Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

The next morning   Riku lingered in the living room as Lightning's guests talked on the sofas. It was the day after Sora and Kairi's wedding, and now that the event was over, everyone was heading ba

Lightning sensed Riku coming closer, and though she couldn't remember the specific events that led up to this, she could tell by his posture that he somehow felt guilty for all this. "Are you okay?" she asked of him. Even if she was the one sitting on the bed getting medical attention, she was worried about him and why he wouldn't come near her.

Riku nodded in silence, his eyes dancing between Lightning and the healer just in front of her. How else was he supposed to respond? If he said no, Lightning would worry about him instead of herself. That was the worst choice right now. She was just...infected by his Darkness. She needed to take care of herself before anything else.

"I'm assuming you nodded," Lightning commented quietly. Her eyes were still shut, so she couldn't see what his response actually was. But judging by that silence, she discovered something else. "Which means you're not really okay." She felt like she was missing something really important...

Riku didn't respond, glancing to the side. So what if he wasn't okay? He just erased Lightning's memory. He could have killed her if the torture went on that much longer. He was extremely grateful she was getting help, but...he needed to keep his distance for a while. Just the idea of touching Lightning had Riku scared.

"Riku, just come here," Lightning pleaded in exasperation, her eyes finally opening and her gaze landing on him. She felt lousy and all she wanted was to hold his hand for a little while. That wasn't too much to ask, was it? Or was he staying away because she did something wrong...?

Riku felt more than just Lightning's gaze on him at that moment, and he looked over again to see the mage from before and one of her friends looking at him in disgust. "I don't think that's such a good idea," he said, aquamarine eyes finding Lightning once more. Touching Lightning after what happened less than an hour ago... No. Riku wouldn't do it.

Light sighed, dipping her head as the healer continued her work. Riku was seriously hurting and she couldn't do anything to help! Pushing him wasn't going to do any good...And it was selfish of her to want to hold his hand, she supposed. She grasped at the dress in her lap, tensing at the vibe she got from Riku.

"...Sorry," Riku mumbled, lifting a hand to run through his short hair. He didn't mean to be a pain, which was the last thing Lightning needed at this point, but he couldn't get his feet to move any further. Riku wanted nothing more than to hold Lightning and apologize repeatedly for his most recent action, but...she didn't even remember it. She had no idea that he poisoned her.

"It's fine," Lightning said automatically. "Sorry for forcing you to come in. Go--I'll talk to Kain for a little." If he didn't want to be in the room with her, then she'd let him go. Besides, a memory was freshening in her mind, both because of the magic and because of the fact that she was wearing a formal gown.

Riku hesitated, but only for a second. Right, this was the best thing to do: leave. He didn't want to be here when Lightning got her most recent memory of him back. He turned, making brief eye contact with Kain before he left the room. He needed to take a walk.

Lightning cut right to the chase. She remembered why she was in that gown, and it was because they were attempting to do something. Kain reminded her of a ball to celebrate their false engagement, and how they were investigating who summoned Heartless to the world and who targeted Lightning tonight. He made the mistake of saying how they were probably missed at the ball, and Lightning then rose to her feet and dismissed the medic. "We need to get back to the ball, then," she declared. As much as Kain protested, he couldn't stop her from walking out that door, even if she still was weak.

Riku didn't have a mask, but lucky for him, he still had his blindfold. He tied it around his head and secured it just like he used to, his sight leaving him and his other senses heightening. He made his way out to the front of the castle and sat on the steps, taking in the fresh air. It was a lot better than the awful, stuffy dungeon. Nothing good came from a place like that, as proven tonight. Riku heard footsteps going by him, more guests returning to the ball after their own time of fresh air. Nobody questioned him; it was a masquerade, and his blindfold was his mask. His identity was safe.

Upon returning to the ball, Kain and Lightning were ambushed in a way that was only acceptable for a ball. Men and women wanted to dance with both of them, because after the wedding, Lightning would belong only to Kain. But even in her dimmed state, she knew there wouldn't be a wedding. Nevertheless, she graciously accepted a man's offer to dance, though Kain looked after her with worried eyes.

Riku heard the music from the ball, even where he was. He guessed he needed to return, even if he wouldn't be actively participating. He assumed Kain and Lightning wouldn't go back to the ball. After what just occurred, Riku imagined Kain would have Lightning in bed. Well, the ball wouldn't hurt Riku's night any more than it already suffered. He sighed and rose to his feet, using his sharpened senses to return to the ballroom.

Kain may have been dancing with a beautiful maiden, but he hardly paid attention to her. He kept gazing at Lightning as she danced, noticing every little mistake she made even if her partner didn't. Lightning was a fine dancer; it was her exhaustion that was getting the better of her now. Allowing her to return to the ball was a mistake.

Riku returned to the ball, the music significantly louder because of his presence in the room and because of the blindfold over his eyes. He used his heightened senses to maneuver between people that lingered and chatted amongst themselves. But as he walked through, he heard multiple people speak of Lightning, as if she was here. Riku stopped where he was and lifted one side of the blindfold, one aquamarine eye finding the dance floor. Sure enough, Lightning was there, dancing horribly, but dancing all the same.

When the next song began, Kain pulled Lightning away from her partner and claimed her for his own. It was a slow song, thank goodness. A reason for her to lean into him. He held her close to him, supporting the majority of her weight. "Stop," he said lowly to her, his voice almost a plea. "Just stop..." She didn't need to suffer any longer; she could just go rest...

Riku saw the interaction with Kain and Lightning, and without thought, he slowly pulled his blindfold from his head. He held it limply in his hand and witnessed the dance, hearing the women around coo at how cute the "happy couple" was in each other's arms. But then he heard a few murmurs of his lack of mask. As if he cared. That was the least of his worries at the moment.

"I'm fine," Lightning mumbled. "How much longer is the party?" She could make it until the end, no matter how much longer it was. She just had to make it until the end to keep up the facade that she was engaged to Kain, and if she was awake enough, she could try to remember the men who ambushed her, because apparently she saw their faces. She had an hour to sort it out according to Kain...

Riku watched the dance with hurt eyes. If he had just made sure to comfort Lightning back home, without overwhelming her to the point of forcing her on Kain, all of this could have been avoided. She wouldn't have sought Kain's help, she and Riku wouldn't have broken up, the Heartless invasion wouldn't have involved them, and Riku wouldn't have had to use his Darkness on the woman he loved. All of it pushed Lightning to this moment, and that was to be in Kain's arms instead of Riku's.

The dance ended and Lightning had to force Kain to release her hand. "I'm better," she lied. "See? I hardly stumbled that time." But Kain just stared at her silently, asking her one more time to give this up and leave the party before she hurt herself further. She ignored him and began to walk away from the main floor only to be stopped and persuaded into another dance.

Riku lifted a hand to rub the back of his neck, making his way away from the crowd and instead to the open patio doors. He stepped outside onto the balcony and leaned against it, ignoring the other people who were around. He stared at the world before him, but he didn't really see it. His thoughts were elsewhere, on the woman he loved inside. Who he hurt and poisoned hours before.

By some miracle, Light made it to the end of the dance, even if it lasted over an hour longer. And Kain dropped another bombshell on her. As the honorary couple, they had to stand near the entrance and bow/curtsy to people on their ways out. This was her one last chance to recognize the people who caused so much hassle...Yet by the end of the two hundred people, Lightning could hardly stand, let alone think.

Riku kept his place outside on the balcony. He didn't need to say goodnight to the "couple" since he was staying here. He would just go upstairs when he was ready. Instead, he looked up at the sky and found the Islands in the stars. He felt like he hadn't been there in ages. He needed to go back soon and see his friends. After everything that happened here, family was a good solution to his problems.

Everyone left, safe for a few servants who lingered to clean up the buffet table. Kain looked over at Lightning, seeing her pale face. "It's alright," he said to her. "Everyone's--" He saw Lightning start falling and he grunted, reaching one arm across her front and the other around her lower back as he pulled her close to his chest.

"Sorry. Sorry," Lightning said quickly and quietly, though she allowed Kain to bear her weight. She wasn't going to pass out; she just lost her balance. "Heels are stupid." She'd blame it on the shoes, naturally.
