Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

Light stopped in front of Riku, reaching into the bag she wore on her leg. Her hand found the envelope immediately and she softly pulled it out, looking back to Riku. "...But first, I'll give you this," she said, holding it out slightly. "He wrote it for you."
Riku's curious and confused eyes glanced at the envelope before finding Light's face. Looking back down at the letter, he slowly lifted his hand and took it. When he held it in front of him, he read the writing on the front. Riku. It was definitely his handwriting, and that made a chill run down his spine. This was so...weird.

Light glanced from Riku to the letter, seeing how he just held it there. She knew he could see well in the dark, but was it good enough to be able to read the letter? Or would he want to go home and read it? She felt selfish, but she wanted to be with him when he read it, even if she didn't know what was written.
Riku took in a breath and released it in a huff, flipping the envelope over and tearing the seal. Once it was open, he grabbed the folded piece of paper inside and unfolded it, seeing that it was a full page, all in his handwriting. He focused on the top, beginning to read.

Light saw that Riku was going to read it here on the beach, and she knew she would have a hard time seeing the writing even if she stood closer to his side. She took a few steps away and sat down in the sand, bringing up her legs and wrapping her arms around them as she stared at the ocean. She'd wait.
Riku, the letter began. I already know what you're thinking, because after all, I am you. You're confused and questioning everything that happened in your future. Hopefully things will clear up for you after you read this. She delivered the letter to you, just like I trusted her to, and she's beside you, isn't she? Riku turned his head, seeing Lightning only a few feet away. It was weird how his older self could predict all of this, but thinking about it, it probably was pretty obvious. The boy turned his head, looking past the hair in his eyes to continue reading.

I wonder what is in that letter, Lightning thought, though she kept that to herself. If it was something she was meant to hear, then she would hear it. For now, she'd sit and listen to the waves. She had to admit, she missed the sound for the past few weeks. She hadn't realized how soothing it was.
Light. That isn't just her name; that's what she is to you. She's your light, and don't you ever let her go. When she disappeared into that portal alongside Warp, she left your life for five years, which were the worst ones you've ever experienced. Riku's eyebrows pulled together even more at the words in his scrawl, his heart skipping a beat. How bad was it? Make sure to ask Lightning for the details, which I'm sure she will describe in the strongest possible words she can come up with. Ask her what your life was like while she was gone, and you'll understand what I mean when I tell you to keep your hold on her. She's precious to you, Riku. Without her, you're nothing but a mess.

Light set her chin on her knees, her arms still wrapped around her legs. She had nearly forgotten about another presence on the beach, but she was reminded soon enough. Jazz came over and licked her ear, tickling her and making a soft laugh leave her lips. But the girl only released that one chuckle before she gently pushed Jasmine away, figuring Riku would want quiet so he could focus on the letter.
What I'm trying to tell you is that, if you keep her close to you, you won't suffer as much as I have. Losing Light was never intentional, and if it is for you, you're making a big mistake. Don't live with regrets when it comes to her; Light's done so much here, in the future, to make sure things are set right again. Every time I've looked at her lately, I've noticed that it's more than just saving the worlds from Warp's Darkness. Lightning is doing this for you, to create a better future for you to live in. Don't let all of her hard work be for nothing. Right now, as I'm writing this, she's on the other side of the room, sleeping and trying to gain back her strength so she can return to you and focus on a brighter future. I have faith in her, but I also know that when she makes it back, your future will be brighter anyway, because she'll be right there next to you.

Long letter, Lightning thought, though she was still being patient. She remembered that Riku wrote that letter soon after she came up with the idea...She fell asleep on him soon after that. And he tried so carefully not to wake her up when he moved away that she just pretended to keep sleeping. After a minute or two, she fell back asleep anyway, so it wasn't that big of a deal.
As a favor, I ask that you build up your strength even more than you have already. You'll have the advantage of taking better care of her and protecting her, but she'll also feel safe in your arms when the time calls for it. Riku already thought he was strong enough to do that, but this was his older self advising him, so he would take it to heart and get to work on it. Lightning isn't the only one I want you to stay close to; do the same with Sora and Kairi. In this future, times are tough, and you're separated from each other. Without them, you're not your strongest either. So keep in touch.

Light closed her eyes when a soft breeze blew, her hair moving from in front of her shoulder to behind it. Oh gosh, she missed the smell of the salt water. She hadn't even lived in Destiny Islands long yet, and it felt like home. But there was one place the felt even more like home to her--a home that she never experienced before, in the arms of another person. Being with Riku was all that she wanted now.
Riku's eyes scanned the next few sentences, noticing that he was at the bottom of the paper. The letter was almost done. Light's going to go home, and when she does, I'm going to pass on a message to her. Ask her about it, and when she tells you, remember it. You won't regret it in the long run. Take care of yourself, and remember everything I've told you; forgetting will only lead to regret. Riku saw the signature at the bottom, but it wasn't signed in his name, like he expected. Instead, it said: The Older You. But there was another line at the bottom. P.S. Get a haircut. Light likes it shorter, and you do too.

No, there was something else that she wanted. Light hadn't forgotten about it since she came home, and it was nagging her for a while now. She wanted to go see Hope. Seeing him killed in the future didn't sit well with her, even if he was alive now. She would go see him once she was sure things were alright here.
Riku felt himself smirk a little at the last line, and he lowered the paper to his lap. A weak laugh left him when he came to a realization. "Man...I'm such a sap in the future," he commented softly. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, because he sounded wise too. And stronger. Even after all the stuff that went wrong.

Light came out of her thoughts when Riku spoke, the girl keeping her eyes shut as a weak smile appeared on her lips. "You are," she agreed softly. "But what makes you come to that conclusion?" How did he find that out?
"Everything I wrote to myself in the letter," Riku said softly, looking down at the piece of paper when he spoke of it. "I just sound like a big softy, but a stronger and wiser one too. So, I guess it's alright." Maybe this moment would shape him into one too, somewhere along the line.

Light nodded faintly, eyes staying shut. "You grew up," she summed up, voice still quiet. He was stronger and wiser and more affectionate in the future, and she was sure he would end up that way even if the future was different now. She had faith in him.
Riku turned his head, looking at the person that sat a few feet away. "...What happened to make me grow up?" he asked then, going by the instructions in the letter. "And don't leave out anything. Apparently I need the details." That was what he advised to himself anyway, and he was going to take it. It must have been important.

Light frowned slightly, looking at the ocean. "You didn't tell me what happened in the past five years," she said honestly. "So I don't know how you became the person that I met." But where did the second comment come from? Something in the letter?
Riku's eyebrows furrowed a little, but he asked something else. "Who was I...without you?" he wondered, his voice still soft. If she couldn't tell him the five years that passed, then who was he when she met him?

Light lowered her gaze, an answer coming into her head immediately. "You weren't happy," she responded softly. Riku was really miserable, and lonely, and just...not in good shape in general. But he was strong too, and wise, and mature. So he wasn't a total wreck.
Riku looked down at the letter in his hands instantly, since that was the only thing he had that was once with his older self, other than Lightning of course. He stayed silent, hoping she would elaborate; he needed details, after all.

"I was the first person you talked to in six months, and you lived by yourself with the exception of Jasmine," Light said, subconsciously glancing over at the dog who laid down in the sand.
