Axel rolled his eyes. He should have known. Axel ran his fingers through his hair and sighed. It was such a chore keeping a conversation going with this guy. He only answered flatly.

 

"So, uh,.... we should be getting to school."

Aqua's blush deepened. Her eyes widened and she brought her hands to her face. "Uh... Nothing. It's just..." Aqua looked at her watch, thinking fast. Lunch would be over in just 15 minutes. Quickly, she sat in her desk. "Well, Riku. I think we will have to talk again soon.. It seems lunch is almost over."

Namine smiled. "Yeah. Demyx is really nice." She took a sip from her juice again and checked the time on her cellphone. Uncomfortably, she shifted in her chair. "Uh... Vanitas..? We...we should probably get back..."

Roxas lacked the skills to keep a steady conversation. That much he found out.

"Yeah," he just answered, getting out of his chair, and tossing his mostly empty cup.

 

She was trying to get him to leave. For what reason?

"I don't have a class next," Riku said, but then realized she might. "Do you have a class to teach? I can help you get anything ready if you want."

There was the jealous monster. Vanitas was already irritated hearing Demyx's name.

"Yeah, we probably should," he answered, taking his unopened bag of chips. He'll eat them later.

Axel pulled out his cellphone as soon as he walked out of the coffee shop and dialed Demy'x number. "yo, Dem'! C'mon we gotta get back to school. I think you and Roxas have a class next, right? Alright then come on." Axel put his phone away and stared at the rain again, looking at Roxas from the corner of his eye.

Aqua gulped. Why was she feeling like this? Why was her heart beating fast? What was this?

She put a hand up. "I think I got it but if you'd like to stay, that's on you." She managed as smoothly as she could, dissmissing the blush.

Namine walked out to find Sora waiting utside. She smiled softly at him and motioned for him to get in the car. He smiled at her and they both walked over to the white Bentley.

"So, did you guys have a good lunch?"

Roxas walked outside, waiting for Demyx to drive up in Axel's red Ferrari, and for Demyx'x sake, hopefully not trashed.

He caught Axel looking at him, probably unnoticeable to most, but for some reason Roxas just happened to catch the redhead's eyes one him.

He felt his face get hot, not really blushing but embarrassed, and turned away, hoping he didn't notice.

 

Riku could still pick out the embarrassment in her voice.

He sighed, "I probably should get going though. Maybe another one of your students likes to get here earlier to annoy their professor. I wouldn't like to be a bother." He chuckled as he headed for the door.

"Nice talking to you, Aqua." Her name came out of his mouth casually, like they'd been friends forever.

 

"Yeah," Vanitas answered, not being able to hold back the smile, recalling Namine's adorable clumsyness and although they probably were silent for the most part, Vanitas was happy, which was rare but a very good thing.

Axel frowned when Roxas looked away, focusing on th street again, searching for Demyx. Suddenly, his red Ferrari came into view. Axel quickly ran and opened the door to push Demyx into the passengers seat. It was rather rude but it was raining and he wanted to get out of it as soon as possible. He hated the rain. It was worse than sweating on a Californian summer day.

 

He waited for Roxas to climb inside and then drove out into the street.

 

Aqua felt a bit empty when Riku left. She was going to stop Riku, but that wasn't very professor-like. Instead, she let him leave. He had the right to go wherever he pleased, right?

She sighed and put her head down. She didnt feel like today was a good day.

 

Namine drove up to the driveway of the school and parked. She got out of the vehicle and pulled out her schedule. After she put it in her pocket, she forced a small smile to Vanitas. She stuck her hand out and laughed once.

"I'll see you later?"

Roxas slowly got into the red car, not wanting to get back to school just yet. His lunch with Axel wasn't exactly fun, but he didn't want it to end. Well, maybe he was lazy to get to class. That seemed possible.

 

Riku sighed, dragging his feet across the floor, getting to his dorm because he wasn't lying about not having a class. Maybe he'd have a chance to vent to Vanitas. Unless Vanitas was still trying to figure out why he was so flustered over a girl.

 

Riku knew though. He was experiencing it too.

 

Love.

 

A handshake. Not yet to the friendly stage of hugging, but at least it wasn't a timid stranger wave. Vanitas shook her hand and nodded before heading to his dorm.

 

He wished he had a class to keep his mind off her.

Axel didnt have a class next so as soon as he parked and dropped off Roxas and Demyx he said goodbye to them.

"Dem, I'll see ya tomorrow. Roxas? I'll see ya at the dorm." With that, he stepped out of his car and took his things to the dorm.

 

Demyx smiled at his friend's briefness. He was always like that. From childhood to adulthood, he avoided akward moments with it. Demyx turned to Roxas. "Well, Rox. Looks like we gotta go to class. Look alive!"

 

As Aqua began to shake off her empty feeling, she saw Terra heading over to Xigbar's classroom. Must be lunch for him. Terra never goes with the man though. Something about a grudge....

 

Namine ran off to class, immediately stopping herself from running after Vanitas and heading to his room with him. Then she remembered. She called out to Vanitas.

 

"Vanitas!!" Instead of waiting for him to turn, she stuck her phone in the air and had his number displayed on it. Hopefully he'd get the message.

 

She'd call him right after school.

Roxas groaned. Class. He really didn't want to go.

 

Hell ya, lunch time for Xigbar. He was tired of putting up with the brats that ended up in his other classes. So far his favorite class was the second one. Yes, definitely his favorite.

 

Riku immediately hit the bed, not wanting to sit or stand, just lay on his bed to think and wait for Vanitas.

 

Vanitas smiled. Namine was going to call him sooner or later and that warmed his heart. He would love to hear her voice over the phone, though it was better in person.

 

He headed to his dorm, wondering if Riku would be there and whether or not he'd tell him about Namine. Vanitas never liked any girl like thhis before.

 

"Hey," he greeted, stepping into the dorm and seeing Riku on the bed, staring at the ceiling blankly.

Namine smiled and ran off to class. She had that horrid teacher Mr.Vexen. However, she left with a smile on her face knowing that Vanitas did at least one act of kindness and she had hopefully gained him as a friend.

Aqua shook her head. Terra could just be doing business with him right? Maybe he just needed an extra ruler or another pack of staples...

Terra walked casually through the halls. He paused when he saw Xigbar'a class empty. Had the whole class ditched because of the teachers insanity?

He walked in and took in the sight of Xigbar, obviously drunk and possible faded.

"You can't be doing this on school property." He said flatly.

"How was your date?" Riku immediately asked, wondering if that would piss Vanitas off or not. It'd be hilarious to see him flustered though.

 

"I-It wasn't a date!" Vanitas exclaimed, slightly angry. Although he wished it was.

 

"Why are you getting mad me for?" Xigbar slurred, annoyed with Terra. He'd knew what would get him to leave him alone...

"You should go lecture that girlfriend of yours. Coming onto me..." This was a lie, for the most part, but Xigbar was too buzzed to care and no one, not even Mr. Stronghold here, would be able to guess he was lying.

Terra's eyebrow twitched. Aqua? Coming onto Xigbar...? What was this?

No way Aqua would do such a thing. She was too kind... Too gentle.. Too above everything to stoop so low... Mr.Stronghold bit his lip and in one movement, pinned Xigbar against the board.

 

He was tempted to murder the man, but he had the only information that would be given, if it was true.

 

"...Did she really..?" He asked, scared and unprepared for Xigbar's answer.

Aww shit Xigbar thought. Maybe he would've had a chance to take Terra on, but in his drunken state, he was weak.

 

"Yeah, she did," Xigbar answered. And with a smirk he added, "As well as three students of hers. I didn't know she was like that."

 

"And it was fine," Vanitas said, cooling down. "Namine said she would call me though. Not sure if it's for that stupid setting up Xigbar is making us do or what..."

 

"You seem to really like her," Riku mused. As much as he himself liked Aqua? Probably. If so, then Riku understood.

Xigbar already seemed unbelievable... But three other students...?!

Slowly, he let Xigbar down. He shook and clenched his fists. Why was he so angry. No. Not angry.

 

Furious!

 

He growled and punched Xigbar's jaw. Hard. He then stormed out of the class and barged into Aqua's classroom.

Aqua heard a noise and then a loud bang. She jumped and dropped all the papers she was holding. They scattered and flew everywhere. Quickly, she kneeled down to pick them all up. She looked at the doorway.

 

"Terra! What are you doing!?"

"F*cker!" Xigbar yelled, feeling his jaw. Damn Terra could've broken it!

 

Though it was worth it to see him so angry.

 

He made his way to the on campus doctor, to get his jaw looked at and fixed. Because it hurt like a b*tch.

 

It was loud. Like really loud. Riku snapped up in head, hearing a recognizable voice scream some profanity and then a sort of bang, that was more of a distance.

 

"What was that?"

 

Vanitas scowled. "That didn't sound good. That kind of sounded like Xigbar." The dark haired boy shrugged.

 

"Whatever, douchebag deserved it most likely."

 

"I wonder what happened..." Vanitas was right. It didn't sound too good. And Mr. Braig's classroom wasn't far from Aqua's.

 

"I'll be right back."

Aqua reached for all the papers and frantically too. This Terra scared her. She hadn't seen him like this before... What happened to him..?

 

She quickly got up and put he papers on her desk. She walked towards Terra and embraced him. Aqua pulled away and put her hands on his face, trying to get a good look in his eyes. What she saw, made her eyes widen. She pulled away at the sight.

 

Pure, raw anger.

 

"What's going on with you?!"

"With me? What the hell is going on with you!?" he yelled and gritted his teeth, grabbing her wrist roughly to keep her from moving farther back.

 

More yelling. None of it sounded good. And when Riku passed Xigbar in the hall, although he seemed satisfied with something, he was holding his jaw in pain.

Aqua flinched. "T-Terra! That hurts! Stop it!!"

She tried to pull her wrist free from Terra's grip. It was no use. Her skinny arm was no competition for his strong bulky one. Suddenly, she felt as if the person standing in front of her was someone else...She fought back still, but she knew she wouldn't win... With tears in her eyes, she shouted.

 

"Terra, please!!"

Of course, Terra was too angry, he simply ignored Aqua's pleas.

 

"Shut up!" he snapped. "Now what's this about you and Xigbar?" He spat the name, the thought of that digusting man pissing him off even more.

 

"Terra, please!!"

 

There was no doubt that was Aqua's voice. And she sounded scared.

 

Riku broke into a sprint to her classroom at the end of the hall, worried and wondering what the hell Terra was doing to make her sound so terrified.

Aqua wasn't surprised at the name. But she was surprised at Terra. He never let the man get to him. What made today any different? What had that idiot said now?

Aqua tried to pry his fingers off of her. No doubt there was a bruise on her wrist now.

"I didn't do anything! We saw each other this morning and that was it! Terra, stop!"

"Don't you f*cking lie to me!" Terra could hardly think. He was angry, jealous, just a mixture of emotions. "What did you see him for?!"

 

Riku cringed. The yelling was getting louder and angrier. And he could tell it was Terra.

He reached Aqua's classroom and peeked inside, not sure if he should go intervene. Riku wasn't weak, but Terra was older and bigger than him, so probably much stronger. He wanted to see what was going on.

 

The scared looked on Aqua's face made Riku furious. Terra grabbed her wrist, ready to snap it even. Is this what she was talking about? His bad side? Didn't she say he'd never hurt her?

 

He had to do something.

"He saw me! He came into my classroom during first period and then he left!!" Aqua felt so hopeless at this point. No one would help her. No one would hear. She felt her tears fall out of her eyes. Then, she caught up with what Terra had called her. She looked up to Terra once more and gritted her teeth. How could he think she..?

 

"I may be many things. But I know I'm not a liar."

The fact that Terra still didn't believe her and just thought she was making up excuses just sent him over the edge. He let go of her wrist only to slap Aqua, hard enough to send her to the floor.

 

That was it.

 

Riku burst through the door immediately towards Aqua.

 

"What the hell are you doing?!" he yelled at Terra who looked terrifying. Riku wouldn't allow himself to be frightened though. He ran in here to protect Aqua and he couldn't very well do that if he let Terra intimidate him.

 

He helped Aqua up before facing the other teacher, her boyfriend, who in Riku's eyes didn't deserve someone as great as Aqua.

It was all a blur after Terra had slapped her. When she fell, she heard the door open and another blur of silver went infront of her face. It helped her get up and when she blinked, Riku was standing in front of her.

 

"Riku! What are you doing!? Get out of here! I don't want you to get hurt! I'll manage, just leave!" Aqua shouted. She didn't want Riku to get hurt. This broke her heart.

Terra sneered. "What is this Aqua?! Using a student to defend you?! That's low." He walked up to Riku, grabbing his shirt in a fist. "What do you want?" He growled.

Riku shook his head at Aqua's request. He wasn't going to leave her. No way in hell would he leave her.

 

"I want you to get the f*ck out and leave Aqua alone, you bastard." Riku clenched his fists, his knuckles white and ready to murder Terra if he hurt Aqua again.

Terra growled. "Oh, so you think you can order me around, big guy?! You don't know what you're getting into."

Aqua saw Terra's fist rise up to Riku's face level. That's when she snapped. She had to be courageous. Riku can't get hurt, no matter what.

As Terra's fist began to rush towards Riku, Aqua stood infront of him, shutting her tear-filled eyes. She screamed at the top of her lungs.

 

"STOP!!!"

 

But it was too late. He hit her jaw and she crashed onto the floor, sliding a bit until she reached the side of the wall. Before slipping into unconsciousness, only one thing escaped her lips.

 

"Riku..."
