Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

"It's simple," Lightning said, rolling over onto her back and shutting her eyes. "I quit my job and come to live with you, no matter what you say." That was the solution that looked the best to her, even if she knew Riku was going to keep arguing with her now to get that idea out of her head. He was predictable like that.
"Well, you can forget that idea," Riku said, shaking his head. He lifted his gaze to the hallway. "That's not gonna happen, especially while someone's depending on you right now." He wasn't talking about himself, but Namine. She had nowhere else to go, so if Lightning left now, she'd be abandoned again. He didn't want that for her.

Light furrowed her eyebrows while keeping her eyes shut, knowing who Riku was referring to. "I'd sort things out to make sure she'd be alright," she said, meaning it. She wouldn't leave Namine out in the cold like Kairi did, the girl knowing how Namine felt about that since they were pretty close now. She wouldn't be that inconsiderate and leave Namine homeless for the second time since the Islands were restored.
Riku nodded. "Good," he said. "That means you have some time to think about your decision." He wouldn't agree, not yet. Lightning really had to think this through. He loved her, with all he had. But there was always a chance of them not working out. Then what would she have? Nothing. Her whole life would be gone.

"Already thought about it," Lightning said without opening her eyes, her voice stubborn, grumpy, and tired because Riku wasn't just giving in to her desires. "Once I take care of her, that'll be it." She would quit the Corps and go to be with Riku if she didn't feel the necessity to take care of Namine. In a way, she was like Serah, since Serah was right around that age. And when she moved out, Lightning sort of started treating Namine like her sister because she missed Serah more than she was willing to admit. So no way was she going to leave her stranded, alone.
Riku's jaw flexed, the boy grinding his teeth together. He swung his feet over the edge of the bed and stood up, walking a few paces toward the wall as he ran a hand stiffly through his hair. "Lightning..." he said, frustration in his tone. Why couldn't she just understand that he wasn't okay with this? He was never going to be okay with this.

Light pushed herself up into a sitting position, her eyebrows furrowed over her eyes as she looked at Riku. She realized her emotions were more harsh than they normally were because of her exhaustion, but she didn't care right now. "It's my life," she declared. "I can live it however I want to." And if that was by Riku's side, then who was he to tell her no? She didn't follow orders.
"If you want to live it next to me, we have to come to an agreement," Riku replied tensely, his hands on his hips. His back was still to Lightning, the boy not wanting to look at her when he was so angry. His eyes could never lie, something he learned a long time ago.

"It's clearly not going to happen, so how about you stop being stubborn and just accept my idea?" Lightning said tightly, staring at Riku's back. She was willing to give it all up, and it was possible for her to do that. Riku couldn't give up his home so easily, since he had a lot of friends and family depending on him. She didn't.
"Stop it," Riku snapped, closing his eyes tightly. He didn't want to listen to this. He came here to be with Lightning while he could, not argue. And now it was turning into another fight between the two of them. She said for him to accept her idea, but why couldn't she use her own advice? He had a point too.

"No," Light snapped in return. She wasn't going to stop it, because her idea was the best option that they had right now. Riku belonged on the Islands, and that was all Lightning needed to know. Did it matter that she might have belonged in Cocoon? No, it didn't. Because she felt even more than that that she belonged with Riku, wherever he was.
Riku's hands left his hips, balling into fists at his sides. "...Don't make me walk out, Light," he said stiffly. "I didn't come here for this." He just wanted to be with her, and if that wasn't going to work tonight, he would just leave. If he had the choice to see her and argue or be alone until another day, he would choose the latter option. He never liked being angry with Claire.

"Don't make you walk out?" Lightning asked with an arched brow, her tone one of lingering anger. "Why should I follow that order when I keep telling you not to make me give up my idea?" Riku had a double standard here, and that ticked her off. So did the order, since she had issues with being ordered around after the Fal'Cie issuing her a focus she had to complete. If anybody was going to give the orders, it was her. She didn't let others tell her what to do, even if it was in her best interest.
"I'm not in the Corps anymore, Light!" Riku hollered then, turning around. His hard eyes fell on the woman he loved, seeing her on the bed. "You're not my commanding officer anymore. Enough with your own orders!" She was telling him how his life was going to be soon, and he didn't like it. His life was already governed out for him because of the Keyblade. He was sick of not having choices!

"And enough with yours!" Lightning hollered in return, hands curling into fists. She felt sick at the rage that was boiling inside her, but she didn't care. She was "high" on the anger, like she had classified Riku during one of their arguments before. "I don't care if I'm not your officer. And I don't even care you were my student at one point! Stop disregarding my orders and dishing out your own!" It was hypocritical.
"So what do you want me to do?!" Riku hollered, disregarding that someone else was inside this house. "You want me to follow yours? What am I, a kid to you?!" He may have been a few years younger, but he had the maturity level of someone Lightning's age. She couldn't do that to him.
  • Author
"Have I ever brought up your age before?! No, so stop using that as an excuse for something! I don't see you that way!" Lightning recalled a few arguments where Riku thought Light considered him to be a kid, but she hadn't done that for a long time. She only did that when she first met him and he was an immature brat, spying on her and Ventus after they were reunited and he didn't trust her. She hadn't made that mistake since she got to know him better.
Riku ground his teeth together, exhaling a heavy breath as he stared at Lightning. "...So what then?" he asked, shrugging slightly. "That's it? I'm not a kid to you, yet I have to follow your orders like I am one?" That didn't make sense to him, but whatever floated Lightning's boat.
  • Author
"If you're so set on this 'kid' thing, then I'll really start treating you like one," Lightning said, staring at Riku through narrowed, angered eyes. He refused to drop it, showing immaturity with the subject. So if he wanted to act immature like a kid, then she would treat him that way.
"I'm not," Riku said, his fists tightening as he fought the burning behind his eyes. "I hate being told what to do and when to do it, and not having the choice of making my own decisions. You had your time, when you were a l'Cie. But your mark's gone. This..." He opened one of his fists, holding his arm out in front of him as he called to his Keyblade. Way to Dawn appeared in his hand, and he looked from it to Lightning. "This is stuck with me until the day I die. Don't you get it? I'm a slave for life!"

Lightning shut her eyes, shaking her head faintly. Riku...You just don't get it. The Keyblade wasn't a curse. She saw things from an outside perspective, and even if she knew the burdens the Keyblade wielders carried, she knew they all saw it as worth it. They did so much good with the Keyblades. Where would they be without it? They would be living normal lives, where they wouldn't have the chance to do any real good at all. They would be helpless to make a change or affect people deeply, like her. The Keyblade is a blessing.
"...I know that I'd be nobody without the Keyblade," Riku acknowledged, looking at his weapon. But then he squeezed his eyes shut, his grip around it tightening so much that the weapon began to shake. "But it controls my life. I wanted to be in charge of my destiny, and when I tried doing that, I nearly lost myself. I have no choice." He had to follow the path of Light and fight until he couldn't fight any longer. He would be torn from friends and family at unexpected times, for the rest of his life. That was the number one thing he hated about the Keyblade: no choices, just acceptance.

"You have something guiding you," Lightning said softly, head lowered and eyes shut. "You have the capability to do anything that you want, and if you go astray, it's there to lead you back down the right path. It may not be a happy journey, but you get a happy ending after it all." The Keybladers were happy most of the time except for the few moments like this where they despised the Keyblade. They recognized it as the blessing it was, even if some bad things came along with it.
Riku shook his head, lowering his Keyblade to his side as he kept his eyes shut. He didn't want to believe that, even if Lightning was right. He felt the burning behind his tightly closed eyes, the boy's jaw flexing. He would not get that emotional right now. Not in front of Light. He refused.

"Riku, the Keyblade is a blessing and you know it," Lightning said softly, not changing her position. He had the ability to actually do something with his life, while she was stuck here. She spent her nights doing paperwork and her days training soldiers to protect people who were only concerned about themselves. How was her life any good? How could what she was doing compare to her boyfriend's actions?
