Riku walked him to his doorstep. If he wanted to tuna and hide his tears, he could. Riku would prefer that.

"Sora. I think we rushed this. I'm not sure how I feel about you nor do I know if this is right. I feel something, I know. But idont know what. We need to take things slower. Be friends first."

Sora bit his lower lip, unsure on how to respond. Riku did have a point; they just met a while ago and for their relationship to take such a drastic turn of direction, it was a bit overwhelming. But at the same time, Sora still felt hurt by his words but made sure not to show it.

"Y-yeah. Y-you're right, we should take things slower" he said at last, knowing that Riku heard him stuttering. Sora turned away from him and reached into his pocket to take out his house key. He fumbled with it for a few moments before opening the door and entering the house while giving Riku a brief "Good night" and closed the door.

Riku felt horrible. He hurt him. He knew.It ate away at him. Sora's hurt eyes would haunt him for all his lifetime. He didn't want to think. He wanted to scream. To shut out the world and let no one in. No even Namine. He didn't know what to feel. Or HOW to feel...

And it made him hollow inside.

As soon as Sora closed the door, he sped up to his room and closed the door. He didn't even bother to say hello to his mom when he ran past her. He felt the tears that ran down his cheeks but didn't bother to wipe them as Sora buried his face into his pillow. He didn't want his mom to know that he was crying. Faintly he heard knocking on his door and barely made out his mother's voice.

"Sora? Is something wrong?" she asked, the concern she felt towards her son was obvious. Sora took a few deep breaths before answering her. "Everything's fine mom. I just want to be alone."

The sun had set completely already. The stars shined brightly in the veil of the black night.

Riku started to tremble. He was running. It was hard to see clearly. He wanted Sora to forgive him for treating him so horrible. He questioned himself, asking himself why he was running. He wished he could have held Sora forever. He knew he couldn't though. They needed to be friends for now.

Sora laid in his bed, staring at the ceiling while his tears continued to flow. He knew that Riku was right, that they should stay as friends until the both of them managed to figure out what their feelings for each other were. But it still didn't make the pain he felt in his heart lessen.

(Time Skip)

Keep your feet on the ground, Riku.

When Monday came around, that's all he told himself. He still felt bad about Saturday but tried not to think aboutit. Today was a new day. He could start over. Bury everything else. The trip, Namine, Kairi, Sora, everything. He'd pull up the same barrier from the first day. The one that sheilded him from the outside world and all its sorrows.

When Sora got his ticket for the metro, he really didn't feel like going to school. He wanted to stay in bed but his mom had threaten to ground him for the rest of the month if Sora didn't get ready. Sora let out a sigh, trying to get what happened on Saturday out of his head but it just kept replaying over and over. He wasn't paying any attention to where he was going so Sora bumped into someone.

"Oh, I'm sor-" he trailed off, seeing as the person he bumped into was Riku. What a way to start a Monday.

Riku was about to send an intense glare at the oerson who bumped into him but...

"Sora..?"

The brunettewas the one who bumped into him? He looked at him with his aqua eyes. He looked away quickly however. He didn't want to look in his eyes. Riku was afraid that he was still hurt. Akwardness still loomed in the air.

Sora scratched the back of his head, an action he's always done when things become awkward. He had forgotten that Riku took the same train he did to get to school. An annoyed sigh escaped from his lips. Sora knew that he couldn't keep things the way they are with Riku, but what was he suppose to do?

Riku paused and looked at the floor.

"Sorry." He meant it in more ways then one. Riku walked away from Sora and sat down in the seat closer to the exit. As the train came to a stop, Riku walked out as if nothing. He just wanted to get to school as fast as possible.

Before Sora could responded, Riku had already left. He looked at the door and then back to the floor. Now Sora really didn't want to go to school. He watched as the train doors close and continue on its way along with Sora on it. He need sometime alone and Sora knew he wouldn't be allowed that kind of solitude with his friends hovering over him.

Riku walked sluggishly to class. He didn't really feel like going. The thought of having to isolate himself so no one would see his eyes or expression would be hard. He gritted his teeth and paused. Why was he here? He needed time to be by himself. And one other person. Only that other person could give him tolerable company.

As he walked away from his school, he sent a text.

NAMINE. MEET ME AT THE PARK. C U THERE.

Namine was talking to Aqua along with Kairi when she heard her phone ring. She took it out of her book bag and saw that she had a text from Riku. She read the message and frowned a bit. It looks like Riku wanted to talk to her and soon too. Namine said bye to Aqua and Kairi, saying that she had to do something before heading towards the park.

Riku arrived atthe park and took a deep breath. Seeing Sora again made him hurt inside. He couldn't be in his presence let alone in te same room with him. He wondered if things would ever heal.

As he turned in back of him, he noticed a blonde girl walking towards him. "Hey, Namine."

"Good morning Riku. I got your text." she said, as she appoached the older teen. Namine wanted to know why he wanted to talk to her before school started. Something was up and Namine had a feeling she was about to find out. Meanwhile, Sora had just gotten off the train and headed in the direction of the docks, planning on heading towards Destiny Islands.

Even though that's where all of this confusion and hurt started, Sora knew he would be able to think much more clearly there.

Riku sat down and motioned for Namine to do the same. They sat onthe grass for a good minute before Riku placed his head on her shoulder. He felt safe with her. She was like a diary that could go to him.

"I can't face Sora. It's just too much for my heart..."

Namie looked at Riku, a bit confused by what he meant. He couldn't face Sora? "Why can't you face Sora?" she asked in a gentle tone, but Namine wasn't expecting Riku to answer her question. She felt that he would tell her when he felt like he was ready. Maybe this would also explain why Sora wouldn't answer his phone on Sunday when Kairi tried calling him.

Riku just shook his head on Namine's shoulder. He didn't want to say. However, Namine could help him. At least, she hoped she'd help him. He sighed and opened his eyes, looking downward.

"I dunno. I can't see him without seeing that hurt look he had yesterday."

A hurt look? But Sora was as cheerful as he could be when he and Riku walked Kairi and herself home. Something must have happened after the boys left. It was obvious that whatever happened, Riku was feeling guilty about it. And it looked like he wasn't on planning telling her anytime soon about it. Inwardly, Namine sighed. She was right to think things would get more complicated.

"Riku, I want to help in any way I can. But I won't be able to if I don't have at least a basic understanding of what's going on." said Namine gently.

Riku closed his eyes.

"I broke up with him. Actually, I don't know if I could say that if we weren't even together. Were we? I don't even know..."

Riku sighed once more. He got off of Namine's shoulder and sat up straight. The sun was high in the sky. They were already way too late for school. He didn't care. He needed help.

'So that's what he meant by Sora having a hurt look' thought Namine as she bit her lower lip. Sora was a pretty sensitive person even if he doesn't look the part. She knew that it was already too late for either of them to go to school, so there wasn't any point in going.

"You know Riku, Sora's the kind of person who follows what his heart tells him." she said, although Namine wasn't really sure why she was telling Riku this, but she felt that maybe it would help Riku figure out what he should do.

Riku raised an eyebrow. What did she mean..?

"I dunno what you're getting at." Riku thought about all the possible things she couldve meant. However, nothing came to mind. He just sighed and looked to the sky, wishing for an answer. He hasn't got a clear answer from anyone about anything at all here. Everyone and everything was full ifriddles, it seemed.

Namine wasn't really sure how to explain what she just told Riku. It was just how Sora seemed to live his life and it's the main reason why he was so care-free the majority of the time. She played with a stand of grass, trying to see if she could find a better way to explain it to Riku.

As Sora sat on the dock of Destiny Islands, he reached into his pocket and took out the necklace Riku gave him. His mind was screaming at him to just throw it back into ocean where Riku found it, but his heart told him otherwise. He looked at it for a few mintues, conflicted on what he should do.

Riku stood. He didn't want to go to school at all now. Talking about this had lifted a weight off his shoulders but he wasn't satisfied. He wanted to feel better. He wanted to feel the way he did when he had kissed...

No. He can't think of that. It hurts too much.

Riku laid back on the dewy grass. He did t care if he'd get wet, he needed to see the sky and think.
