Sunlight filtere through the cracks of the exposed window, otherwise hidden by a sheer, plaid curtain. The sky was a pure blue, not a single cloud in the sky, and down below the streets of this Italian town were bustling with people. From the customers stopping into Miss Grettle's bakery to buy some of her new Danishes to the rude passerby trying to get to work, it seemed the whole town was crowded with anticipating residents. In the center of this smog of people was a large structure, simple yet grand, and it was known most commonly as Mary Anne's Home For The Needy. Otherwise referred to has the local orphanage for those kids who had suffered the absence of their parents. There all the ages ranged from infants to near adults just slipping from their teenage years and into adulthood to support themselves. Of course, some of those grown orphans chose to stay in the building. In exchange for food and hospitality they were given common household duties to perform. One of these specific individual girls was Kat. And Kat was just waking up to be introduced to this brand new day.

Her form rose from the cushions on her bed, blond hair cascading down her back behind her as she blinked one sapphire eye open blearily, the small rays of sunlight warming her fair skin. Glancing over her shoulder, the clock on her bedside read 8:45 am. Just in time for her to get ready to wash the windows and watch the newborns. Joy. Being 24, the eldest in the orphanage, was always fun. It was a bug responsibility. Kat didn't like the weight one her shoulders. Not when the owner often comment that if her time was to come, Kat would be the next one to inherit the building. She didn't want that. The blond didn't want to be contain her the rest of her life. Not at all.

"Today's going to be very boring isn't it..?"

In the distance, just on the outskirts of that town, in the rising sun's glare were a few silhouettes, watching careful, analyzing eyes. One a bit in the center gave a deep exhale, closing his crimson red eyes in what was either content or aggravation. Those surrounding him shifted, one with especially long hair giving him a glance.

"Voi...is that the place?"

"It is. The orphanage."

Bani wasn't exactly pleased to hear that someone new would be joining the Varia... She was enjoying being the only female in the group. But she figured that it'd probably do them some good -- they used all the support they could get. She looked down at the boring place with a slight sigh. Do I have to? No, she couldn't ask that... Not without the risk of Xanxus or Squalo scaring her.

Then, she smiled. Bel's gonna have fun killing all those orphans. Ha. With newfound excitement, she turned to the others. "So," She began. "When are we going?"

((OH GOD ALLIE. THE NEW SOUTH PARK BROADWAY SHOW 'THE BOOK OF MORMON' HAS ANDREW RANNELLS AS THE LEAD PART!!!))

  • Author

((Sorry for the really late reply. And are you serious? Andrew Rannells?! Whenever ai think that I think Kish from Mew Mew Power and Ren from Shaman King xD))

Squalo gave a sharp glare in Bani's direction as Xanxus scoffed under his breath. Had she not read the file hand out to then in the beginning of the meeting 3 hours before? No, of course not. It was very likely she had fallen asleep halfway through or something unsuitable like that. Squalo had known it'd be a bad idea to add another Snow Guardian that was another female. Anika and Abril had been enough. Granted though, he silently wished they hadn't retired. It wasn't as if he had an imps ding issue with Bani; she was just as hyper as Abril and just as skilled as Anika. But the twins state awake and payed attention whenever they could. Even during the Ring Conflict when they got severly injured they made it a point to listen to Xanxus and Squalo (who had been shouting orders from the viewing station). Even if it was the very reason they left the Varia they made the promise to stay in touch and to help whenever they could. The twins were reliable like that. But being new, Squalo wasn't quite sure what he could trust Bani to do. The only confirmation he had that Bani was worthy to be in this group was her origination and how she pummeled through every battle she had when facing the Varia for qualifications and whatnot...

"VOI! The mission was to get the girl and go," The swordsman shot a glare at a blond male next to him, blinking as the shimmer from his tiara blinded him a bit. Bel was reluctant in every way in removing it. The annoying little brat. "And to not have any casualties that'd make our job difficult.

"That's right," Xanxus interrupted, sliding his red eyes open again to glare dangerously through his ashy bangs. "Get in, get the girl at whatever costs, and go. That's that." No one questioned him at that.

((I have to go to Sarah's Graduation again so I don't know how delayed my reply will be this time. But I do plan on RP-ing all night with you ;D))

Bani was slightly irked. "Alright, Squalo, Jesus. Yank your panties outta your ass, it was only a question." She aimed that mostly (if not all of it) at Squalo since she didn't dare question or backtalk Xanxus -- especially not when he's giving direct orders. For the record, that's when he's at his scariest. That aside, she was certain Bel either wasn't listening to begin with, or just didn't care. He simply shrugged at Squalo's remark, which was definitely supposed to hint to Bel not to do anything reckless. Which was blasphemy. He's a motherfiretrucking prince. He claims he has the right to do as he pleases, so it's not like he's gonna go out of his way to actually listen to what anyone has to say, ever.

((I really wanna go see it. ;-; It looks hilarious. And Andrew Rannells as the main character? MUST HAVE.))

  • Author

((DO WANT. On my way to the graduation. It starts at 10 yet we're there at 9? The hell man. But at least I can try to RP within that hour with you.))

Squalo growled under his breath at the remark, flinging his sword about in a more flail-like manner. He was pissed at Bani and her attitude. All the time. It was ridiculous really, she never miss a comment for a sarcastic remark about someone else. Squalo hope this new girl had a strong will to not strangle people or else she have a hard time here with the Varia. Even Squalo let his control slip once or twice.

"Shut up! No one asked for a response--" The click of a gun is what silence him this time, as he looked back to see Xanxus with his gun out of his holester and ready to kill. He wasn't too happy at their bickering.

"I told you to leave and get going." Giving a loyal nod Squalo headed out with the others following him closely.

At the orphanage Kat was in a much better mood, humming and nearly dancing as her music blasted catchy beats from her headphones. At least that was one thing that could make her job of cleaning every window on a three story enjoyable. Even if the music came from a crappy CD player a younger orphan by the name of Gigi had given her for her 16th birthday a while back. She aquifers some more of the Windex onto the intolerable glass singing along under her breath and turning up the music. She was unaware, as she swayed her head back and forth, of the intruders entering below on the first floor.

((I just imagined Bani kicking down the door and being like, "NOBODY MOVE...[dramatic pause]...I LOST MY CONTACT LENS."))

Bani saluted, somewhat sarcastically. "Aye aye, cap'n." She replied dully, following behind Squalo and the others. As they continued on, Bani made a smirk of triumph, laughing a bit under her breath. Not getting in trouble and instead having someone else get a death threat amused her. Squalo being the most annoying. So that was undoubtedly a good thing. She looked around at the others, just to see what they were doing. She double-taked at her teammates, ignoring how Squalo was giving orders at the moment. (On a side note, she didn't think he deserved to be second in command because it made Levi butthurt and Bel jealous.) Bani blinked, narrowing her eyes in disbelief. Wait... Just to be sure, she counted.

Are we missing someone? What the f- 1, 2, 3.... She analyzed them all. In a bit of a frenzy, she tugged on Squalo's sleeve. He didn't just firetrucking pull that shit on us. "Hey, where'd Bel go?"

  • Author

((Oh my God best visual ever xD I laugh at that last sentence. God dammit Bel!))

Squalo look down at Bani, about to snap at her for interrupting him before looking around, blinking with a momentary, stupefied look. The brat had a good point. Where the hell was he? He looked around for that head of blond hair. Under any normal mission circumstances he'd be panicking-what if the enemy had him? What if he died? But now he was more annoyed. Because Bel was in a house filled to the brim with orphans. Children that didn't matter to the people of the town. No one would mourn for them. The perfect opportunity for Bel's long denied killing spree.

"Oh for the love of-VOOOOI!!! BEL!" He had to find him fast, he decided while pulling away from Bani and glancing around. He spotted a few orphans dead. That's why there's all this panic. "That's for letting me know Bani. Try and find the girl before he kills her on accident. Stupid brat prince....

Up above, Kat jumped as she hurt a loud shout from the first level. What had that been? Who yelled. Placing down her cleaning utencil's, the blond catering peeked around the corner, glancing at the suddenly dark flight of stairs.

"I'm on it." While the others looked for Bel (who had probably already moved to the second story by now), she walked around looking for the girl. She was lucky enough to have the stupid photo with her -- she wasn't very good with remembering faces. She opened every door, closet, hamper, etc. Mostly just carnage. If he already got to her, Xanxus is gonna have our asses. She was getting tired, on the last of the levels, and firetrucking tired of climbing stairs. Doesn't this place have an elevator? There was a pretty good riot up there, about the yelling, that is. Most of them probably had no clue some of the orphans were being killed right at this very moment.

She stopped in a doorway, looking down at the photo, then back up at the girl in the room. That's her? She stayed there, remembering her orders not to injure her or anything. She has to be safe and sound upon arrival. With a sigh, she approached her, locking the door behind her just in case. "Hi."

~Meanwhile, Bel was having the absolute time of his life. Killing orphans wasn't a bad opportunity for him -- he hadn't properly killed this many people without it being on a mission or something. He was finishing up the second level, moving on to the next. He hadn't bothered to clean his own skin of the blood he had gotten on him, but took care to clean off his knives. That sadistic homo.

  • Author

((HNNNNG BEL. It wasn't even meant to sound alluring but it was xD))

Kat eyes the mysterious girl as she walked into the room, taking notice of the door clicking behind her. She analyzed her. Bright pink hair. Matching eyes. A questionable attire. Who the hell was she? The blond took a step backwards, pinning a few rebellious strands behind her ear as she flicked her eyes to the corner where her cleaning equipment was. A broom would be good right? Or maybe the shovel in case this woman was stronger than she appeared. It was an awkward silence between the two of them.

"....Hi." Kat was bewildered and frightened. The screams were now reaching her ears from behind the closed and now locked door behind the intruding pinkette and she was feeling quite uneasy about it. Then she noticed the attire the girl was wearing again. Was she...was she an assassin or something? Who sent assassins to an orphanage?! She gulped, moving closer to her close where the tools were. "Who are you?"

Down below Squalo was closing in on Bel as he ruthlessly killed off the last few kids in his way, giggling like a maniac. Squalo expertly grabbed the blinds wrists and turned him around, sword at his stomach to render him useless for the moment. Squalo growled, his sharp eyes narrowing dangerously.

"What are you thinking dammit? Xanxus is going to kill us!"

((Lol, how was that alluring? xD (Actually Bel is alluring without doing anything.)))

Bani rolled her eyes. That was one of the most cliche questions to ever ask a mysterious person infiltrating your room. Not a nice conversation, not a knock knock joke. Nope. Just because she was an assassin didn't mean she always had to kill people. (Wait...) "I'd rather skip the formalities," She began. "sorry if that 'offends' you. Just gotta do my job." Without saying anything else, she hoisted the stranger (soon to be teammate) over her shoulder and kicked the glass out of a nearby window.

~Hardly coherent, Bel gave the most morbid replies when he was in this state. "Ahh...~" He was out of it, lolling his head back. "I wasn't done yet~"

  • Author

Kat struggled the minute she heard the glass shattering. She could only assume that the female had kicked her window out (which was a shame since she had cleaner it so flawlessly) and that frightened her. They were on the 3rd story of the building for crying out loud. Did she really not realize how dangerous that was?! Flailing a bit and looking behind her, Kat squealed when she saw the ground below her and the amount of vertigo it was giving her. Oh God she was going to be sick. She looked incredulously at the pinkette, pointing frantically to the ground.

"Are you insane?!" The blond couldn't understand this. What was happening and why was it to her? Why this orphanage? Wad the owner targeted? Was she supposed to be a hostage or something? Why me???

Squalo was about to viciously snarl out a response before his alert ears picked up the sound of glass clattering. Rolling his eyes, he flung Bel behind him, giving him a sloppy piggy back ride and heading to the back entrance where he saw shards on the cement outside.

"Looks like Bani has her. I'll deal with you later."

Bani seemingly throught over the question, pausing. "Yeah." She finally replied, her expression unchanged and her tone just as dry. Hopping down from the window, she dismounted perfectly, as high jumps were nothing special to them. She turned to the doorway, motioning for the others to follow. "I got her." She declared proudly. "Can we go home now?" She didn't ask why Bel was on Squalo's back, and instead gestured back the way they came.

~"Put me doooown," Bel protested, yanking Squalo's hair defiantly as he was lifted. "the prince can walk on his own~~"

  • Author

Kat had the breath taken out of her as she landed softly on the floor. How had she managed to keep her safe like that? And Kat couldn't help but shiver at the girl's answer. Yes. Yes she was insane. What kind of people were taking her? When she heard the girl talking again she looked up at the direction her voice was aimed at. There were two more odd people. One with long silver hair falling to his knees and the other being carried on his back albeit reluctantly. He was covered in blond. His blond hair was stained red. His clothing was soaked with red. He was bathing in the blood of the orphans that had been inside. It all clicked with Kat. The screams, the struggle...Everyone was dead. As the blond finally registered that statement she felt herself grow dizzy and then proceeded to black out entirely, fainting in this mysterious woman's grasp.

Squalo promptly elbowed Bel in the stomach, urging him to shut up please before he skewered him. He nodded with a grunt in Bani's direction before blinking as their target slumped lifelessly. He narrowed his eyes.

"VOI! Is she okay?!"

Bani looked back at the blonde girl on her shoulder; she hadn't noticed she passed out at all. She shrugged, trudging back up the way they came. "Yeah, she'll be fine." She glanced behind herself, raising an eyebrow at Bel, who was still pulling at Squalo's hair, digging his bloodied fingers into his scalp, giggling like a wierdo as he did so. "What about him?" She nodded in Bel's direction. "That's the worst I've ever seen him."
  • Author

Squalo flinch as Bel's nails took a few pieces of hair with them while he attempted to control him somewhat as they went back to the meeting spot where Levi would be waiting with helicopter, Lussuria and Mammon inside. The mission was a success. But now the Vongola would have to deal with keeping this big "scene" under cover from opposing mafia groups. If people heard about the new guardian they were recruiting...all hell would break loose on their ends. And God forbid the Millefiore found out. Then this would be bad. It was hard enough keeping Mammon safe from assassins as well aiming to get his god damn pacifier for who knows what reason. He looked back at Bel, adjusting the blond on his back before shrugging.

"I don't know. He'll live. When is he ever okay?" Squalo questioned, trudging up the hill to the awaiting transportation. He just wanted to get up and go.

Bel eventually got tired out, resting his chin atop Squalo's head, panting from struggling and...being sadistic. Yeah. They finally reached their escape route, Bani carelessly tossing the passed out girl into the helicopter, climbing in carefully herself. She fixed her hair up a bit, facing her other teammates with a sigh. "That was surprisingly time-consuming."

Mammon, also there with them, looked down at their newest recruit with a slight scoff. "...That's her?"

"'Parrently."

"...Ah."

  • Author

((I love how doubtful they are of her xD))

Kat stirred slightly from her unconscious state as she was dropped none to gently on a somewhat cushioned surface, drawing her form tighter to feel safer. She very vaguely heard voices surrounding her, one being that female's voice and the other being one she didn't recognize. Another voice resounded through her ear, heavier and more...doubtful. She crinkled her brow. What were they expecting from an orphan? It's not like she could do anything of use to them, right?

"Her? That girl is our new Hail Guardian?" Hail...Guardian?

Squalo dumped Bel on the other seat next to Mammon, leaning against the walls of the helicopter, not flinching as they vibrated while Levi, the one who spoke, started the vehicle up.

"Yes. Her." Levi made a face from the cockpit but didn't say more as he received a death glare from Xanxus, who was apparently attempting to nap.

((Sorry if my replies are delayed, I'm watching Fantasia xD))

Bani crossed her legs, leaning back whilst raking her fingers through her hair. She sighed. "She knows how to fight?" Bani scoffed, obviously unimpressed and doubtful. "I'd be surprised if the poor thing could use a fly swatter correctly, let alone use a weapon of higher standard." Mammon seemed to be the only one actually... 'hopeful' of her at the moment.

"Just give her a chance," He cut in softly, earning some attention. Out of all of them (besides Squalo and Xanxus, respectively), he was probably the most negative and ambiguous person in the Varia. "you call her weak when I'm sure more than half of you were nothing compared to what you are right now." Bani looked to the ground in reminiscnence, remembering how she was weak as firetruck when she first entered... Good times.

  • Author

((Thank you Mammon! At least he has faith in Kat xD))

Kat frowned. Weapon? She was expected to fight?! Sure she could defend herself a bit but she had no style of her own, nothing unique that'd make her stand out at all. She couldn't imagine doing any of this. Whatever they were talking about anyway. But she was somewhat thankful for the soft voice next to her that seemed to quiet down the others and their opinions. The queasiness in her stomach was still just as intense, if not more, as the thing they were in lifted off. She's never flown before in a plane or anything. She could only assume that was what they were in. Kat made a sound of discomfort, her blond hair falling over her face as she adjusted. Squalo watched her before glancing up at Mammon and then Bel and then Bani. To be honest, he was surprised that the girl hadn't tried running away. Or maybe she did but he didn't know...

"That's right. None of us were skilled when we joined, at least not as much as we are now. She'll learn."

"But she'll have to learn quickly to join us." Levi commented from the front. Which was true. She still had to go through the battles and win at least half of them...Sounds like mission impossible but that's how it was to be done.

"Yeah," Bani agreed, looking around the room to the others. "or else she'll probably get herself killed." The fun thing about the Varia Regulation Battles was that there weren't any rules to doing things -- you're free to kill anyone you want. Bani remembered when she got into the Varia... She almost didn't get in. She still had that big-ass scar across her chest.

She looked down at her, noticing her moving a bit, but didn't say anything. She also noticed Bel was sleeping. Cute.

  • Author

((Sorry, watching Jeff Dunham now >>))

Kat stiffened at those words, trying hard not to show that she was fully alert and awake now. She had the possibility of being killed? Well, actually she knew that. But she didn't know that this soon...She didn't want to be here. She wanted to go back, to go home. To go back to--....the orphanage. That's right, I can't.Because they were all dead. That blond bastard killed them. She had to get out of here...Squalo sighed, kicking off the wall to the helicopter and walking over to the blond girl in interest.

"She'll be killed if we beat her. We can't kill her without her going through all of us in battle."

Bani rolled her eyes, giving a smug smile. "Oh, you. It doesn't matter if she gets in or not -- it won't make a difference." She looked out the window, seeing that they were almost there. She knew that the girl was awake, so she didn't bother, instead carrying Bel, who was still sound asleep. She held Bel up bridal style, stepping over the blonde girl as they landed. "You carry the girl," She said. "I did last time."
  • Author

Squalo rolled his eyes, picking the blond up with an aggravated sigh. At least he wasn't carrying the blood covered brat. He didn't need more of his hair being ripped out to be quite honest. He ignored how the form he held squirmed a bit under his touch. He held a tight grip on her though. He didn't need their maybe recruit to run away from them or attempt an escape. Because then Xanxus would shoot her and they'd have to do another kidnap and risk Bel slaughtering more innocents. Then again Xanxus wouldn't do that after the 9th made it clear not to do anything to injure her. Unless she didn't make it in the Varia of course.

"Yeah, yeah." He muttered. Kat's heart thumped in her chest as she felt anxiety taking over her. She willed herself though, as heat burned against the lids of her eyes, to open them. She was met with sunlight temporarily blinding her but above her was a man. The same man with silver hair. She could guess it was Squalo. As he looked down at her momentarily she gave a small 'eep' of surprise.

Bani heard her noise of surprise and smirked, looking back at her without saying anything. She didn't feel like getting the key out, either, so she kicked the door in instead, tossing Bel onto an unoccupied sofa... He didn't wake up. "What're we gonna do with her?" She asked, sitting on a stair, resting her chin in her palm boredly. "I vote we just leave her here."

"Don't you think she'll be confused?" Mammon cut in again.

"...So?"

"We should at least explain things to her."

"You do that."

  • Author

Kat didn't like how they were speaking as if she wasn't there. Like she was just a figment of their imagination they could calmly disregard. She also didn't like how Squalo, the one holding her, decided it'd be necessary to drop her casually on the floor in front of the group. Three more men followed after them as she examine the room, one with vibrant colored hair, one with umbrellas protruding from his back holster, and the other looking very menacing indeed. She could only deter he was the boss. It was just that...aura he held around him. As the two, the one with pink hair and one with a hood hiding his face, spoke, she decided to cut in, her voice small and u sure. After all, it wasn't as though they had exactly explain things to her earlier.

"E-Excuse me...but who are you?" Kat asked softly, gaining the attention from Squalo and the others. The one that she assumed to be the boss gave a tired yawn, sitting down on a throne-like chair across from her and next to the pinkette.

"We're the Varia. The Vongola's Private Assisination Squad." Kat blinked. Who..?

"In other words, consider it a high honor that you're here," Bani continued, noting the confused look she had. By the look of her, though, I doubt she'll be here for long. The hell did boss see in her anyways? Bani continued to boredly look at her nails, picking out some dirt and God-knows-what to make them nice and clean. "so it'd probably be a good idea to get used to being confused. There's a lot to learn." She smiled, not intimidatingly, but not sweetly. "'Specially judging by how uneducated you look." What a bitch.
