After searching for great animes to watch I saw that on almost every "Top Anime List" of this decade FLCL was on Rank 1 or 2.

So with very high expectations I watched it.

In my opinion it is a complete mindf***! I thought it was good and I enjoyed watching it but I don't have the urge to watch it again or call it extraordinary or a masterpiece.

I felt to me like the anime just purposely threw random stuff at you to confuse you and make you think "WTF just happened?!"

 

I thought it was funny but it wasn't that hilarious.

I understood what was happening in the anime I just couldn't understand why or how.

 

And people don't tell me "You didn't think it was a masterpiece because you don't get it!"

I get it.... it is purposely random, it is fresh, the music is awesome I gotta admit ect. ect. and I liked it.

But I don't get how so many people see it as a masterpiece and are saying it is the best anime they've ever seen.

it's one of those shows you'd have to watch a few times to truly understand. there are alot when the anime just has fun with itself but essentially it has alot to do with growing up and things of the sort. in short it's a coming of age show done in a childish way.

I understand what the anime tries to convey and I understand which stylistic devices Kazuya Tsurumaki is using and it is pretty creative. But I still didn't enjoyed the anime as much as I should referring to the hype.

Btw I am watching Gurren Lagann now and I enjoy it WAY more than FLCL. It is epic.. even tho' it is ranked worse in all lists and critics.

oh i get why it's number one now. and yes it was pretty much the only reason i'm still even interested in anime. the show changed alot of peoples lives when it first aired on adult swim.

i get why it's number one on the list. when FLCL came it it came with alot of themes that were very uncommon in anime. but the main character was very similar to alot of the people who watched shows on adult swim. for starters he wasn't an adult at all. also he was bratty. kind of a know it all too. but he wanted to be more than that so he could impress the girl he liked. it was something simple that alot of people could relate to. also the show itself is the epitome of anime. think of something anime related and the odds are this show has it. every single anime theme was fit into six episodes that were able to tell a story about life itself in a way that made you think about yourself and the world of anime.

I like the theme but it's not like FCLC invented it. it was brought up by many other animes and even more mangas before it.

flcl invented nothing but revolutionized anime it's hard to explain

Well I watched FLCL and maaany maaany other animes. I don't think there is a big gap of creativity between FLCL and other animes i like. But yeah... .

Couldnt get into the manga, kinda boring. The anime was cool. Yeah it was one of my first anime and it was great! Maybe not the best of all time but I still enjoyed it a lot. ^^

you didn't watch it when it first came out. if you watch anime and take into consideration the trends that it started then it would makes more sense .
