Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

The next morning   Riku lingered in the living room as Lightning's guests talked on the sofas. It was the day after Sora and Kairi's wedding, and now that the event was over, everyone was heading ba

Riku nodded slightly, looking from Lightning to his friends. "There's my answer," he told them lowly. They didn't know that his stupid decision last night pushed Lightning to stay outside, which got her sick. It was his duty to take care of her. He may have hurt her, but...he felt like he was the one who could heal her.

Sora looked from Riku to Kairi. "He's not coming, then," he said quietly, setting a hand on his wife's shoulder. They'd head home by themselves. He hoped that Riku and Lightning were making the right decision, but this was their choice to make, not his or Kairi's.

Kairi looked at her husband, nodding to him in silence. She then looked from him, to Lightning, and then to her brother. She didn't regret smacking him, because he really did deserve it, but...she really wished for him to get well. She hoped that things would pass smoothly for him and Lightning. "...I guess we'll see you when we see you," she told him softly. Kairi wasn't sure when Riku would be back on the Islands. After today, she doubted it would be soon.

Riku hesitated a second before nodding. There was a rift between him and Kairi, and Kairi and Lightning. He hated for Kairi to have to deal with this kind of drama, but it was beyond his control. It always had been, the second she figured something was up. Now he would do like she said, and see her and Sora the next time he was on the Islands, whenever that was.

Sora stepped forward as Kairi stepped back, sensing Light's confused eyes on him but not meeting them. His sometimes playful blue eyes were deadly serious as he stopped right in front of Riku. Kairi wasn't the only person that he was protective of. He fought the urge to grab at his best friend's shirt, instead glaring at him with an anger he rarely showed. "Next time you do something stupid to hurt Lightning, you won't just have to deal with Kairi," he said lowly. Today, he let Kairi take care of the scolding. Next time, it would be Sora. And though Kairi was very intimidating when she was angry, so was Sora.

Riku's eyes hardened naturally at the words, but he silently understood them. He met Sora's gaze and nodded slightly, agreeing. Fine, he would face Sora's anger as well. Aside from Kairi and Serah today, Riku'd had about all he could take. But he would keep Sora's words in mind. When Sora threatened someone, he meant it. Riku knew better than to second guess his best friend's nature.

Sora turned around, taking a step towards Lightning on his way out. He didn't expect her to say anything at all, just because there weren't words needed, and Lightning only spoke when she felt words were beneficial. When he looked up at her face, though, he realized it was surprise that kept her silent this time. She was surprised that Sora was so protective of her. Well, she shouldn't have been. She was his family. He set a hand on her shoulder briefly as he walked by, that being his farewell and his assurance to her that he too would protect her when the time came.

Kairi followed Sora's lead, at least on the way out. She simply looked from Riku to Lightning before her eyes settled on her husband's back. She wasn't very proud of some of her actions today, but it was already done. Now she would leave the couple to overcome their problems, alone.

Lightning watched Sora and Kairi leave, not speaking a word even after the front door shut. Initially it was surprise that kept her quiet but now she just couldn't think of the words to say. The direction she was facing was coincidentally the opposite direction of Riku, so he was standing out of her view a few steps back. Now everything felt awkward again.

Riku listened to the door click shut, and when his friends were surely on the path away from the house, he lifted a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose. He closed his eyes to help relieve the pain in his head, but he had a feeling it would stay for a while. What just happened...it didn't make things much better. Now the situation between him and Light was even worse.

Light also closed her eyes, trying to think. There were a lot of emotions that she was feeling from that whole thing. Anger at Kairi and her nerve, sadness because of what she perceived as Kairi's apathy towards Lightning's feelings, anger and disappointment in Riku for his actions the previous night, surprise from Sora...but mostly, she was tired. She was sick and tired and just wanted the situation to disappear. She swayed slightly but caught herself with a hand on the back of the couch again, the young woman wincing. I hate this.

Riku sighed softly and opened his eyes to stare at the floor, then lifting his gaze. His eyes rested on the back of Lightning's form. He wanted to say something, anything to make the situation better. But he couldn't think of anything. What could he even say?

Light felt a gaze on her and slowly turned on her feet. She switched her hands on the couch and kept one on it for balance, the other dangling by her side. Only a few feet separated her and Riku. It took her a few moments to slowly lift her gaze to his eyes, starting from his feet and then looking up his body to his aqua eyes in silence. The look of hurt that she expected was there, and she knew that part of the hurt was from Kairi and the other part was last night all over again.

Riku met Lightning's gaze for only a moment, but then his eyes fell. He lifted a hand to rub awkwardly at the back of his neck, not really sure what to do or say. Lightning was hurt...he was hurt... They were both victims, and it sucked because neither of them knew what to do to fix it.

Light forced herself to walk towards Riku. He was mainly attacked by Kairi, not her...She would do what she did best and take care of others and not worry about herself. She stopped in front of him and smoothed out his shirt, her eyes following the motion. The fact that she was right in front of him and touching him when she didn't need to should have been proof enough that she didn't despise him, even after being reminded that she should.

Riku closed his eyes at the touch, and he lowered his hand from the back of his neck to grasp Lightning's fingers. He just held it, not knowing what else to do. They had already been at this stage, the one that was awkward after all that occurred the night before. The feeling within him was also familiar--he believed he didn't deserve to be touched so gently. A slap much like Kairi delivered was what he expected. But...Lightning never did that, even when she should have.

Light allowed Riku to hold one of her hands, though she kept the other hand against him. She set it over his beating heart and stared at it for a few moments before she looked up to her lover's eyes. She couldn't read his expression partly because there were too many things mixed into it and partly because she still felt so lousy. Kairi's harsh words hadn't done her any good either.

Riku looked at Lightning's smaller hand in his, avoiding her eyes on purpose. He couldn't look at them right now; he couldn't see what was in hers, and he didn't want her seeing what was in his. "...You should've been the one to slap me," he told her lowly. Not Kairi, even if she would have done it anyway.

Light shifted her gaze to the hand that was in Riku's. "You're in enough pain without a slap," she stated quietly. If she was ever going to slap him, it would have been right after the kiss. But the moment he broke away from the kiss, he was different. He was about to be taken advantage of and she didn't have time to be angry with him. And now that he was aware of what happened, she didn't need to inflict further pain on him.

Riku smiled bitterly, then closing his eyes. Ain't that the truth, he thought grimly. But he deserved every bit of pain he suffered. He kissed another girl, one he didn't even know, one who was looking to use him for her own pleasure. Just the realization had him feeling sick again.

"And I don't care what you deserve," Light added quietly, briefly lifting a hand to Riku's cheek and stroking at his skin. "I don't want you to be in pain even if you do deserve it." That was what love was. Love didn't look for revenge and it didn't look for opportunities to make the other person suffer. Riku's acts last night were not done in love, but Lightning's actions today were.

Riku leaned his cheek into Lightning's hand, savoring the touch. He may have deserved the pain, but he didn't deserve Lightning's kindness. Shouldn't she have kicked him out by now? Told him to hit the road? That was probably putting it lightly, honestly, but it was true. I don't deserve her, Riku thought, jaw flexing in pain as the words transferred without his permission. After all the bad he'd done, how did he get something so good?

Light's eyes narrowed and some of the gentleness disappeared at those words. "I may have to slap you for thinking like that though," she warned Riku quietly. She moved her hand from his cheek to his shoulder, gripping it tightly as she looked up at those eyes. "Listen to me, Riku. Don't you ever say you don't deserve me. Right now you're focused on your flaws and my strengths, but I'm not near perfect. We're two broken people who somehow are able to build each other up. We both have the same worth in this relationship." This was a recent lesson for her, considering how she told Riku she wasn't worth his efforts many times in the past and that he was too good for her. Now she was beginning to see her value, thanks to him. And now she wanted him to see his value thanks to her.

Riku had opened his eyes at the first part, the threat. But his eyes softened upon hearing what else Lightning had to say. Eventually, his eyes fell to the hand he still held, his thumb rubbing over her skin. He felt the tight grip on his shoulder, and the weight of her gaze against him. He nodded silently in understanding to her words, not really sure what to say. Lightning was right. Despite their brokenness, only they could heal each other. It was the strangest thing, but he knew it was meant to be.

Lightning kept her eyes locked on Riku, seeing that he took in the words that she said. She was at least glad for that, and glad she learned the lesson that she could share with him. "I know you think that I should be angry with you," she continued, tightening  her grasp on his shoulder further. "And I am. I'm angry and hurt and disappointed. But you know what else I am?" She didn't bother waiting for an answer. "I'm in love, Riku. And that trumps everything else." Her love for him was greater than the anger, hurt, and disappointment combined.

Riku opened his eyes then, his aquamarine orbs settling on the pale blue in front of him. Her words had his heart soaring, lifting it from its dark place bit by bit. He was upset to hear that she was hurt and disappointed, but...hearing that she still loved him overcame that. A part of him still wondered how she could love him, but...his mistakes didn't make him who he was. Not ultimately. It was the man that he was beneath the hard exterior and behind the bad decisions, how few and far between they were, that was loved. His successes outshined his failures, and Lightning was definitely a success. A blessing, more than anything.
