Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

The next morning   Riku lingered in the living room as Lightning's guests talked on the sofas. It was the day after Sora and Kairi's wedding, and now that the event was over, everyone was heading ba

Riku had been smiling upon hearing what Snow had to say, but it was Lightning's expression that had his smile faltering. He blinked at the sight of her tears, but he knew the truth: they were tears of joy. She was happy about this pregnancy. Riku could tell without looking that he wasn't the only one softening at the sight. Snow was too.

Serah softened, the silence settling over the room. Even if her back was to Riku and Snow, she knew they were looking in their direction. She kept her eyes on Lighting's face, though when she saw Lightning lift her hands to wipe at her tears, Serah swatted them away. The tears weren't anything to be ashamed of. Instead, Serah wrapped Lightning in another embrace and cupped the back of her head. "We did it," she said quietly, reading her sister's mind. "We survived it all and now..." She was getting choked up vocalizing it.

Riku's smile returned after a moment as he gazed at the woman he loved. He saw her soft moments all the time, but Serah and Snow... Riku doubted they saw them at all. That was one reason he was sure Snow was silent beside him, but Riku only looked on with adoration. It was okay to be emotional over this. It was a big deal.

Serah gripped Lightning tightly, speaking to the two behind her. "I demand a group hug," she said. Moments like this didn't come along often. Serah was overjoyed, Lightning was overjoyed...She wasn't even trying to hide her tears. Lightning changed so much in the past few years. Finally, she realized showing emotions wasn't a sign of weakness. Sometimes Lightning faltered in that mindset, which was why Serah wanted a group hug before Lightning thought to be embarrassed by the emotions.

Snow looked at Riku just as he looked back, and he smirked. "You don't argue with a pregnant woman, Riku," he said. "That's dangerous." He started toward the sisters wordlessly, standing on one side of Serah and Lightning and wrapping his large arms around them.

Riku had lifted an eyebrow at Snow's words, but he ventured over to the group a few seconds later. He stopped opposite Snow and put his hand on Lightning's head before he embraced both sisters. He wasn't a big fan of group hugs, but he would do it just this once. Besides, it was necessary for the occasion, at least in Riku's eyes.

Lightning took in the feel of Riku's hand on her head, of Snow's one arm around her and Serah's form in front of her. For so long, Serah was her only family. Everything that she did was to help Serah survive. And Lightning forced herself to survive too, because she knew Serah would be hopeless without her. But now they were doing more than surviving. Here they were, the five of them, looking towards a future that was bright... She turned her face in Serah's hair, wanting to brush away her tears. Even if they were called for, it was slightly embarrassing to cry like this.

"You're gonna be an aunt, Light," Riku silently told the woman he loved, his heart communicating with hers. She was going to have a niece or nephew, but it hardly mattered. Lightning was going to be an overprotective aunt, probably, but that was alright. She would care for that kid like it was her own.

"Ugh, stop it," Lightning told Riku, though even in her heart, her tone wasn't one filled with bitter or anger. If her silent words could be translated, they'd really mean "you're going to make me cry again." She realized that she was going to be an aunt, and she realized that finally, the fight for mere survival was over.

Riku and Snow pulled back from the hug after a moment, but Riku was first. Instead, he ran his thumb over Lightning's hair, smiling at their silent exchange. He guessed if they got married, that would make him an uncle. That was a weird thing to think about, but now wasn't the time. He still had to congratulate Serah.

Serah pulled back from the hug as well, seeing Lightning wiping at her tears. Oh well, she figured. Can't expect her to willingly show tears forever. She stepped over and glomped Riku in a gleeful hug, happy to share this moment with both Lightning and him. They were the first people they told.

Riku embraced Serah in return, squeezing her gently. "Congratulations, Mom," he teased lightly, smiling crookedly. Serah was protective, stubborn, loyal, and responsible. But most of all, caring and loving. She would make a great mother.

"You're making me feel old," Serah laughed. But wow, it was still such a weird thought. She didn't know much about being a mom. But she knew how to love and protect. That was going to have to be enough. One thing was for sure: their child would have plenty of love in their life.

Riku only chuckled, holding the embrace for another moment before retreating. He looked from Serah to Lightning, who was wrapped up in a hug with Snow. She would make a great aunt, and Snow a great father. All of them would be...well, great. Riku couldn't see any of them not giving their all for this baby.

Lightning briefly allowed herself not to be guarded against Snow. She was emotional; they all knew that. She also knew that Snow liked to tease people when the situations got awkward, so she was cautious about being emotional with him. But at the same time, she now hid her face in his chest and returned his embrace. You're gonna be a dad. And I'm going to be an aunt.

Once Lightning finally escaped Snow's embrace (or he escaped hers), Snow and Serah hung out for a bit longer to talk about their hopes for the baby. They weren't sure just yet whether it was a boy or girl, but to Lightning, Riku could tell it didn't matter. And for Serah and Snow, he was sure it was the same. The fact that they were having a baby was most important, and a huge deal considering Lightning and Serah's lack of a big family. As Riku watched the married couple walk out the door, sending a small wave in their direction, he doubted the lack of family would be a problem for much longer.

Lightning sat down on the couch when Serah and Snow left, the woman looking down at her lap in deep thought. She never actually thought she'd reach a point in her life where she could celebrate their family growing. After so much hardship growing up, she learned not to look at the future and expect too much. That changed with Riku and when she began believing in their love, but now she had something else to look forward to: a niece or nephew.

Riku silently took a seat beside Lightning, his eyes glued to her as he lifted a hand to rest on her back. She was quiet while Serah and Snow were here, but he knew the news was to blame. She was trying to accept the information, not that he was surprised. Riku knew this was a big deal for Lightning. Family was always a huge part of her life, no matter how small.

Lightning comprehended the hand on her back, and suddenly she imagined that it was a child's hand instead of Riku's. That triggered a whole new set of thoughts for her: thoughts of worry. She groaned, lifting a hand to her face. "I don't know how to be an aunt," she said in worry. She had no clue what aunts were like since she didn't have any extended family. It really was just her and Serah until she found Snow.

Riku blinked at the groan, and he looked down at the coffee table. "Uh..." he said, not knowing exactly how to react. But then a memory came to mind. "...Remember that one day you and I were at the daycare with Sora and Kairi?" Lightning had come in later to tell him some news, but that was irrelevant. She needed to remember how she acted with that little girl.

"Mhm," Light hummed, though she kept her hand to her face. She remembered that she had some interaction with a few of the children: at least one of them was really fascinated by her necklace. But there was a lot more to being an aunt than letting a kid look at a necklace...

"It's a lot like that. More than five minutes with a kid, obviously, but it's kind of the same," Riku explained, his eyes on Lightning now. "I didn't think I was good around kids, but...it just comes naturally." Kairi told him he was really good with them, and he guessed he was, given his memory. And with what he remembered from the future, and how he was with Lydia, he was better than he thought.

  • Author

"Maybe naturally for you," Lightning murmured. Riku was amazing with the kids. She remembered it well from the day at the daycare and the future they both remembered. "I'm not...good with people..." He should have seen her when she tried to mentor Hope when they first became L'cie. She nearly turned him into a ruthless killing machine. She thought she was doing what was right at the time, and she was worried her future niece or nephew would also be warped even if her intentions were right.

"That's not true," Riku said, frowning at Lightning's negativity. "You're great. If anybody's good with people, you are. You can see right through them, see what makes them tick. That gives you an advantage most people don't have. You can read them, Light, and with kids that's especially important." He lifted his hand to her shoulder and squeezed it gently. "Besides, you raised Serah just fine. She was a kid when you took over, and she's amazing."

  • Author

Light kept her mouth shut, thinking that Riku was frustrated with her negativity. But he didn't see her past. And raising Serah well...that seemed like it was luck. Yet deep down inside, she knew that good kids didn't turn out that way by luck. She did do a good job raising Serah, and nothing was harder than being a parent. Being an aunt would be a cinch compared to that, right?

"And if I remember anything from that future you went to," Riku continued softly, "I was Lydia's uncle. I took care of her sometimes, but I mostly just played with her. I got to do all the fun stuff." He smirked at the memory, sure it would be reality in this future with how things were going for Sora and Kairi. "Being an aunt can't be any different."
