BioWare Teases New Game in VGA Trailer

Although it's home to the industry's most popular video game awards show, Spike TV is well-known for its some of the biggest developer/publisher announcements this side of E3. As its VGAs draw closer, we're starting to see details surrounding the ceremony's big reveals trickle out -- and BioWare's next game is one of the most exciting.

We still don't know much, what with the masterful marketing going on here. The teaser trailer pimps "a new direction, a new game, from a new BioWare studio" with a pinch of footage from the upcoming unveiling.

The glimpse shows a tank feeding it to a few APCs on a road, as well as a skyscraper that bursts into dusty chunks. The first thing to cross our mind? We miss Mercenaries. Hey, BioWare merged with Pandemic, the crew who made that, before EA bought them out! EA shut down Pandemic in 2009, thus cancelling Mercs Inc. Are EA and BioWare bringing back Mercenaries?

Given BioWare's history, a new IP is more likely than a reboot. But hey, tanks, 'splosions, potentially on Earth for once? That'd be a nice change of pace. As for the "new BioWare" studio, we'll have to wait for the official word to see who's working on it. BioWare opened a development house in Montreal in 2009, though they've been working alongside the Edmonton team. Has BioWare branched out with yet another new development studio?

Mysterious, y'all. You can catch the awards and announcement on Saturday, December 10 on Spike.
