Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

The next morning   Riku lingered in the living room as Lightning's guests talked on the sofas. It was the day after Sora and Kairi's wedding, and now that the event was over, everyone was heading ba

Riku found most of the guests focusing their attention on the entrance, so he did as well, surprised to see that they were all drawn to Kain and Lightning. He knew they were supposed to give off the vibe that they were together, but when the guests began to lightly clap, his eyebrows furrowed. What did he miss?

A stranger who happened to be standing near Riku clapped along with everyone else at the entrance. "Heh, the guests of honor," he chuckled. "Wouldn't mind getting a dance with her." He planned on doing so, and if he could drag her away from Kain for a bit, he was planning on doing more than just dance with her.

Riku turned his head slightly to look at the man next to him before his eyes returned to Kain and Lightning. Guests of honor? What did that mean? He kept a straight face despite his suspicions...and the comment towards Lightning. He wouldn't mind getting a dance with her either, which he planned on doing soon. Did she know what was going on here?

Everyone opened a space for Lightning and Kain in the middle of the room. This was another thing Kain decided to warn her about at the last minute: they would start the dancing. "Everyone's staring," she muttered self-consciously to Kain as they stopped in the center of the room and in everyone's line of sight.

"I know," Kain murmured back. He grasped Lightning's hand with one of his, setting the other hand on her waist. "You'll do fine. Just follow my lead." He wasn't going to let her make a fool of herself in front of all these people, nor was he going to let their facade fade. As the classical music started, he began to lead Lightning in a gentle dance.

Riku observed the scene in silence, hearing faint murmurs amongst the crowd as they witnessed the first dance of the night. The words "party," "celebration," "Kain and his Lady" had Riku more confused than he already was, especially when the guests assumed Lightning was Kain's. He still didn't understand what was going on here. What kind of "celebration" was this?

Thankfully, halfway through the dance, other members of the crowd began to dance with partners as well. That began to take the pressure off of Lightning. She relaxed in Kain's hold, her steps easier now that she wasn't being scrutinized so much.

"You're relaxing, Lightning," Kain murmured to her, spinning her in closer to his chest. "Perhaps you're finally growing comfortable with the idea of being in my arms." He was partially joking, but he was partially serious as well. His attempts to woo Lightning were never going to end.

"A-as if," Lightning stumbled, blushing as she looked up at Kain from her place against his chest. She was hardly comfortable...there may have been some attraction to him but she still had Riku...

Riku saw Kain pull Lightning in closer, and he fought the urge to clench his jaw and grunt in disgust; he was undercover. He couldn't blow it. Instead, he turned to one of the few ladies chatting amongst each other near him and asked one to dance. She accepted gracefully, but now without casting a look her friends' way. Riku knew what it meant: she was surprised and flattered by his request. Well, Riku had to blend in somehow...

Lightning stayed with Kain for two more dances. She could tell that he didn't want to let her go by how he held onto her hand longer and murmured one last reminder of the plan. She gave him one last "I know" before she broke away from him, heading to stand back for a bit so that somebody could ask her to dance.

Riku only danced once with the woman he asked before, but then he stuck to the sidelines. He conversed with whoever was around and started up a conversation with him, but otherwise, he kept mostly to himself. He was the silent observer, as usual. But when he saw a certain someone was free, he made his way toward her in silence. While she was busy looking out to the dance floor, he snuck up behind her. "About time you were free," he said lowly in her ear, smirking. Riku wanted his dance.

Lightning was startled, though she shouldn't have been. She expected that Riku would approach her as soon as possible, but she was just on edge from everything. This was all so fake. She couldn't even be herself with Riku now because she was engaged to Kain. It was frustrating, and she felt trapped. She looked over at him and mustered a weak smile in hello, trying not to break her part too much for the man she loved.

Riku caught Lightning's hesitance, and he understood why. He simply held out his hand as another song began, trusting her to follow his lead and join him on the dance floor. He had yet to notice the jewelry on her finger, but until he did, he would simply enjoy this opportunity.

Light accepted Riku's hand and followed him onto the floor. "You shouldn't have spoken in my ear," she said quietly to him. "That's either really intimate or really creepy." At least in the view of the people here those were the options. She just hoped that nobody noticed that slip-up or suspected anything out of the ordinary.

"We'll go with creepy," Riku said, turning once they were in a spot. "I am wearing a mask." It couldn't get much creepier than that. Regardless, he smiled faintly, keeping Lightning's hand in his and playing his part, only having his other hand rest on her side and not her waist; that would have been too much, or so he feared. It was hard not to be natural.

Lightning's weak smile became more natural. "In that case, everyone here is creepy," she said, looking around. She didn't see a single person without a mask on, not even the servants. She understood the masks were supposed to make people feel safe enough to share secrets, but she hoped that their identities weren't too hidden behind them.

Riku chuckled lowly, dancing lightly with the woman he loved. He was glad to see that she wasn't too uncomfortable with this whole charade; she was joking at least. He would try to ease whatever pain this caused, but he couldn't do too much from afar. He would have to do what he could within the next couple minutes.

"I feel like I have a target on my back," Lightning muttered to Riku, dancing as close as she could without anybody thinking they were intimate. "I guess Kain's pretty famous for being head of the guard." Not to mention the whole reason for this dance was for an engagement...She was seriously going to scold Kain for this once the night was over.

Riku's small smile faded at the statements. "Or for who he walked in with," he said softly. "I've heard a few guys admit they wanted a dance with you. I think they're jealous." Who they were jealous of superficially was Kain, since he was acting. But in reality, they were jealous of Riku. Lightning was his, after all.

Lightning glanced down to the ground, and if she had a hand free, she would have scratched her head uncomfortably. "They probably think I have high social rank or something," she said, briefly waving it off with one of her hands. Apparently social standing was a pretty big deal in this world.

When Lightning waved off one of her hands, Riku noticed the shimmer on her finger. He took the moment to grasp that hand and silently twirl her, though his eyes stayed on the jewelry. A ring...? Riku's form stiffened considerably as he brought Light back in. What was the ring for?

  • Author

Lightning didn't notice Riku observe her ring, since he was in the process of twirling her. As odd as it sounded, her mind was in more places than just the ring on her finger. She was sad when the song ended just a few seconds later and she had to pull back. "Thank you," she said, doing a curtsy with her skirt, "for the dance."

Riku played his part and bowed in silence. "...My pleasure," he said. His eyes darted from her to Kain, who waited on the sidelines. "Your fiancé's expecting you." He wouldn't keep her from her role, not that he expected an engagement to come from this. Kain neglected that information on purpose, which naturally infuriated Riku. Now he understood what everyone meant about "Kain and his Lady" and the "celebration." It all made perfect sense now. This was an engagement party.

Light's eyes widened as a blush crept into her cheeks. "I didn't know," she said weakly to Riku, trusting the noise of the dance floor to cover her soft words. "I didn't know until right before..." She hoped that Riku wasn't upset with her over any of this. She genuinely would have told him about this if she had known before, and that was why Kain kept it a secret from her too.

Riku believed Lightning, but they didn't have time to discuss it any further. "...You have another dance partner," he said, motioning behind her with his hand. Another guy wanted his chance to dance with the bride-to-be. Riku, in the meantime, would hunt down Kain.

Lightning put on her mask and curtsied to the man who bowed right back to her before pulling her in for a dance. She desperately wanted to pay attention to where Riku was going and what he was going to do, but she had to keep up her act. All this was pointless if she failed to act like Kain's fiance.

Riku left Lightning to her newest partner and found the man he was looking for soon after. He approached Kain just as he was leaving a conversation with another man, stopping him as he stepped in front of him. "A word?" he said, concealing his anger under his breath. He and Kain needed to talk.
