I'll assume that we have no specific pairing in mind, correct? If that's the case, let's rock n' roll with some Shizuo x Izaya, being I have somewhat of an idea for that one~ Then it's your turn to pick the pairing >D

.

.

.

The sky was a pleasant shade of blue, stretching to an endless expanse adorned with numerous white clouds, fluffed up and oh-so-close to touch, but of course they were still to far. Shizuo looked around, mocha eyes scanning the peramasis of the area. A large, open field and in the very center, a tree. Even the blond had to admit, despite his lack of care towards nature, that the large blunt was immaculate, designed to be flawless in every single way. Even down to the symmetrical sides of all the leaves on the tree. He had no idea what wa goin on but the only thought he really managed to understand was that he wanted to get to it. Didn't know why, but he did. So he began to walk.

As he did, the distance between him and the object seemed to grow further before he finally broke into a run, amazed by how sweat and panting did not apply even in this dream. Yet Shizuo noted as he ran how the scenery changed for the worse the closer he got to the tree. The skies darkened and the soil hardened, crackling and forming deep valleys serving as scars to the land. Shizuo wanted to stop. But he couldn't. And when he came to the base of the tree (which was now twisted and far from perfect) he wished he hadn't given in to the mysterious desire to go to the tree. What he saw was horrifying. Blood. Lots of it. And mangled bodies, not just of innocents but of his dear friends to. How had this happened? Even those school kid brats were...they were all...

"Dead. Funny, isn't it Shizu-chan?" The blond froze to the spot, rooted to the ground as a malicious voice whispered against the skin of his ear. "They're all gone and it's all your fault~"

Shizuo awoke with a start, yelling slightly as he did so. Blond hair stuck to the skin of his forehead, blinking as his eyes darted around the room of his apartment, trying to see through a liquid burning his eyelids and creeping down his cheeks to mingle with the slight sheen of sweat covering his bare chest. Tears. He had been crying in his sleep. And he had had that damn nightmare again.

"firetruck."

Sometimes while others are suffering not far from you, struggling to keep themselves from becoming depressed, or turning antisocial, or worse, you could be the happiest person within miles. This was usually true to Izaya, who was usually the source of the bad things happening nowadays... With the gangs, the headless rider, and who-knows-what, he had a lot to do.

Causing an uproar via chatroom was also on his agenda most of the time. Of course, he always uses precautions and disguises himself -- more often than not as a female -- to cover himself up in the lively crowd of his fellow chat-goers... Or, whatever you want to call them. Have you heard that someone was planning to kill Hanejima Yuuhei? ... That seemed to be his ultimate conversation at the moment. Shizuo would surely be all over that if it was true.

Shizuo Heiwajima, after having that dream several times in a row now was growing very weary and very stressful of his surroundings. Many things had changed as he grew more tired and exasperated. Tom had noticed it, Shinra and Celty had noticed it, even Kadota and his gang were aware of his new habits developed just over a week ago. For instance, his careful placement of things. Shizuo was careful when placing anything fragile down, especially when accompanied by someone. He avoided most trees (this was noticeable after he kicked the ficus in his apartments downstairs lobby out of te bay windows and across the street when it's branch brush against him). And he had grown more precise. He wasn't clumsy, everything done was done skillfully--with talent. Granted he broke things every so often but you could even ask the most random passerby. It had been over a week since Shizuo's last serious encounter in a fight.

Including a lack of scuffles with one Izaya Orihara. That shocked even the blond himself. He knew the voice he heard in his head during his dream was Izaya's, no mistaking that. So even the blond knew better then to think it was okay he be avoiding him. But Shizuo didn't have the time to think about that. He had heard a rumor going around of someone wanting to kill his younger brother. As the blond stood loitering outside the huge crowd surrounding the said youngling he kept an eye out for anything that seemed strange; fishy.

Izaya could almost say that he had missed Shizuo (in a sadistic kind of way). In fact... That whole thing with someone trying to kill Kasuka? Yeah, Izaya was actually behind that too. With a few well-placed persuasions and finger-pointing, he had actually driven someone to be homicidal. He looked forward to all the attention that'd surely bring to the crowd of screaming fangirls. And Shizuo too, as he expected him to be wherever his brother was if such a thing were to come true.

For now, he layed low, trying not to bring attention to himself or let anyone see him. It'd make for a pretty entertaining show, after all.

Izaya's a bastard. Yes. I just realized that xD

.

.

.

Shizuo saw it coming really before anyone else had and knew how to handle it pretty smoothly if he did say so himself. He had been trying to trick Izaya's twin, younger sisters (who had an almost stalker) obsession with his brother. Despite their tendency to be annoying he favored them above their brother. Still, he couldn't deny they were a bit messed up in the head. Much like their sibling. Regardless, if it weren't for their distraction of bringing his attention back to Kasuka, he wouldn't have been able to catch the supposed "revenge-seeker" ready to kill hid brother. Using his newly developed precision, Shizuo expertly flung a nearby sign (for KFC) at the knife-wielder, sending him flying. It was at that point he recalled his dream once more.

"All your fault."

He didn't want to kill anyone on accident...leave it to the authorities--yes that'd be best. Or at least that's what his thought process was while locking the Orihara twins into a storage room before his phone rang. And he foolishly answered it without looking at the collar ID.

"Hello?"

  • Author

"Looks like my sisters were giving you trouble," Izaya wouldn't deny that his sisters were extremely annoying at times, but there was no need to throw them into a random storage room and lock them in there. Not even he would go that low. "And I've got to say," He went on. "You get along well with your brother as always. It's kind of gross..."

Short pause. Izaya waited for him to speak, wondering if he had found out if Izaya had set this all up himself or not.

Shizuo wasn't an idiot by far. He had suspected something about this threat had to do with his enemy. 99.99% of the time something went wrong in Ikebukuro it was always Izaya's fault--no questions asked. Just like how 99.99% of the time there was a sign bent or obnoxious screams heard it'd be from Shizuo. It was simple common sense to those in Ikebukuro. The blond, surprisingly calm, looked bored ahead of him, irritated by the droning of Izaya's voice.

"Shut up. A guy, who conveniently hates my brother, who conveniently was walking by te shoot with a knife and just so happened to live in Ikebukuro just came forth. What did you do flea?" Shizuo questioned, her te plastic of his phone crack slightly under the pressure as he felt his will tremble. He was getting angrier.

Izaya gave a flutterly laugh, tilting his head to the side slightly. "Oh come on now," he began, brewing up an excuse. He wasn't very good at thinking up excuses anyways, but that was sometimes at his advantage. It made Shizuo angrier, after all. "Think of it as a favor for all the trouble I've caused you~?" He went on, taking on his usual lilt.

"He posted on the net that he wanted your brother dead. His ex-girlfriend was a fan of Yuuhei's. He thought that Yuuhei stole her away from him, so his excuses have nothing to do with me."

Shizuo frowned deeply. Favor? The brat had no idea how much of a...a nuisance he had been and still was being at the moment. His "helping" was in fact making him more stressed. He knew he had to expect something in terms of Izaya--nothing was ever so simple with him. Shizuo growled trough the speaker of the phone, ready to shoot back a comeback but stopped. From the corner of his eyes something had caught his eye. He could have broken his phone right then and there. The bastard was just across the street.

Shizuo looked at him in distaste, lowering the phone away from his ear slowly, arms hanging limp at his sides as he spoke calmly, an audible growl of displeasure and warnin seeping into the undertone of his words.

"What are you doing here?" He asked simply, impressed with his self-control. The dream, he had to blame it on the dream. If it wasn't for that he wouldn't be bothering to pay attention to his surroundings and who was there.

Izaya still had the phone to his ear, even though he knew Shizuo was no longer interested in speaking over the phone like that when he was right in front of him. "I figured you'd be here if your brother was in some kind of pinch. But," He paused, closing his phone after that and putting it away for the time being.

"there are still some things I need to settle between me and this city. Also, well," He swapped his phone for a knife, flinging it in Shizuo's direction skillfully.

Shizuo saw the knife coming and in those split seconds he managed to focus on where it would land and how he should adjust. In a matter of moving his hea back just slightly he caught the blade. In his mouth. And b clamping his teeth down hard enough, the weapon crumbled to splendid little pieces. He could say this much for Izaya. He had grown a bit bored of the usual chase and run, cat and mouse game. He wanted to push it a little higher--he wanted to up the intensity a step. Step up his game to be precise. In some, illogical way he figured that maybe, just maybe, it'd stop those dreams to out do Izaya. He glared darkly at Izaya, brown eyes intensified dramatically, awaiting what he was to say. The onyx haired male better have had a good reason for pulling such a stunt and stepping foot in Ikebukuro.

"I just wanted to piss you off..." He said sheepishly, giving a shrug, smirking from holding in his laughter. "...I guess?" That was his excuse; it was all he could think of. And, in actuality, it was true. Sure, he was the one who gave the guy Kasuka's schedule, but he was almost positive that Shizuo had that figured out by now. (He knew he wasn't all that stupid.) But now... It didn't seem like he was up to protecting his brother right now. All of his undivided frustration and attention was on him.

And that's how he wanted it to stay.

((BRB while I do my hair...))

Okay~

.

.

.

Shizuo felt himself lose it just slightly.

"Those are your last words then, eh?" He questioned haughtily, giving a wild grin as he raised his voice to a shout. Izaya wanted to piss him off? Fine. He'd been pissing him off for a while now. So now he'd have to face the consequences. Reaching over, Shizuo casually ripped a street sign from it's mount in the cement giving a yell that the citizens of Ikebukuro had Lon since been deprived off hearing. And despite that, it rolled off of Shizuo's lips like it was te easiest thing in the world to say. Naturally. As if he would try to notice that or pay attention to it.

"IIIIIZZZAAAAAYYYAAAAAA-KUUUUUN!!!!" He charged, flinging his sign at him in the ways of his old attack, hoping to fool Izaya. He had some new things up his sleeve. He had learned how to speed up. Shizuo smirked. He was faster.

((Back))

Izaya had developed a bit more skill as well. Rather than sticking to one measley knife, he upped the anty and got more. It took awhile to learn how to use them all, but he had a gut feeling that it'd be worth it. He jumped onto a nearby ledge, steadying himself as more vending machines and the like were thrown at him relentlessly.

Shizuo was unaware of how long their fight lasted. Between the flurry of miniature blades being thrown at him, their crazy acrobatics, the slight ache in his arms from how much he had thrown and how relentlessly, he had lost track of all time. All he was aware of was that it was coming along to dusk, the sunsets glow reflecting off of Izaya's skin at just the right angle to show the bit of sweat lingering on his skin. Like he was one to talk though. Shizuo's breathing was labored as he held his position, ready to go when necessary and continue on this battle. He was already in a grave yard of traffic signs (better that then his friends) and really, how could it get any worse?

Izaya hadn't had to dodge so many objects at once; he was exhausted. "Shizu-chan really improved," He panted, wiping some sweat off of his forehead. It's only been a week, too...Such a pain. He laughed again, this time a bit more heartily, as he realized all eyes were on them. "Are you sure we should keep going?"

((I know I made that sound reeeally sexual, but ignore that, lol))

My mind just creamed xD

.

.

.

Shizuo smirked slightly at the comment. He had worn Izaya out just a little bit. He had tired him out and reduced him to a panting mess. Success. But at Izaya's words the blond vegan to contemplate a few things. What would happen if they kept going? Sure they weren't aiming for anyone else other then their respective enemies but accidents could happen even if one hadn't happened yet. But he wasn't done either. A small thought occured to him and Shizuo leaned forward slightly, limbs complaining and protesting with ache.

"Oh? Why, are you tired flea?" Shizuo questioned, beginning to charge towards Izaya relentlessly.

  • Author
How was he still able to move...? He knew that Shizuo's will was no stronger than his own, and yet he defied his own restraint by lunging at him like that. Izaya stumbled a bit, moving out of the way just in time to miss his charge. He sincerely hoped he didn't plan on chasing Izaya again, because he knew he wouldn't be able to go far without fainting from exhaustion. "No," Izaya protested, struggling to smirk. "Just a little out of practice."

Shizuo could see the struggle in Izaya's eyes as they began to start up their chase again, grinning wickedly, malice lusting throughout his veins. He wanted to prove to Izaya that he would win this time--that this time, he'd be the one watching and laughing. He'd be the one with the smug grin. He'd be the one without the blood of innocents on his hands.

"Bullshit," He breathed, chasing Izaya around a corner down the alley way from when they were younger and in high school. During their first fight chase actually. "You're not fooling-"

BEEP!

Shizuo blinked, dazed and confused. What the hell had just happened?

((EDIT: Bed time, I'm ridiculously tired...))

  • Author
Izaya watched, his grin a bit lopsided as he was well enough to stick around to watch what had just transpired. He gave a small 'pfft' as he saw an ongoing truck pass by and, as Shizuo was frozen in its headlights like a frightened deer, struck him at full force. He landed awkwardly in the road, the heavy vehicle conveying a bit further to wheel on top of him a bit. The question was; did he have enough energy to lift it off of himself?

Shizuo realized just what had happened as he understood he was looking at the underside of a car. Actually a truck to be precise. Exactly what happened in Raira when he had gorgon his chest slashed by Izaya and he had chased him. Except then it had been super painful. Now...it barely stung. Shizuo took a deep breath and bent his arms, using all of his strength. His legsstaggered at first but he remained steady as he growled/yelled, taking the vehicle upon his shoulders and throwing it carelessly behind him. For a second he had wondered if he had hurt anybody but Shizuo knew that really, it was a back route an anybody back there was okay.

Still glaring at Izaya with his glittering maroon eyes and enraging lopsided grin (which would make most girls swoon), Shizuo marched towards him, slamming their foreheads together. He was always a bit taller than Izaya. He liked that about himself.

"I'll firetrucking kill you."

  • Author
Izaya ha barely moved a muscle during all of that, staying in the exact same spot with his hands in his pockets carelessly. He really wanted this to stop; he was tired enough as it was. But he had to keep going or he really would get killed. "Wanna try?" He asked, looking at the truck to the side, flipped over and in flames. He realized that he was giving Shizuo the opportunity to do so, but didn't know how long he'd last like this.
At this point an time Shizuo felt something pulling at him. Izaya was just standing there. A wicked grin flew across his features as he chuckled darkly, cracking his fist. Izaya was tired, tired out. Of course, so was he, but not so much as to not fight or try to dodge anything. This could work to his advantage. He'd show him for bothering him all these years, for making him feel like he was a monster. Shizuo pulled his fists back. This for making him feel like it was--Shizuo's arm faltered as he caught Izaya's eyes, for just that split second. It enraged yet frightened him as he actually had to force his arm to move to punch the male.
  • Author
Izaya, surprised at the movement, was not able to dodge. He was sent backward, stumbling hard against a wall with a strangled gasp. He took a moment to wipe his face of blood (his nose had bled a little). "Shizu-chan... Not so hard~" He taunted, really unable to keep himself up for long. It was only a matter of time before he'd pass out.

Pfft, that sounded so sexual xD

.

.

.

Shizuo surprised even himself at how he manage to actually land the strike on Izaya. And how Izaya stumbled against te brick wall of one of the many buildings of Ikebukuro. A single, thick streak of blood trickle down Izaya's chin but despite that he grinned, taunting him ever so slightly. The onyx haired male could barely move. He was nearly unconscious. Shizuo gained control ever so slightly. It'd be much easier to drag him back to his apartment and kill him there. Not as much of a mess and it would be easier to do without having people watching. So he took Izaya by the coat and slung him over his shoulder, making sure he didn't struggle as he nonchalantly walked down the side walk and achieved odd stares.

"Shut up flea."
