Laguna in Birth by Sleep.

Tetsuya Nomura has announced that originally, Laguna from Final Fantasy VIII was originally intended to be in Birth by Sleep. According to andrisang.com, Laguna was supposed to be the head of Mirage Arena, but Square Enix instead decided to use him in Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy.

    he doesn't have to keep using characters from 7, 8, and 10.

    or i guess i should say "his" characters.
