Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

"I've been thinking a lot the past few days," Light said softly without looking up. "And...I decided that I...can't be with you anymore, Riku." There, she said it.
Riku felt his heart skip a beat, but it wasn't for a good reason. It was for a bad reason, a really bad reason. He stared at Lightning, his eyebrows furrowing more deeply over his eyes, which were now narrowed in suspicion. "...Why?" he asked, keeping his voice steady despite how close he was already to losing his composure.

"Because, we were never meant to be together," Lightning said softly, faintly shaking her head and not looking up. "You already have your family...I can't intrude on that." He had his family and friends, and it was an exclusive group. She wasn't treated badly, she just...would never be seen as an equal to any of them.
"Lightning," Riku said, his voice still even despite his racing heartbeat. "You can't seriously think you're not just as important as the rest of them, can you? I love you." He loved Sora and Kairi too, but more like siblings. The connection he had with Light was strong, but in another way.

"That is what I'm thinking, Riku," Light responded, lifting her gaze to Riku. And it was the truth. Actions spoke louder than words, and the other day, Riku was so concerned with a member of his group he hadn't noticed her injuries. She couldn't compete with his friends and family.
Riku shook his head a little in disbelief, his expression showing the same. "...I don't understand," he admitted. Why was she doing this? She was important to him. Didn't she see that?

"...Meeting was a mistake," Lightning said, faintly shaking her head and looking away. "Look, you're all connected to the Keyblade, and you're used to protecting the worlds. You're all heroes, and I'm not." She saved her own world, but she wasn't cut out to save others. She wasn't that selfless.
Riku closed his eyes, his jaw flexing. "...Stop it," he said lowly. Lightning couldn't be serious. Them meeting wasn't a mistake; it was fate. She was a hero. She was strong and beautiful, and amazing...

Lightning looked up at Riku, seeing how aggravated he appeared. "No, Riku," she said softly. "I won't stop." This was reality, and she had to face it. There were many reasons why she had to push Riku away. One of the main reasons was because she loved him too, and she didn't want to hurt him.
Riku didn't say anything, keeping his eyes closed and his chin tucked down. He couldn't believe this... She was ending it, because she didn't feel involved. But she was...more than she knew.

"This is the way things are," Light declared softly, pushing herself off the bed. "I'm sorry." She wished things were different, but they couldn't change reality. They weren't meant to be.
"Lightning...I said, stop it!" Riku cried, slamming his fist against the dresser he was standing next to. He opened his eyes, glaring at her in fury and sorrow. She couldn't be doing this... She just couldn't.

Light grunted in surprise, Riku's fury catching her off guard. She could tell he was upset and all, but he had never seriously been angry with her. They had squabbles about everything, but they always got over the emotions afterward. This time would be different, most likely.
Riku's teeth ground together as he stared at Lightning, not saying anything at first. But then he finally decided to speak. "I don't know what's going through your head right now, but it's wrong. It's all wrong," he said, his voice tight with aggravation and the battle he was having with his other emotions. "I love you, and you love me. That's all that matters."

Light shook her head softly. "No, Riku," she disagreed quietly. "There's more to it than that." The way he loved her...the way Ven loved her...it couldn't compare to the love they had for others. She saw that first hand.
"No there's not," Riku replied lowly, his hand still in a fist, his knuckles against the dresser. "...You're different. Don't you get it? I finally let someone in, and that was you. And now you're just throwing it away?" How could she do that?
  • Author
"You have other friends you've let in," Lightning said, not answering the question. "Sora and Kairi and Terra and Ven...You have a ton of people you can count on. I'm not that different." Not in that sense, anyway. She was different in a bad way because she could never have that kind of relationship with Riku, or any Keyblader. Her little brother was out of her reach...
"I love you, Light," Riku said tightly, his eyebrows still furrowed deeply over his eyes. "I love Sora and Kairi too, but they're like siblings to me. And Ven, Terra, and Aqua...they're friends." He took his hand away from the dresser, his eyes on her, pleading with her not to do this. "But I'm in love with you..." That was different on many levels to him.

"You shouldn't be," Lightning declared, hands curling slightly by her sides. Just a few days ago in Radiant Garden, she said she wasn't good enough for him, and she meant it. Now she realized she wasn't even good enough to be associated with him.
"But I am," Riku replied with a faint nod. That wasn't going to change. "And five years from now, I still will be. I even have the letter to prove it." He was supposed to propose...

"You blindly loved me when I wasn't with you," Lightning said of Riku's former future self. "You didn't know me well enough before I disappeared to know how messed up I am. The girl you loved...doesn't exist." He dreamed her up.
"That's a lie." Riku wouldn't believe that. Lightning had a difficult past, but she wasn't messed up. She was stronger than any other woman he knew, and he loved her despite her faults. She had to have realized that.
  • Author
"That's the truth," Light countered. What she said made sense to her. She had seen the future Riku, and he had been so lonely...He was clinging to the girl he thought he knew, not the real Lightning.
Riku frowned, his eyes narrowing. "...So all of this has been for nothing?" he asked tightly. "Everything about us...It was a lie?" He wanted to know, needed to know. Even if it wouldn't change his mind.

Light diverted her gaze, unable to answer because her heart got in the way. No. It wasn't a lie. That was what her heart told her, but her head said that it was a lie. She couldn't answer when she was so conflicted.
