A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things ) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

 

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way.

 

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

 

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

 

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

 

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh?

Riku turned his head, resting his cheek against Lightning's pink hair. "...Did you have a good time the last couple days?" he murmured softly, welcoming Lightning's warmth in the cold gondola. He wasn't sure how to start this speech, but...it had to be a good one.

"The best time of my life," Lightning muttered right back. She hadn't felt so happy in a long time. There were no conflicts to face, no people to worry about--just happiness. She wanted the rest of her life to be just like this. 

Riku smiled at the words, which warmed his heart. "Good," he mumbled. "But this is just the tip of the iceberg." There was no pun intended, but he meant what he said. Lightning would be taken care of for the rest of her life. Maybe not to this degree, with all this luxury. Riku couldn't afford that, but the happiness she experienced out of all of this... Riku would try his hardest to make her life similar.

"You have something else planned?" Light chuckled softly. "Incredible." She didn't know how he put this all together--how he found the money for this or how he came up with all the ideas for this trip. What else did he have up his sleeve that she didn't know about? 

Riku's smile faded when his heart suddenly skipped. He did have something else planned, and it was huge. Lightning had no idea what was in store for her. Riku swallowed and took in a breath, pulling back slightly. "Claire..." he said softly. When he used her birth name, he did it out of love. And what he would say for the next few minutes would be full of nothing but love and adoration.

Lightning pulled back when Riku did, not only taking her head off his shoulder but also pulling back her arm from his shoulders. She blinked at the sincerity he used behind her name, not that he used that name lightly other times. It was a special name that only he was allowed to use in their most intimate moments.

Riku lifted one of his hands, grasping Lightning's. He glanced from their joined hands to her eyes. "...There's more to this trip than just to get away," he revealed gently, though he smiled weakly. "I wanted to show you how special you really are to me. I know that I've screwed up in the past, a lot actually, but...you've somehow forgiven me every time. You reacted differently than I expected, and that's what makes you you. You're unpredictable even after knowing you for the last couple years."

Lightning found herself smiling, her eyes briefly going to their hands before she looked back to Riku. "I'm mysterious," she surmised. A lot of the time, she was a mystery to herself as well. Getting to know Riku allowed her to get to know herself better along the way. Before, she was more concerned with what was going on outside of her rather than inside. Riku showed her the value of taking care of her heart. 

"Heh," Riku laughed briefly, nodding. "Yeah, you are, and if it's okay with you...I want to stick around and get to know you even better than I know you now." His grasp tightened on her hand. "Light, you and I both faced our own Darknesses before we met. And even then we still had to fight our demons, but...I was stronger because of you. I used to hide in the shadows, but I don't need to anymore. Because of you. I know I've said it before, but...you're my Light in the Darkness, Claire. You give me strength."

Lightning's small smile faded throughout the conversation purely out of surprise. She knew that Riku said these things to her before, just like he said. But even so, she was always amazed to hear that she brought him out of the Darkness. She used to think that he'd get by just fine without her because he had Sora and Kairi and others. But just like Riku saved her from her own darkness, she saved him from his. They were partners in a fight, allies in all situations, and more importantly, best friends and lovers.

Riku lowered his gaze to Lightning's hand in his grasp. "...I'm strong because you're strong," he continued lowly. "You're a fighter. You fight for who you love, and I find myself lucky every day to be one of those people." Riku's aquamarine eyes locked onto Lightning's blue, his smile gone as he focused on his words. "I know you don't love easily. You've never let people in unless they're special. ...You've let me in, Claire." It was still hard for him to grasp sometimes.

Light nodded softly, giving Riku's hand a small squeeze. "You're special," she assured him aloud. As if he didn't already know that. Like he said, she didn't exactly let people in easily. Most people had to worm their way into her heart. But Riku...she welcomed him in. She opened the door and let him walk into her life and heart. He was the first. 

"That's what's so crazy," Riku said, his eyes alight. "I was just a stubborn kid when we met...but somewhere down the line we formed this bond. Honestly, I never thought I would find love. I didn't think I deserved it after all of the cruel things I've done, but you proved me wrong." He closed his eyes and smiled slightly, shaking his head. "It took someone just as stubborn as me to get through to me...and to teach me that redemption is possible for everyone." Riku lifted his gaze to the woman he loved. "If you hadn't come around, Claire, I don't know where I'd be."

Lightning had initially hmphed in amusement to Riku's remark about her being stubborn (because it was true) but her expression turned gentler at the rest of his speech. He was being so serious. Yes, she was used to that--Riku was often serious. But all this flattery at once...She was having a hard time not blushing or looking away.

"After you, there's nothing," Riku admitted. It was awful to do so, because that was putting down Sora and Kairi, but... "You've seen the future. You've seen me without you. I'm miserable, I'm alone, and I'm bitter. I don't ever want to be like that. I don't want to be without you." He lifted his other hand to put over hers already in his grasp, emphasizing his words. "You shared a Paopu fruit with me, Claire. I never believed in that story as a kid. I thought it was some kind of joke, but...the second we shared one, I felt a difference. We got closer, which I didn't think was even possible. But then our hearts connected. I thought only people like Sora and Kairi could do that, but you proved me wrong again."

Light kept her eyes locked on Riku's, speechless. Yes, she remembered seeing the future where she died. And hearing him say so passionately that he never wanted to be without her made her want to respond immediately. You'll never be without me. That future won't come true. But before she could get any words in, he was already on to his next point. He had a lot to spill tonight, and she had a feeling that she was just supposed to listen and take it all in--this story of their love.

"You've said before that your heart is mine, and I've said the same thing to you," Riku continued, smiling a little more. "But I don't think you understand. My heart isn't mine anymore...It's yours. It's belonged to you for a long time, and I don't want it back." Riku was convinced that the second he was born, his and Lightning's paths were meant to cross. His heart was always meant to be hers.

Lightning's lips turned up in a crooked smile. Though she did believe that this conversation was supposed to mostly be Riku talking, she had to let out one quip to distract herself from her creeping blush. "You're not getting it back," she teased gently. She didn't plan on returning it to him in the first place. 

Riku's smile turned up on one side at the remark, and he nodded. "Good," he said. He lifted his hand from one of hers and cupped her warming cheek, his fingers threading through her hair. He gazed at Lightning for a moment, just taking her in, but then words fell from his lips. "...I love you. I'm in love with you. I'm in love with Lightning, with Light. With Claire. Whoever you become, I will love you, alright? I will cherish you and protect you. I will do everything I can to make sure you're happy in your life with me. I'll give you all of me, and I can only hope that'll be enough."

Lightning's blue eyes moistened with every sentence Riku said. Those were such deep, intense promises. But even stronger than the promises was the knowledge that Riku would follow through with all of them. She really was stuck with him forever, and despite his last phrase, she knew that he was more than enough for her. 

Riku caught the moisture, and it only softened his smile. "...I promise," he told Lightning gently. "I promise all of it, okay? I promise that I'll be faithful and gentle with you, that I'll be there when you need me, whether that's in person or in spirit. You're not alone anymore, and you never will be again." Riku knew that he was short on time, since midnight was drawing near. He took back his hand from Lightning's face, also releasing her hand as he withdrew completely. There was still one more question he had to ask.

Lightning didn't want to release the hand that she held; she wanted to cling to it a while longer as she took in the many promises Riku gave. But she was confused when he suddenly backed away for no reason. "What...?" she tried, watching his movements without moving from her seat. What was he doing? 

Riku only smiled lovingly at the woman before him as he moved from the seat. Instead, he got down on one knee right in front of her, reaching into his pocket. "...There's another promise I want to make," he said. A vow of eternity, of engagement and marriage.

Lightning connected the dots as soon as Riku was on his knee and ready to make another promise. If it was another vow like his others, he could have stayed seating. But for him to get down on one knee meant that this was a very special kind of promise. He's...Riku's about to...

"Claire Rosalynn Farron," Riku addressed the woman before him, his eyes gentle and sincere, full of love and adoration; a reflection of his heart. "You've given my life a new meaning, and you've given me love. You've given me your heart, and I promise to protect it and love you for eternity, if you'll let me." He opened the small black box in his hand, revealing a beautiful diamond ring. "Will you marry me?"
