Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

Kairi heard footsteps and she turned around a little, blinking as her hands came undone from behind her back. Her eyes fell on the man she loved, but she didn't say anything. What could she say? She'd barely spoken to him in a month. And after what Namine said, it would be even more difficult.

Sora stopped walking when he was next to Kairi, though he stared up at the window instead of looking at her. "Remember how I always used to sneak up behind you whenever you were in deep thought?" he asked randomly. He used to have fun with that, even if it was unintentional.
Kairi looked up at Sora with questioning eyes, but she answered anyway. "Yeah," she said with a small nod. She did. But that hadn't happened in a long time, since their lives revolved around the Darkness these days.

"It always used to happen whenever I came back from a mission," Sora stated quietly as he looked at the window. "I always got your face to light up whenever you saw me, and for a little while, it was like your problems didn't matter." They were together again.
Kairi's eyes softened as the memories came back to her. It had first happened when she was on the Islands, and it had happened there for a long time before she was forced to return to where she was born: Radiant Garden. Then Sora did it there. But, it hadn't happened in a while. As Kairi looked up at her boyfriend, she couldn't help but wonder where he was going with this.

Sora smiled weakly without looking over. "I never told you, but it was the same for me," he said softly. "Whenever I saw you, it was as if nothing else mattered. The problems were gone." But there was a flaw with that, and he would tell Kairi what that flaw was in a moment.
Kairi's gaze lingered on Sora for a moment, but then she looked at the window, not knowing how to respond. She thought it was really sweet what he was telling her, but what did this have to do with anything?

"...It started becoming a problem," Sora finally said, hands curling slightly by his sides as his smile faded away. "I became so focused on you that sometimes I didn't sense any threat towards you until the last minute. I finally distanced myself so I wouldn't be so affected by how much you made me forget the problems. Just because I forgot the problems didn't mean that they didn't exist. I neglected to face them, and it put people in danger." This wasn't just a one time occurrence; it happened a few times.
Kairi linked her hands behind her back again, keeping her softened eyes on the window ahead. So, she put him in danger? She distracted him? She was positive that the former was horrible, but the latter... Was that good or bad?

Sora shoved his hands into his pockets, shutting his eyes as he kept talking. "I put your physical protection before anything else," he said, though he was ashamed of what he would say next. "I put taking care of your heart on hold so I could keep you alive. I should have tried to do both." But instead, he failed miserably at the latter, which was why Namine called him out. He treated Kairi wrongly, and he realized that for a long time. He just didn't know how to fix it.
Kairi took in a breath at the statement, not saying anything at first, but then she decided to speak. "...You had a responsibility to take care of the other Princesses," she announced softly. "Duty calls." It was Sora's job to protect her from harm, even if the emotional pain impacted her while he was gone.

Sora shook his head faintly, looking over at Kairi. "My duty to take care of your heart should have come first," he declared. "The responsibilities of a Keyblade wielder could never compare to the duty I have as a lover. I succeeded at one, but failed miserably at the other." And it was obvious which one he failed at.
Kairi's eyes dropped from the window to the balcony just ahead, not knowing how to respond to that. Perhaps Sora was right, and she had just been trying to ease some of the pressure on him. Clearly it hadn't worked.

Sora looked away, glancing at the ground opposite the side of him Kairi was on. "I'm sorry I failed you," he said softly, truly ashamed. He was so in love, so foolish that he believed he had to push her away to protect her. And...he did have to do that, to an extent. But he took it too far and hurt her.
Kairi closed her eyes, lowering her head slightly. She wasn't sure what to say to that, either. Gosh, why couldn't she say anything? What was keeping her mouth shut? Her tongue tied? Was it what Namine said earlier, or what Sora was saying now? Or was it just her being too scared to say anything?
  • Author
When Kairi was silent, Sora shut his eyes. "...If you want me to try and fix it, let me know," he said softly. "Or if you want to walk away, I won't be mad. You've put up with a lot of garbage in the past few years." She didn't deserve any of it. And he didn't know if he could ever show her the love she deserved.
"...I do want you to try," Kairi said, opening her eyes to look at the ground. But then she turned her head, gazing at the man she loved. "But is it worth the effort, even if the problem can't be fixed?" Would Sora try forever, even if he couldn't fix the problem? Or would he give up? Kairi certainly hoped this problem could be solved and her heart mended once more to Sora's, but right now, it just felt like that wasn't going to happen.
  • Author
Sora looked over at Kairi, a weak smile appearing on his lips. "You're always worth the effort," he responded, genuine. He would always protect Kairi, and always strive to do what was best for her. Not only with her physical well-being, but with her heart.
Kairi felt her heart leap at the words, and a small smile appear too. But it faded away when she thought of something to counter that. "...But where's that effort been, Sora?" she asked softly. "I...It hasn't shown itself in a long time." Every time she saw him, he was always talking about his next move with guarding her and the Princesses of Heart. It had never really been just about them, together.
  • Author
Sora's smile faded away completely. "A lot of that effort has been channeled into different energy to help me focus on protecting you and the Princesses," he responded honestly. "The rest...the feelings I have for you...they've been bottled inside." They still existed, they just didn't make themselves known often.
Kairi turned her head away, looking ahead at the window once more. "I want to say that you've hidden them to keep you focused in battle," she started softly. "But you even kept them from me when we were together." That wasn't something she particularly enjoyed, but she couldn't control what Sora did with his own feelings. That was his decision.

Sora nodded slightly, following Kairi's gaze to the window. "I was afraid that if I let my guard down for one second, even if I was alone with you and everything was fine, I'd go back to how things were before," he explained. "I thought if I let you have my full attention just one time, I'd never be able to focus fully on my duty to protect you and the Princesses again."
"But what are you protecting?" Kairi asked then, her voice showing the smallest hint of frustration. It wasn't at Sora, but at this situation; she hated it. "Are you protecting my body, or the thing that actually keeps me alive? What makes me who I am?"
  • Author
Sora lowered his head, his hands in his pockets as he looked at the ground. "Your body," he responded softly. He wasn't protecting her heart like he should have been. He was trying to physically keep her alive.
"...And what do the Heartless and villains really want?" Kairi asked, eyes soft in sorrow as she gazed at the window. She already knew the answer, and she knew Sora did too. They wanted Kairi as a person at first, but in the end, they truly only wanted one thing.
