Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku blinked when everyone suddenly had accessories on them. He watched as Kairi flicked the pompom on Sora's head and giggled, and he lifted his hand to the top of his head and felt the same thing. "What?" he questioned quietly, then looking over his shoulder and seeing tiny wings on his back. This was the present? That was ridiculous!

Lightning looked at Riku and laughed, though she quickly took off the headband on her head before Riku would notice it and make any smart remarks. Serah also sat up and looked over at the silver-haired teen, laughing louder than Lightning at the sight. If Riku had a mirror, he'd probably laugh too.

Riku blinked, looking over at the sisters as they laughed at him. He sighed and pulled the headband from his head with a grunt. The others enjoyed them, but Riku wasn't having any of it. Obviously he looked ridiculous, since Lightning and Serah were laughing so hard.

"Aww," Namine cooed, examining the headband that had been over her blonde hair. She now held it in her hands, looking to Mog as he flew around the area with glee. He was happy to grant his gifts. He obviously liked to be a people pleaser.

"Nuh uh!" Serah cried, reaching over and snatching the headband out of Riku's hands before she began to put it on his head again. "It's a gift! It's rude not to wear it!" She was determined to get Riku to wear both the headband and the wings--The combination made Lightning laugh. And it made Serah laugh too. She wouldn't admit it, but she really needed a reason to laugh.

"Ah man," Sora groaned while Serah attacked Riku again. "Your find kind of tops ours..." He reached behind him and grabbed what his group found: Sea-shell jewelry. There were two necklaces and a bracelet that they found near the mermaids. One necklace, he planned on giving to Kairi to make up for him not choosing her for his team.

Riku groaned as Serah put the headband back on. "If I wear it, so does she," he said, throwing a thumb in Lightning's direction. She didn't have her headband on. If he was going to suffer, so was she. He wasn't doing this alone.

Kairi looked at the seashell jewelry and blinked. "Oooh," she cooed in awe. The jewelry was beautiful! She wondered where they found it, since it was so delicately made.

"As if I could make her do that," Serah laughed. She could coerce Lightning into many things, but she doubted wearing a moogle headband would be one of them.

"This one's for you, Kairi," Sora said, passing over the bright blue one for her. It matched her eyes really well, so he thought that it was fitting for her. Besides, he had to make up for not asking her to be on his team when he had the chance.

Riku frowned, grumbling under his breath about the whole situation not being fair. If Serah couldn't do it, then he would. He was going to have the last laugh, especially with something as silly and humiliating as this. Lightning was going to wear that headband. To prove it, he turned and started toward her, picking up the headband she tossed to the side and putting it on her head. "There. Now we match."

Kairi's smile fell at the words, the necklace held out to her. "Me?" she repeated in question. She accepted the gift with delicate fingers, being sure to be careful with the jewelry. It was handcrafted and made with care. If she broke it, she would be ashamed.

"Yeah, not happening," Lightning said, reaching up and taking the headband off again. There was no way she was going to keep that thing on her head, whether it was rude or not. She never did care much for facades or subtleties, and Mog actually seemed to appreciate her boldness. She could tell by how he kept goggling at her.

"You guys totally topped us with sentimentality," Ven confessed. He picked up the jar in front of him, showing it off to whoever was still paying attention. "We found enough pixie dust to cover all of us for our next visit, but that was it." He was so bummed his group didn't have more findings!

Riku picked the headband back up and put it back on Lightning's head, his hands holding it there as he gazed at her. "Light, if I'm wearing it, you are too, or mine comes off," he reasoned. Besides, Lightning looked...cute with the pompom on her head, and the wings.

Namine smiled at the sight of the jar. "More flying, huh?" she asked, not sure how to take that. It was great to fly and all, but she was still afraid of the heights. Maybe it would take more practice, which was when the pixie dust would come in handy, she guessed. Unless Tinkerbell was available of course.

"Serah says otherwise," Lightning disagreed, looking at her sister. "You're wearing yours whether I am or not." She lifted her hands to take it off, though Riku's hands were large enough to cover any areas where she could get a good enough grip to take it off. She was stuck with this for a while, wasn't she?

"I already can't wait for next time," Roxas confessed. "We need to do another hunt, and this time, I won't be stuck with this slacker." He pointed to Sora, whose eyes widened in dismay.

"I said I was sorry," he groaned. "I didn't mean to get us lost!" Even if they could fly high above everything, it was hard to tell where things were if you didn't know the island well.

Riku kept his hands where they were. "Are you really going to make me suffer alone?" he asked lowly, ignoring the others for now. Lightning was his primary focus, as she usually was. Sometimes he just couldn't get enough of her.

"At least we didn't run into any pirates," Namine said, taking a seat beside Kairi. Mog was going around and tapping everybody's pompoms, amused with the act. At least he was enjoying his kidnapping, something that luckily didn't happen to any of them with pirates.

"Yeah," Lightning nodded without hesitation. She wasn't going to wear this pompom on her head, though she expected Riku would keep his on. All this silliness was distracting Serah, and Lightning too. She didn't want to admit it to Riku, but even if she was flying and not walking, some movements in the air still made her legs hurt throughout the day. Even now, she was in pain.

"Don't say that until we're back at the castle," Ven recommended. "We don't want to jinx it." But he seriously doubted they'd run into pirates now; they'd been around all day and didn't see them, so why would they now?

Riku sighed and dropped his hands. He couldn't actually keep his hands on Lightning's head all the time, so he might as well just let this go. He rose to his feet and turned, placing his hands on his hips just as Mog approached.

"Kupo!" Mog cheered, bopping the pompom on Riku's head. The Keyblade Master only rolled his eyes, but there was a smile, which had Mog doing the same. Everyone liked his gifts!

Lightning let the headband remain on her head, but for the sole reason that a distraction came before she could take it off. When Mog appeared to either bop her pompom or give her a hug, Lightning lifted her hand and instinctively flicked the creature away, sending him quite high in the sky. He was a lot lighter than she thought he would be.

Kairi had been examining the necklace Sora gave her, but that was when she heard Mog let out a loud "kupo!" and she looked up. The poor guy went flying into the air, flipping to try and right himself. "Lightning!" she cried, scolding but also finding the situation humorous. Why did she do that to Mog? Meanwhile, Riku was chuckling beside Lightning, obviously entertained.

"Whoops," Lightning said with a slight shrug. What just happened was slightly accidental; she hadn't meant to flick him away that far. He didn't seem terribly hurt--In fact, he came flying right back in at her. She lifted a hand and pressed it against his head, easily keeping him away from her while he exclaimed "kupos" of frustration.

Namine giggled beside Kairi, watching as Mog flailed his arms in protest. He clearly wanted Lightning's approval before, but now he was just angry. Namine found it quite adorable. It was a shame that they would have to leave Mog once they went back to the castle.

Serah giggled along with everyone else, though she was distracted when she suddenly realized how dark the sky was. Night had fallen, and if there really were pirates on this island... "We should head back," she voiced quietly. Whether she liked it or not, their day of fun was coming to an end.

Riku glanced at Serah and then followed her gaze to the sky. The stars were out already. "Yeah," he said with a nod, his pompom bobbing because of the movement. Unfortunately, their time here was done, which meant Lightning would have to get back in her chair... Riku's eyebrows furrowed at the thought, the young man taking his headband off his head and reaching behind him to grab the wings. It was time they took off.

Everyone agreed that it was time to take off, though all of them were sad by it. At least they could come back another day in the future and use the pixie dust Ven's group found to fly again. It would be the only way Lightning would be able to move freely again. As everyone else started back to the ship they rode to get there, Lightning lingered, sitting on the ground as she looked up at the sky. I don't want to leave.

Riku watched as the others headed back, but he noticed one person wasn't moving; she couldn't, really. He turned to her, his moogle accessories still in his grasp as he stood beside her. "Ready to go?" he asked lowly. As fun as this world was, they had to get back to reality.

Lightning lowered her head, gazing at her lap. That was a silly question, at least from her perspective. "...No," she responded quietly. Of course she wasn't ready to go. She got a taste of freedom today by flying around without having to use her legs. And now she had to go back to the castle to be in that wheelchair...It was almost more cruel now that she experienced freedom again.

Riku wasn't sure how to respond. He and Lightning needed to return to the castle sometime, but...maybe not tonight. "...Would you like to stay?" he asked. He had his glider, so they could fly back at any time. If she really wanted to stay here for a little while longer, Riku would let her.

Lightning nodded slightly, the pompom on her head bobbing with the motion. "Forever," she said quietly. "...But I know that's not possible, so..." Whether she was ready to leave or not, it was time to go. She experienced freedom for a day; it was better than nothing, maybe. Going back to the chair was going to break her heart though.

Riku smiled slightly in sadness, but he let his eyes find the world instead of Lightning. He wouldn't make her feel uncomfortable with the truth behind her words. "...We can stay tonight, if you want," he offered. It wouldn't be that bad, since Riku spent nights in caves before. He could handle it, but he really worried about Lightning. He figured she would be fine, but it was ultimately her decision.
