Splendid was about to give up looking for Flippy when something crossed his vision nearly making him drop out of the sky. His fair skin paled to a sickly tinge of green as he faltered down to a horrifically grotesque scene. Three citizens whom he had somewhat know where brutally murdered, blood spattered everywhere. His insides churned.

Flaky was laying motionless, her chin tilted up and delicate skin slashed across the neck, spilling the thick red liquid down her front. Petunia...oh god Petunia. Her innards had been spilled out and been used to strangle Mime and...Splendid keeled over onto his knees, vomiting into a nearby bush. Wiping his mouth he took unsteady steps back, floating shakily into the air.

"Oh...who...who would do this? It's everywhere...Such a horrible thing to--why them?"

Flippy had saw Splendid inspecting the scene and took a breath... Flippy had done that. He gulped, trying to make it look like he had just gotten there. He looked innocent to be there... No suspicion at all. He approached him with light steps, speaking softly, weakly.

"What's... All this?"

Splendid floated back shakily, barely able to keep his body afloat from how much he was trembling. He saw Flippy and shook his head opening his mouth to speak but instead looking downwards. He was so...so disappointed in himself for letting such a massacre happen.

"I...I don't know." He whispered hoarsely, grabbing Flippy's wrist and tugging him away format the scene quickly, unaware the he was currently touching the murderer.

Splendid... He had looked so hurt. It was probably so hard to look at that, knowing that these kind of things were your duty to prevent. He must have felt like a disappointment now. He debated on whether he should just tell him or not. Getting back to the matter at hand...

Flippy definitely wasn't used to being touched either. The smallest touch sent him into a wild fit with himself. "Ah...!" He snatched his arm back, holding it close to himself, a hot blush on his face. "You don't...have to do that..."

Splendid looked at him oddly. Usually he'd press the matter but he just...he was just to torn to do so. He looked at Flippy. He felt even worse for letting Flippy see something so gory.

"I-...I'm sorry. I just...You shouldn't have seen that." Splendid apologized, gently pushing the teen forward away from the scene.

"I've seen worse," He countered, a bit darkly. "trust me." He was in a damn war after all, it's not like he was a delicate little flower like he used to be. He shuddered, remembering all the carnage he had witnessed in the war. It was just terrible...

"O-oh...yeah." Splendid commented, remembering that Flippy had indeed been in quite the war. The bluenette was sure he wouldn't...he wouldnt have lasted long there. If the killing was as severe as the murder back there...No, just no.

"So...h-how are you?" Splendid asked, trying To lighten the mood, sensing the dark aura coming from Flippy.

Flippy struggled to think up a reply other than, Just fine, even though I murdered several people. He tried to smile, succeeding. "Pretty good. Nothing really happened lately..." He remembered to try and start a conversation as well... As hard as that sounded, he had to try. "How... How about you?" He wasn't used to being so... Nice.

Splendid allowed a shaky smile, shrugging as he finally lost the ability to hold himself up and fell to the ground. He found though that he was able to walk just fine. In all honestly, he was shaken up and mad at himself.

"I'm...I'm okay. I was actually looking for you before...before...yeah." Splendid admitted, finally stopping to rest and sit down. Mostly because his legs were starting to give out.

Flippy squatted down in front of him, holding out his hand to him. "Are you sure? You look pretty shaken up..." He said gently, trying to soothe the situation a little more. He looked so distraught and disappointed in himself... He really wanted to tell Splendid that it was him, but... How would he react to that? He'd lose his only friend...

Splendid gave a weak nod, still giving a scared but sweet smile at Flippy. He needed to suck it up honestly. What was done was done, he couldn't do anything about it. He...he had let them die and he couldn't linger on that.

"Y-Yeah, I'm alright. Not used to that is all. I'll be fine," He ruffled Flippy's hair again (being his hat was absent) and grinned. "Don't worry about it."

"If you insist," Flippy replied, shrugging it off as nothing. As they absent-mindedly wandered about, they hadn't noticed that they had easily entered downtown. It was pretty busy today... Flippy looked around, a bit bored with the normal attractions.

"Is there anything you want to do?" He blushed a bit after that outburst, noticing that he just made that sound like they were on a date or something.

Splendid blinked, looking around before shaking his head a bit. He wasn't in the mood to do anything incredibly special--just hang out with Flippy. He smiled genuinely at the pink tint on the teen's cheeks. It was kinda cute to see the color in contrast with his pale complexion. Wait...what?

"Mm, I dunno'. I'm a bit hungry, would you like to eat anywhere special?" He asked, brushing the thoughts clear out of his head.

"Not really, I guess," He replied, motioning towards a fairly simple-looking diner. Good enough, he thought, heading in that direction. "Are you up for something cheap? I don't have much money on me." He said flatly. That wasn't ordinary at all, considering how wealthy Flippy was.

Splendid didn't mind that Flippy was lacking in money. He was getting to hang out with him and that's all that was important on his behalf. It was enough just to have him as company. After all, being lonely wasn't any fun after a while. It wasn't very fun at all.

"Sure, it's no big deal. Cheap is fine with me."

((Okay so now we have to resort to twitting each other that we posted since now my dad says that if I give 5 more texts he'll fake taxing away since that'll be 1000 texts in three weeks :0))

Flippy nodded, gesturing for him to follow him. As the two walked in, there was a mass population of people in the small area it took up. There was only one table left, too... Their lucky day. Without waiting for a hostess, Flippy seated them himself.

"You don't mind it it's this crowded either...?"

Again Splendid shook his head, still beaming, having gotten over his nausea from the scene earlier.

"Only if you do. I'm used to all the noise and stuff. Y'know...being me." He admitted sheepishly, sitting down at the table across from Flippy, Resting his chin on the palms of his hands, elbows on the table to hold himself up. He didn't mean to sound like he was bragging, really he didn't. Splendid wasn't like that.

Flippy gave a small 'hm' at his cocky comment, though he knew he didn't mean to brag or aything. "You're pretty tolerant of most things, aren't you?" He asked, half-joking and half-serious. The waitress (confused since she hadn't remembered seating them,) came up to them, asking for their drink orders.

"Coffee, please. Black."

"Some things really. As you saw...there are just some things I can't really handle..." Splendid murmured before the waitress came up, confused. He smiled tugging lightly at one of the ribbons tying his mask up and grinned. "I'll have a cup of tea please. Oh, with the white chocolate creamer to!" He asked before turning his attention back to Flippy. "What abou you? Sure you've been in the war but that seemed pretty gruesome."

((I just realized, I almost originally made Splendid ask Flippy if he wanted to hang in the arcade. Noooot a good idea xD))

"I've seen a lot of gruesome things in my time... I've grown so accustomed to it that I really don't mind seeing it anymore." He replied, tugging on his dogtag necklace while he waited. Then he smiled, taking one of the ribbons hanging off of Splendid's mask and holding it up mockingly. "You still wear this thing around in places like this? Isn't that a bit unnecessary?" He asked, trying his best not to sound too mean. To be safe, he said it with a smile.

Splendid gave a shy smile, rolling his eyes slightly in return as he looked around quickly. As if hiding a secret.

"Well I have to keep my identity a secret~" Splendid stated, although he allowed Flippy to keep his old on the mask ribbon anyway. He knew he wouldn't be as mean as to rip off his mask or something. That'd be unnaturally mean of him. "And, in your time? You're only a teenage, same age as me. That...must be some tough stuff you're dealing with then."

  • Author

He shrugged, dropping the ribbon carelessly, letting it flutter beside him. "Honestly, I don't think it could possibly compare to being what you are," He searched carefully for the words. "Having to save people all the time... I wouldn't have the patience to do something like that." He admitted, twisting his necklace around his finger. Just then, the waitress set their drinks on the table with a smile, making Flippy nod cutly in thanks.

Splendid felt his smile falter for just a second at that before it reignited as he sip his tea slowly, the sweet creaminess of the coffee creamer flavoring the tea nicely, just how he liked it. But Flippy's comment still rung in his head. Save people? Splendid wasn't an idiot. He knew that those he saved never lasted long. It was just easier to pretend it wasn't his fault really.

"Yeah...I guess you're right. It's not so much patience though as it is control. I can't even use my own gifts correctly half the time..." Splendid muttered, taking another sip of his drink.

Flippy frowned. So he knew... Flippy knew that Splendid wasn't a complete idiot. No one could be stupid enough not to notice that they had killed someone. He was like that himself. No matter how many times he wanted to deny it, he couldn't help the fact that he murdered innocents before; in and out of the war. "I know how you feel..."

Crack.

Splendid looked up. He did? How could Flippy possibly know what it was like to have the feeling of death weighing on your shoulders? To have the blood of someone else to accidentally stain your hands? Just as Splendid was about to question Flippy a loud crack resounded trough the diner, making him jump slightly.

"What on Earth was that?" He asked, navy blue eyes looking around as he searched for the sources of the sound, gripping his tea cup.
