Splendid could sense the awkwardness in between the two of them now even after the kiss. He really regretted saying anything now to his friend. He just wished he had left it with the crush and been happy with that. But now he ruined it. Nicely done Splendid, nicely done...

~

The minute Splendid and Flippy had stepped Into the Lunch Room to get some food to munch on Splendid knew something was really wrong. It was silent. Completely and absolutely silent. On the second story Giggles was glaring, mouth open, at Toothy. He was holding his tray on the staircase to the second story (only the third step up) nonchalantly eating. Looking around he saw the cafeteria to be packed more than usual with no seats. He groaned. Toothy had nowhere to sit so tried to sit on the steps. Even though the steps technically weren't property of the Cool section but Giggles...well she like to think it was.

Oh, great... Flippy sighed, noticing Giggles on the second story glaring at Toothy, who wasn't doing much of anything. He had half a mind to yell at her, but instead waited for her to do something. She was just glaring at him, her mouth hanging open in horror. What was the problem? Toothy can't sit on the stair? What a stuck-up bitch. He leaned over to Splendid's ear to tell him something. "Think she knows she's making herself look like a fool?"

Splendid snorted shaking his head.

"Probably not." Giggles took a deep breath, her heels clicking against the tile of the floor as she walked down a few of the steps, hands on her hips as they swayed back and forth. Splendid wasn't surprised to see the guys following her ass like it was the most devine thing they've ever seen in a mini-skirt. Which it probably was because those guys didn't have anything better to look at than a snooty girl in a short skirt.

She came to a halt a step up from Toothy who lazily popped a nacho into his mouth, wiping the cheese from his lips. It was at times like these Splendid wondered why he hadn't been appointed in the Cool group. He was fairly good looking, fairly athletic with playing tennis and basketball for fun. Girls liked him...a lot. The only reason Splendid could think he wouldn't be Cool is because he was really close friends with Nutty. Yeah, that might have kept him lowered a level.

"What are you doing." Giggles finally asked, a sharp edge to her tone.

"Eating." Splendid had to grin at the calm response.

"But why here?!" Giggles asked pointedly, hands on her hips in annoyance.

"Because I can."

Flippy liked the way Toothy handled things. Like he didn't have a care in the world. And he respected that about him, even if he wasn't cool. He watched as Giggles puffed her cheeks up in irritance, hearing Nutty's insane yet adorable laughing fill the room as he entered, clearly buzzed off of sugar. Immediately, everyone laughed along, thinking that Nutty was laughing at Giggles for being irrational. The room was no longer silent.

That was more like it.

Splendid found he was one of them laughing along with the group even as he looked at Nutty and saw he was now giving an awkward laugh but was seriously confused as to what was going on. He shook his head. Silly kid...Giggles' face was flushed a deep crimson a she was laughed at. She struggled to keep her cool, her cheeks puffing out in a very unattractive way as she stomped her foot like a spoiled brat.

"No. You can't you pathetic brat. This isn't your section. Go sit with your freak of a friend over there, giggling like a lunatic, and know your place." She spat, pointing a manicured nail at Nutty still standing in the doorway. Whether everyone was silent because they were shocked or because they were feeling a bit...discomforted by Giggles' words Splendid wasn't sure. But he was sure he saw Toothy's violet eyes narrow dangerously at the comment. Splendid didnt have a good feeling about this. But he was surprised when Toothy merely went back to eating his food.

"How 'bout no."

  • Author
Flippy was astounded as Toothy defied Giggles yet another time, going back to quietly eating his food like nothing happened. Both Splendid and Flippy gave nervous laughs along with the crowd, who fell silent at Toothy's reply. Not even Nutty's giggle could get them going again. Nutty's obnoxious laughing had died down again, noshing on his lollipop (the big kind with rainbow swirls like the ones at Disney Land) in content, making quiet 'mm' noises as he sucked on it. Flippy rolled his eyes. Such behavior was typical for the likes of calorie-craved Nutty.

Giggles finally lost it as her tempertantrum ensued violently. For starters, as she was unable to express her rage in words, she promptly kicked the tray with Toothy's food out of his hands as it landed on a stray table, startling those who sat there as the nacho cheese splattered. Toothy's frown deepened. Splendid watched in awe. Was she for real? She really must have been having an off day. First Lumpy died at her party in her house and now she was acting all pissed about it and trying her best to keep her title of queen of the school.

"How 'bout yes you low down, dirty, waste of space! You're nothing to anyone in this school, nothing! Do you hear me? Now you need to go and do as I say or else--" She was hushed immediately by Toothy standing up and giving her a glare that caused a few of the Average girls to swoon.

"You need to stop acting like you own everyone and go buy me a new Lunch and apologize to the girls over there." He said, motioning to the table where his lunch had fallen, the nacho cheese splattered onto a few of the girls and their clothes. Giggles seethed.

"firetruck you." Splendid carefully sat down, intrigued by everything that was panning out.

Flippy sat down beside Splendid, crossing his legs over the vertical step. He can't say he wasn't expecting Giggles to freak out like that, especially when someone with an attitude as infuriating as Toothy's was mocking you. He just assumed Toothy was trying to ignore her up to the point she just exploded on him. Flippy simply shrugged it off; just another day at work for Giggles. Flippy wasn't that hungry, so he just sat there, occassionally conversing with Splendid or Handy.

Splendid half-listened to the conversation between Handy and Flippy, but perked up when Handy starte talking about his "interests".

"So, um, have you talked to Petunia today?" He asked, attempting to be nonchalant about his questioning as he looked up to see the bluenette female looking at him momentarily on the second story before looking away to shake her head at Giggles. The pink haired female was sputtering behind gasps of fury as Toothy made her walk to the lunch line and buy him nachos. She shoved them into his hands and he grinned in triumph, turning to wave Nutty over to sit with him instead of standing in the middle of the Lunch Room, sucking his lolli.

Nutty was basically a dog to all of his friends; he'd do anything they told him to without a second thought. So, without questioning him, Nutty gladly followed, bringing his giant lollipop with him. (Nutty hated being anywhere without his candy.) Flippy watched as the students filling the lunchroom gradually settled down, some of them pointing and laughing at Giggles's lack of poise there. Flippy found himself laughing too.

"No."

"Ah..." Handy glanced back up at Petunia who waved sweetly at him sending him into a fit of awkward blush. Turning back to Flippy he looked at Splendid and then the green haired teen, leaning back against the wall, keeping his voice low.

"So where were you and Splendid before Lunch?" He asked, adjusting his prosthetic arm carefully. Toothy smiled in seeing Nutty plop down happily next to him indulging in the nachos he was given just moments ago.

Flippy blushed, remembering how they had...Er, kissed.... But he wasn't going to enclose that to anyone. Or at least not until he was ready. "Just... Hanging out," Flippy shrugged, moving his foot nervously like he had Restless Leg Syndrome or something. He had the urge to ask 'why' since a lot of people knew that they skipped together all the time. The laughs of Petunia, Giggles, and Nutty mixed together was starting to bother him.

Handy smiled knowingly before looking at the ceiling. He had been hanging around the two for a very long time. It was kind of obvious Splendid's feeling fir Flippy were more than friendship. He couldn't help but wonder sometimes if they really just "hung out" like they said they did.

"Ah, I see. Same old, same old I guess." He looked back at Flippy curiously. "You okay? You're a bit...off I guess?"

  • Author
Flippy nodded, a bit quickly, mind you. "Yeah, I'm fine." He said, fingering through his dogtags like he usually did when he was distracted. He glanced over to Splendid quickly before looking to the ground, blushing. He was questioning himself; should I tell him to play it off as if nothing happened, or should I just continue living with this awkwardness? He sincerely wanted for them to stay as good friends, like last time. He didn't know if he was all that comfortable with all this tension.

Splendid looked back at Flippy, noticing he was playing with his dog-tags. Splendid knew what that meant--he was thinking, deeply. Something was in his mind. Splendid frowned. He had a feeling he knew what was bothering Flippy, it was what he had said about loving him wasn't it? He felt like...he felt like an idiot for pushing his luck. Obviously Flippy wasn't ready to hear something like that. Feeling a bit to stuffy in the crowded cafeteria he got up and left the crowded room hastily. He needed to clear his head...or just...for once, be without his best friend.

"God I'm such a...What was I thinking?"

  • Author

Flippy saw Splendid leave and felt slightly guilty. He couldn't help but follow after him, thinking that it was partly his fault.

"Splendid?" He muttered, pulling softly at his friend's sleeve. He waited for a reply, the tension killing him at this point. "Hey, if I did something... I'm sorry," He apologized, not knowing what else to do in this situation than that. He wasn't good with love... Or whatever he was feeling for Splendid, anyways. If he hadn't made it any more obvious, he definitely liked him a lot more than a friend. He just wanted them to be happy, was that so much to ask?

Splendid turned back to Flippy, a half-hearted smile was on his lips as he shook his head, looking at Flippy as sincerely as he could.

"No, you didn't do anything wrong. It's just..." He faced Flippy fully, biting his lower lip. "Be honest with me--do you really love me? If you don't it's okay, I kinda'...I said things a little to fast so I mean if you were pressured I get it I won't do it again and--" Splendid heard himself ramble as he began to speak nonsense (which he always did when he wanted to make a situation better but couldn't find the words to do so).

  • Author
Flippy wanted to say yes, but... if he wanted honesty, then he'd give it gladly. "Splendid, I..." He took a breath. "I do like you, but I don't know if I feel that strongly..." He fumbled around with the hem of his jacket nervously. "Believe me, I want to love you, I just... I need a little time." He shrugged, looking in the opposite direction. "...You can understand that... Can't you?" Flippy blushed, trying not to make it sound like he was being too hard on him.

Splendid nodded, still smiling. He knew Flippy was being honest--and that was fine. He just wished he had been honest the first time around to save them this effort. Swallowing and making sure no one was coming around the corner he pulled Flippy into a hug, nuzzling the teen's neck. Splendid smiled, taking a deep breath and looking up at Flippy.

"That's all you had to say."

  • Author

Flippy sputtered a bit, hugging him back hesitantly. "Oh...U-Uh..." He was at a loss for words, speechless at the sudden display of affection. Nevertheless, he couldn't help but smile, kissing the top of his head. "S-Sorry I didn't say it earlier, then..." He murmered. That's when he heard laughing again... The same laughing that occurred before. The same that belonged to Nutty.

Although Nutty had saw them together, he walked off laughing anyways. He assumed it was because of his sugar high... He sighed.

((Kay. To the next day -- Drama period.))

Flippy was zoning out the entire period, thinking of what he was going to do for the remainder of the day. Even though it was only 4th period, a lot was going on in his mind. That aside, he needed to practice. He wasn't all for Drama, as he told Flaky before, but somehow... He felt more at ease reading his lines in front of someone like her. She seemed to accept how he wasn't perfect -- after all, it was something she could relate to.

Even so... Lifty and Shifty had been extra brutal on her lately. She didn't deserve all the torment she got, no matter how imperfect she was in other people's eyes.

It was true. Flaky was being tormented by them much more since the threat Russell had made them. It was ranging all over. From the physical beatings (which she was doing a fairly good job of hiding courtesy of a magic thing called cover-up) to threatening notes describing pretty...grotesque physical harm they planned on doing to her. She was frightened by all of it, especially since they had started to hurt pretty badly on Friday before they got distracted with their...erm...relationship activities.

"S-So...how've you been?" Flaky asked quietly, looking up from her script when she was sure the teacher wasn't listening in on them. She hasn't been able to talk to him much--he was to busy with his other friends as if late. So she really looked forward to this period when he was able to talk to her freely without many distractions.

Flippy was brought back to reality, thanks to Flaky's voice. He snapped out of the small daze he was in the middle of, answering her quickly. "Oh, well... Kinda stressful, but generally pretty good... What about you? No one has been bothering you, have they?" He asked, a hint of danger in his tone as he used his script packet as a fan. It was insanely hot in this school ever since the air conditioner broke down. He really had to take off his jacket after he left this class...

Flaky bit her lip, twirling with the loose ends of her ponytail. She had had to pull her long red hair up in a pony-tail and put some extra clips to hold the fly-away hairs off of her neck due to the heat. She debated on telling Flippy of the tormenting she was getting and almost decided the better of it. But then again--they were friends. It should be okay to tell him right?

"Well...L-Lifty and Shifty have been picking on me through notes but it's nothing I can't handle." Flaky said, lying slightly through her teeth. It was actually really hard to handle. With all of those horrible acts explained in high-detail of what they'd do to her she was sometimes scared to sleep at night. She shivered.
