stay. It would hurt their relationship for sure, but it was already suffering.

"I proved that?" Lightning repeated. "How?" Last night, she was a mess. She had been proud of her progress over the past few weeks and then she watched all that be ripped apart by Riku's angry words. Whatever healing she had in this place was too superficial and fragile to actually last. What good was this place to her?

"I was in the room, Light," Riku revealed quietly, finally looking over at her. "I saw you sitting there with him. I didn't like it...at all, but you were okay. You fought demons that I couldn't help you with. If Kain does a better job at keeping you safe...and healthy...then stay." It was that simple. Riku wasn't good for her. What was said yesterday made him feel like he was poisonous.

Lightning slowly rose to her feet. Was Riku saying what she thought he was saying? Was he implying that she should love Kain because he was "better" for her? "But...if I stay..." she began slowly, "you'll be hurting." She could see it in his eyes already how much it pained him to admit that Kain was good for her.

Riku shrugged a little, indifferent. "I have been," he admitted calmly, his eyes on the blue he loved. The eyes he adored and wished to see every day for the rest of his life. But...he just had this feeling that it wasn't possible. And too many things had proven to him that his gut was telling the truth. "But you're in the process of healing. It'll take me a little while, but I'll be fine."

"No," Lightning said as she approached him. "I've done enough damage. Take me home. I'll heal there. I'll be okay. But only if I don't hurt you anymore." She couldn't bear it if she broke his heart yet again. She did it far too often and hated herself every time she did it. Yet here she was again in that same position.

Riku watched Lightning approach, and when she was right in front of him, he took a moment to gaze at her in silence. Such a beautiful face to represent such an amazing soul. But...she wasn't his match. She couldn't be, not with all he gathered in the past week. "...Stay," he told her quietly. "It's what's best for you." In other words, Kain was who was best for her, not Riku. He had done enough damage. Lightning left for a reason, and he was part of it.

"What's best for me is knowing that you're okay," Lightning said, fighting the urge to touch Riku's face. It felt like there was a wall between them now, and she wanted to tear it down. She wanted to hug him and kiss him and tell him how much she loved him, because she truly did love him. She just wasn't worthy of him returning that love.

Riku smiled a little, lowering his gaze to the floor. "Same," he replied simply. If Lightning was healthy and happy, what more could he want? The young man fought to touch the lightning bolt necklace that hung around his neck, instead keeping his hands in his pockets. He needed to be strong.

"Then it's decided," Lightning said with a slight nod. "I'm going to come home. Okay?" She didn't want them to drift apart. If they said goodbye here, it was going to feel like a permanent farewell. That was something that she couldn't cope with. Riku was everything to her; she couldn't leave him alone when he made it sound like...like they were broken up.

Riku glanced up at Lightning, but then he closed his eyes, his chin still ducked. "Light," he said with a small sigh. He really wasn't sure about this. There was a reason she ran away, besides thinking that she wasn't worthy of his efforts. She ran away because he made her worse, right? Wasn't that what Kain said yesterday?

  • Author

"Okay," Lightning answered herself. She decided to be stubborn and go home, whether Riku liked it or not. Kain was standing in the doorway listening, as he had been for a long time. She gave him a slight nod and he returned it, knowing that this was their farewell, and her thank you. He helped her a lot, but now it was time that Lightning worked on her relationship with Riku. "Ready to go?"

Riku could sense Kain behind him, and he kept his eyes closed. "Kain," he called lowly. "You know this isn't a good idea." After what the man said yesterday, he knew that Riku was bad for Lightning right now. He practically screamed it.

"There's no alternative," Kain said lowly. "Lightning had refuge here, but now her sanctuary is tainted. This place will only be a poison." He looked past Riku to the young woman who refused to meet his gaze now. "Am I not correct, Lightning?" Since she couldn't look him in the eye, he knew that he stumbled upon the truth. This world was no longer a sanctuary.

Riku turned a little, looking over at Kain. "Because of me," he assumed, and he knew he was right. Riku was the one who tainted this place for her. That only further supported his side; Lightning needed to stay. "Right?"

  • Author

"Yes," Kain said bluntly. "Because of you. I don't know what kind of lover you consider yourself to be, but last night, you were a failure. Lightning is more than worthy of your patience and understanding, even if her actions were rash and inflicted pain on you. You are unimportant, and so am I. Lightning--" He lifted a hand and pointed at her. "--Is the most important, valuable person I ever met."

Kain was right, in everything he said, especially about Lightning being valuable. Riku closed his eyes, his hands now outside his pockets as they formed fists. "You see?" he said lowly, calmly despite the emotions in his heart. He looked over at Lightning, aquamarine eyes guarded, even with her. "That's why you're staying. Once I leave, this place will be pure again." He turned and started out, glancing at Kain as he passed. "Take care of her," he requested lowly, then disappearing out of the room. He was getting out of here before Lightning could protest.

Lightning couldn't believe the turn of events. How was Riku taking Kain's side?! Last night, the two were mortal enemies! "Riku!" she called after him. She rushed to the door to follow him, but she didn't make it far. Kain was before her, and to stop her from pursuit, he didn't just block her way. He wrapped his arms around her to keep her still. He was so tall that she could barely see over his shoulder; she could hardly see Riku leaving. "Riku!" she called again. "Don't let him do this!" He couldn't leave her here!

Riku halted a few feet down the hall, eyes shutting and jaw clenching at the plea. But I have to, he replied in silence. This was what was best for her. Kain was best for her. Riku was simply poison, tainted by Darkness. He looked over his shoulder at her, barely able to see her due to Kain's height. His eyes were guarded, but they couldn't block out his sorrow. He lifted his hand and pulled the lightning bolt necklace from his neck, looking at it only briefly before finding Lightning again. "...Take care of yourself," Riku said with a small nod of his head. This was goodbye.

"Riku, this isn't funny!" Lightning cried. "Get back here!" This had to be some sick joke. Riku wouldn't just leave her here like this. He would never leave her with Kain. "This isn't funny, so just stop it!" He was breaking her heart here, as if last night didn't break it enough. He couldn't walk away and leave her alone. He was her light.
