Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

Serah glanced over at her husband, setting a hand on his stomach with a small smile before she looked back at the person who asked the question. "Snow," she responded. Living with Snow as her husband was her dream, and now she wanted to stand by him the rest of her life and keep fulfilling bigger dreams.

Riku smiled faintly. "I've asked myself the same question over the past year," he stated with a faint nod. "And every time the answer has been Lightning." His smile widened as he looked at the pair. "...It's Lightning. It's Claire." He wanted her beside him for...eternity. He never wanted to be without her.

Serah couldn't help but smile. "Yeah, she's pretty incredible," she agreed. And you are too. It's incredible that you can even call her Claire. Lightning used to despise that name, but now it was a name Riku spoke with affection. Riku helped Lightning find peace with her past, and Serah was forever grateful to Riku for that.

"She's more than incredible," Riku said, still smiling. His gaze found the floor as he fought to say exactly which of her attributes he loved most. But truth be told, he loved everything about her. "She's loyal and strong, and she fights for what she wants. She fights for who she loves, and I'm lucky to be one of those people. I know she doesn't love easily. She doesn't let people in unless they're special. The fact that she's let me in and see her heart... Serah, it's beautiful." Riku's eyes locked onto the younger Farron, his gaze alight with adoration. "There's so much care and love, all this strength and courage. It's amazing."

Serah hummed, folding her arms over her chest as she gazed at Riku. "Glad you can see it," she said softly, being genuine. Not even Serah had a full glimpse of Lightning's heart. Her sister was protective of her to the point where she kept secrets sometimes. With Riku, there were no secrets. But Serah knew he was keeping a secret from her because of their conversation the other day. However, this was a good secret--a surprise.

"Me too," Riku replied with a faint nod. "And that she's given it to me is...crazy. I was just some stupid kid when we met, but we learned to trust each other and she gave me her heart. She's trusting me to keep it safe. I know I've failed in the past, but...I won't let it happen again, ever. You two can hold me to that promise." Riku rose to his feet and took a step toward Serah and Snow. "She's told me before that I have her heart, but you guys, Light has my heart. It's not mine anymore, and I don't want it back."

Serah could only smile in silence. Riku and Lightning had a few years together, and during that time, they developed from tense acquaintances to trusted allies and now they were on a whole other level. Even if they didn't start having this talk the other day, Serah still would have known in her heart what Riku was leading up to.

"I love her," Riku declared, his tone firm and confident. He would never lie about such a feeling. "I'm in love with Lightning. With Claire. With whoever she becomes, I will love her. I will cherish her, and I will protect her with my life. I promise that she'll be safe and happy with me, no matter where we live--here, or the Islands, or somewhere else." Riku took another step forward and grasped Serah's hand. "What I'm trying to say is that...I want to be with your sister for the rest of my life," he said. "If you give me your blessing, I promise to be faithful. I promise to be gentle and loving. I'll cherish her forever." Riku's aquamarine eyes darted from Serah to Snow and back. "I'd be honored to have your blessing in my proposal."

Serah's small smile remained as she lifted her free hand and wiped at a tear that threatened to escape her eye. She knew that Riku would be true to his word, and he wouldn't need her to hold him to it. She lowered her hand and reached into her pocket, pulling out a small black box and holding it out to Riku. "Take a look," she said. This was an indirect response to his request for a blessing.

Riku blinked, his hold on Serah's hand loosening. What's this? he wanted to ask, but he couldn't find his voice. Why were they handing him a gift? Riku released Serah's hand and accepted the black box, glancing from Serah to Snow before opening it. Inside were two necklaces. Riku recognized that they were of Cocoon. He didn't understand. What did these have to do with his proposal?

  • Author

"It's a tradition on Cocoon that when you're engaged, you wear these necklaces," Serah explained, looking down at the jewelry as she elaborated. Sometimes people put their rings on the chains as well, but that was a decision that Riku would have to make. She was giving him a set of necklaces for him and Lightning. Her response to his request for a blessing should have been obvious now.

Riku looked from the necklaces to Serah, eyes wide. "You mean...?" he asked, trailing off. This was his blessing, wasn't it? When he looked up at Snow, who nodded with a grin, Riku felt his heart soar. "You guys... This is... This is great. Thank you so much." Engagement necklaces. Riku had never heard of that before, but Lightning was someone he had never known before, and she was amazing. Even if Riku already had a ring, this would be perfect.

"You're welcome," Serah smiled, leaning in to give Riku an embrace. I won't start crying. I won't start crying... she told herself. She pulled back quickly, wiping at her moist eyes. They had to get back out there, before anybody noticed they were missing. Primarily Lightning.

After the embrace, Snow clasped Riku on the shoulder in congratulations. Riku was still trying to grasp the blessing. He never doubted they would say yes. The gift was more than enough of an answer. Riku sheathed the box in his pocket securely, aware that he would have to keep it hidden along with the ring until the big day. That was very soon.

Considering how everyone was opening their gifts as soon as they got their hands on them, they were done with gifts pretty quickly. Lightning had wanted to wait for Riku to return when she opened her gifts from Aqua, Kairi, and Namine among other people, but they had been so excited that she went ahead and opened them. She was done opening the boxes of new clothes and everyone was distracted--her included. She looked back towards the hallway as Riku emerged, a curious expression on her face. She had a few questions for him.

Riku felt the weight of Lightning's gaze immediately, though it was far from uncomfortable. In fact, he loved the way his heart tingled when her eyes rested on him. He looked to her as he returned to the room. He already had an excuse as to what his absence was for: the puppies. He, Serah, and Snow saw some sneak out of their play pen in the laundry room, which was just down the hall he walked out of. It would work.

Lightning snapped out of her thoughts, hearing Namine tell a general crowd that it was time for her and Roxas to head out. They had their own Christmas plans, as did many others. She knew that Ven, Aqua and Terra had plans with Master Eraqus, Sora and Kairi had a date planned, and Fang and Vanille would probably spend the holiday the way they did five-hundred plus years ago. As for Light, she would gladly spend the rest of her day with Riku.

Kairi was still in her spot beside Sora on the couch, and she looked up at Namine and Roxas as they got ready to go. "We'll see you guys tomorrow?" she asked with a faint smile. When Roxas nodded, her smile grew slightly. These days, she and Sora had been hanging out with the blondes a lot more, especially since Kairi was helping Namine plan the wedding. It was going to be great, but they weren't the only ones who were going to be engaged come the new year.

Though there was a large group in Lightning's home, it didn't take forever for everyone to file out. They said their farewells, gave hugs and promised to see one another soon. Within half an hour, it was only Lightning, Riku, the dogs and the mess everyone made from the get-together. Despite her love of a clean house, Lightning didn't mind the mess.

Riku shut the door behind Sora and Kairi, who had given him "the look" just before leaving. He wouldn't see them before New Year's, or so they assumed, so they were wishing him luck now. Honestly, Riku didn't think he would need it. His heart told him Lightning would say yes. The young man returned to the couch and plopped down, sighing as he looked around at the mess. It was mostly wrapping paper and cups, since they ate beforehand and all the other presents were gone. It wouldn't take too long to clean up.

Lightning came out of the kitchen with a large garbage bag in her hand, prepared to start cleaning up even if Riku was plopped on the couch. She "hmphed" at him in amusement as she walked over in front of him, kneeling down to pick up the scraps of wrapping paper. Though she didn't mind that a mess was made, she wanted to clean it up now so she wouldn't have to deal with it later.

Riku only smirked at the "hmph" and let his eyes trail Lightning's movements. "Did you enjoy yourself today?" he asked, prepared to get up in a second and help. He just needed a minute to rest; he was still blown away by all that occurred today.

Lightning snickered, shoving some more garbage into the bag. "Isn't it obvious?" She and Riku were close enough that he should have known the answer to that question. She enjoyed the day a lot. It felt like she made up for some of her lost childhood, but at the same time, it reminded her that even rational adults can do crazy fun things.

Riku chuckled, unable to help it. "Yes," he said. He could tell from the moment Lightning woke up that morning that she was having a good day. When everyone got here, she smiled even more. He knew it was because her family was together, all of them. Even Riku's friends. And now that they were alone, things were going to be even better.

Light stood up, moving to the area behind Riku and the couch to pick up more garbage. She didn't mind letting the silence settle--in fact, she planned on letting it stay there. But the silence triggered a memory. "You disappeared a while during the gifts," she stated, though there was also an implied question behind that phrase. Where'd he go?
