Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

"Yeah, got it," Sora said in return. He had been setting the tables (they had two, since the crowd was going to be too large for one table), so he set down the remaining forks to go answer the door. He knew who it was before he even opened the door, but he still smiled and gave them a warm greeting when he saw them. "Hey Riku, hey Light," he greeted cheerily, nothing phony in his greeting. Despite how their last meeting was tense, he was sure today would be anything but. After all, it was a day to celebrate family, not argue with them.

Riku smiled faintly, nodding to his best friend. "Hey, buddy," he greeted. It had been a few weeks. He'd been home a few times since then, mostly to see his parents and check on Jazz. He glanced behind his best friend to see Kairi bustling about the kitchen. Clearly she was panicking, as she usually did with family get togethers like this. But Thanksgiving was the biggest one.

Sora stepped back to allow the pair in, though he followed Riku's gaze to the kitchen. "Panic mode," he summed up. Kairi was mostly taking care of the food herself, since she didn't see Sora as a reliable cook yet. He was getting better, but she still didn't trust him with Thanksgiving. That was alright with him; he'd set the table and then sit on the couch and watch Blitzball.

Riku's smile grew a little, but it was with adoration. Kairi would be freaking out about this, even if she volunteered for it. "Not surprised," he said, stepping in and bringing Lightning with him. He glanced back at her with the same smile, though it was of encouragement. She and Kairi were still on the rocks, but he had faith that they would patch things up.

As Lightning squeezed Riku's hand in nervousness, Sora took no notice. "Riku, she probably wanted you here earlier to help cook," he said to his best friend. "You know she doesn't trust me in the kitchen. You're not much of a cook either, right Light?" There was a lot of mystery with Lightning, but he finally discovered a fun-fact about her: her lack of cooking ability.

"It's not my strong-suit," Lightning agreed with a nod.

Kairi turned when she heard the words shared between her friends, smiling at the sight of the newest couple. At least they were still a couple. That was most important after what happened recently between the two of them.

Riku smirked slightly at Light's words. "She's working on it, though," he said. He lifted Lightning's hand and gave it a small kiss before releasing her. "But I'll help Kairi out." He started toward the kitchen, but that was when he caught Kairi's eye, and she smiled weakly. That was an apologetic smile.

Sora, friendly as always, draped an arm over Light's shoulder as Riku went to the kitchen. "You know, it's kind of nice not to be trusted in the kitchen," he smirked. He lowered his voice so that Kairi wouldn't hear him, though a part of him wished she could hear him just to tease him. Some people didn't like being teased, but he loved it, especially when Kairi did it. Her voice, her wit, her humor...they were all so attractive. Nevertheless, he kept his voice down. "I've been looking forward to this Blitzball game for weeks, and now I get to watch it because I can't cook."

Riku's hearing was heightened, as it had been for a long time, so he fought the urge to roll his eyes when he heard what Sora said. Luckily for him, Kairi didn't catch it. "Hey," he greeted with a faint smile. But he stiffened when she suddenly embraced him. Riku looked down at the redhead, slowly wrapping his arms around her. "Kairi?"

"I'm sorry," Kairi said, eyes closed as she held him tightly. "For everything." The slap, the lecture, the scolding... She never wanted to talk to Riku like that again. It was awful.

Riku wrapped his arms more tightly around Kairi, holding her to him securely. "It's alright," he told her lowly, smiling faintly down at her. "I deserved it."

"No you didn't, Riku." She pulled back, gazing up at her big brother with soft eyes. "I should have never slapped you. I...It wasn't my place, and it hurt to do that. I shouldn't have." It stung her hand, and her heart. Just the memory was painful.

Riku squeezed Kairi's shoulders. "Kairi," he called softly, attracting her attention. He gave her a look, eyes sincere. "It's okay."

Lightning wasn't sure if Sora was talking so much to give the pair in the kitchen some privacy, but she still heard the whole thing. Still, as much as Sora liked to talk, he had work to do. He invited her to go watch the game that was on while he continued to set up the table. Light sat on the couch in silence, eavesdropping on the conversation. Here she thought Kairi would just ignore the issue. Apparently she was wrong, but she was sure that Kairi wouldn't be apologizing to her anytime soon.

Kairi smiled up at Riku, but she still felt bad. "Love you, Riku," she said, stepping forward and hugging him again. He didn't need to forgive her, but he did, and that was love. Of course, not the same love that Riku and Lightning shared, but it was a family bond. One Kairi cherished.

Riku smiled and held Kairi securely once more, kissing her head of red hair briefly. "Love you too," he replied. She was the little sister he never had, but they were family regardless. A slap on her part wasn't going to ruin that bond.

Sora had his back to the kitchen, but he heard the exchange. Though he wasn't surprised, he still found himself smiling. Of course Riku forgave Kairi; family always forgave each other. They may not have been related by blood, but Riku was a brother to them both. And as long as Sora had a say in it, Riku was stuck in the family whether he liked it or not.

"Now," Kairi said, backing out of the embrace and turning Riku around. She put her hands on his back and started pushing him toward the living room, passing Sora. "You are not going to help me cook today." She had someone else in mind.

"What?" Riku asked, glancing over his shoulder at the shorter girl. "But Sora said..." Sora told him that it was the reason Riku and Lightning came early...

Lightning naturally turned her head to look at the action, seeing Kairi pushing Riku back into the living room. Naturally she was confused. Riku was a good cook, and Kairi was obviously stressed about the meal, so why wouldn't she use him to help prepare the food? She couldn't figure it out, though the mystery would be solved momentarily.

"Sora was wrong," Kairi said, pushing Riku to sit down on the couch next to Lightning. "You're not helping me in the kitchen. This time, you're watching Blitzball." She then looked to the woman Riku loved, who deserved an apology from Kairi. "I'd like Lightning to help...but only if she's interested." They had a few things to talk about.

Lightning naturally looked from Kairi to Riku and then back to the redhead in surprise. Her first response was a logical one. "I'm really not the type of person you want in the kitchen," she said, her unease coming across for mainly that reason. Yeah, she was uneasy with the idea because of the fight she and Kairi got in as well, but this was Thanksgiving. "I don't want to ruin the Thanksgiving meal...or set your apartment on fire." Maybe she wasn't bad enough to set the place on fire, but her other points still stood.

"I'm only worried about Sora doing that, at least when he's cooking on his own," Kairi said, looking over at her husband. She flashed him an innocent smile, but then returned her focus to Lightning as Riku chuckled. "Besides, I'll be there to help. You've gotta learn to cook anyway, with Riku living with you. He eats all the time."

"Hey..."

"And...I think it'll be a good time for us to talk," Kairi added, her smile fading as she gazed at Lightning in slight nervousness. This talk wouldn't be easy, but it needed to be done.

Light naturally looked down at her lap in nervousness. This probably wasn't going to be pleasant...There were two things that she wasn't good at: cooking and talking. But she knew that Riku would want her to talk to Kairi after the argument; she was like a sister, so Light couldn't very well ignore her for the rest of her life--Not that she was ignoring her in the first place, since they hadn't had a chance to talk since that day. "Um," she said, nervousness unnatural for her seeping through with the utterance. "Okay..."

Riku squeezed Lightning's leg at her nervousness, smiling faintly. "Kairi won't bite," he told her gently. Kairi wanted to apologize, so nothing bad would come out of this. She was making an effort to reconcile. That was important, especially on a holiday like this.

"Riku," Kairi scolded lightly. She didn't like that kind of taunting, but his smile had her rolling her eyes. She held out her hand for Lightning. "Come on. I'll give you a few tips and share my hot chocolate recipe with you. It's Riku's favorite."

Lightning hesitantly took Kairi's hand, rising to her feet. She was uncomfortable for multiple reasons, but one of the main ones was the cooking. "I'm only letting people know I helped with the meal if it turns out good," she warned Kairi. She wasn't going to let herself be humiliated just because she wasn't a good cook. I really hope I don't screw up Kairi's Thanksgiving meal...

Kairi grasped Lightning's hand and started pulling her toward the kitchen. "Oh, don't be silly! It's gonna be great!" she said with excitement. She was still a bit panicked, but they had time to finish everything before the rest of their guests arrived. Kairi already had everything set out. It was just cooking that needed to be done.

Lightning was still nervous, but she accepted that she was roped into this now. The least she could do was put her worries about the food behind her and just focus on getting things done. "What do you want me to do?" she asked, looking over the various grouped items on the counters. There was bread to be sliced, potatoes to be peeled, corn to be cooked... No wonder you're panicking; this is a lot to do.

Kairi released Lightning's hand once they were by the counter, looking at all the stuff that needed to be done. But she figured Lightning could make quick work of the potatoes. "Why don't you peel the potatoes? You're good with a knife, right?" she asked, looking up at the slightly taller woman. Lightning could get that done quickly and that would be one less thing to worry about.

  • Author

"Yeah. Sure." Lightning wasn't being short because she was angry with Kairi, because the anger greatly faded over the past few weeks. She was just focused now, and she didn't speak unnecessarily in the first place. She stepped over towards the potatoes and grabbed the knife that was sitting by them, thankful she at least knew how to peal potatoes.

Kairi smiled slightly and stood next to Lightning, instead working on the corn. She worked silently for a few minutes, but then she figured it was time she spoke. "...About a few weeks ago," she started softly, pausing in her work for the moment. "...I'm really sorry. I was out of line."

Lightning shook her head briefly, peeling some more skin off the potato that she was working on. "It's no big deal," she said simply. Kairi said her words in anger, so she surely didn't mean all of what she said. It stung at the time to be called a problem by Kairi, but with the mistakes Lightning had made with Kain in the not too distant past, she wasn't surprised by such comments.
