Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"If I win, you have to go on a date with me," the soldier said with a bright smile. "And if you win, I have to go on a date with you." It was a win-win for him, since he wanted to get to know this girl since the first time he laid eyes on her. Today wasn't the first day that he met her; in fact, he met her when he was just a wanna-be hero.

Aqua blinked at the suggestion, letting down her guard. A date? Memories suddenly flooded her mind, a gasp leaving her. "Hey, how about one date?" Words spoken by a boy who did ridiculous squats while he talked. A teen who wanted hero-hood and was encouraged by her somewhat accepting his offer. Was this...was this the same guy?

"I wouldn't let down my guard if I was you," Zack warned then, jumping back and holding his sword in front of him with both hands. He could have taken advantage of Aqua in that moment, but he wanted to win this fight fair and square. "What do you say?" Was she up for his wager?

Aqua gathered herself and took on her stance again, smirking. "I can't make any promises," she said, hoping to jog this guy's memory as well. It was the same thing she said all those years ago. This was Zack. It had to be. The same stance, the same voice and eyes... Aqua couldn't mistake the first guy to ask her out for anyone.

"At least it's not a 'no'," the soldier said. He lifted one of his hands away from his sword, placing it on his helmet. He remembered those words from long ago, which meant that Aqua had to remember him as well. And just to be straight with her, he took off the helmet and tossed it aside. "How about now?" Zack asked with a brighter smile. "Now I'm not some creep with a helmet asking you on a date."

Aqua's smirk softened when she saw Zack's face. He had grown up since the last time she saw him, that much was for sure. His features were more defined, body more sculpted... He was handsome. "We'll see," she hinted with the same smile. She then called to a strong Thunder spell, initiated the battle once more.

Ventus leaned forward on his seat, eyes wide at the unmasked contestant. "That's Zack!" he gasped mostly to himself. He remembered Zack and how they met at this very coliseum before. They fought off Unversed together and while Zack wasn't the best fighter, he had potential. Apparently he improved his skills over the past few years, dodging Aqua's spell and charging at her with his sword.

"Who?" Namine asked over a cheer from the crowd. Who was Zack? She'd never heard of him before, and by the look on Riku's face, neither had he. Zack must have been someone from Aqua and Ven's pasts. Aqua seemed to know him, since they bantered moments ago.

Ven never answered Namine's question, too into the match. It was an intense one to be sure. As it went on longer, it seemed like the two of them were able to predict the other's moves, as if they had done battle before. Ven watched it all with wide, excited eyes, cheering for both sides until the point where Zack made his final move: When Aqua cast a magic spell and Zack was in close range, he dodged the spell, kicked her feet out from underneath her and put the edge of his sword by her neck to end the match.

Aqua grunted, eyes widening when she saw the sword near her throat, and she knew the match was over. She summoned her Keyblade away as all fell silent, before the crowd roared to life. Zack won, Aqua lost. But...she wasn't that disappointed. Not anymore.

Zack smiled warmly, that being his only response to the crowd. As Phil announced his victory, Zack took away his sword and held out a hand to Aqua. "Nice match," he said, prepared to help her up. It was only right, since he was the one who knocked her down in the first place.

Aqua visibly relaxed and accepted the hand offered to her, rising with Zack's help. "You too," she said in reply. He was much stronger than before, that much Aqua couldn't deny. She was still slightly stunned by his good looks, but she snapped out of it when confetti began to fall over the arena.

Zack held up a hand in victory, but it was the hand that grasped Aqua's. He motioned to her with his free hand, telling the audience that they should cheer for her as well. As proud as he was of his victory, Aqua fought well and hard and therefore deserved some praise. "So, how about that date?" he asked again.

Aqua blushed slightly when Zack motioned for the crowd to cheer for her, and she glanced over at her friends to see them doing just that. But at Zack's question, her blush increased. "Sure," she said with a faint nod, meeting his eyes. It was a date long overdue, and he did say if he won that she would have to go on a date with him, not that Aqua was complaining.

Zack looked over at Aqua, blinking in surprise, She gave him a direct "yes" this time?!" He released her hand and jumped into the air, pumping a fist in excitement. "All right!" he cheered. Finally, she said yes to that date. Was it because he won and got stronger, or did she have time to regret the last time she told him to wait?

Aqua blushed slightly and lifted a hand to her lips as she giggled at Zack's antics. He hadn't changed too much. He matured physically, but he still had the same personality. Aqua was glad that he wasn't completely different. She was embarrassed in the past, but she would have taken that date if she hadn't been so busy.

Lightning looked up at the sky, blinking when she felt a raindrop fall on her nose. Nobody realized it because they were distracted by the tense match, but the sky was extremely dark. Suddenly another drop fell on her face, and then another, then another. And then the floodgates of the heavens opened and it began pouring. While some people squealed in surprise, Lightning lowered her gaze to the arena, barely hearing Phil call that the final match would be put on hold because of the rain.

Riku squinted up at the sky as rain began to pour, his eyes then finding his friends as they left their seats. He wordlessly wrapped his arm around Lightning's back and led her under the nearest roof in the coliseum. Their friends were gathered there, as well as Aqua and Zack. Once it died down a little, they would leave the crowd.

Lightning wrapped an arm around Riku's lower back as they walked, noticing many others were heading for that same awning. That was going to get crowded very quickly. Nevertheless, now wasn't the time to worry about it. As they stood at the edge of the group, Lightning heard Ven and Zack share enthusiastic greetings, the former offering a congratulations as well.

They didn't have to wait under the awning long. The rain eased up after about ten minutes, to a sprinkle that Riku was sure Lightning could deal with. At that point, he found himself wanting alone time with her, because they hadn't gotten much of it lately. He hadn't seen much of this world, especially the city, so he wanted to go take a look. "Wanna get out of here?" Riku asked, voice low in the murmur of the crowd around them. They would meet up with their friends later.

Lightning looked over at Riku, nodding slightly to his proposal. "Sure," she responded. She'd be glad to get away from this big crowd; some people were not happy with being wet at all and refused to go out in the lighter rain. As if it mattered--most everyone was soaked anyway, so this rain wouldn't make a difference.

Riku smiled faintly and looked to his friends, who were busy in conversation. They wouldn't even see him and Lightning leave. He kept his arm around her back and led her away from the crowd and toward the city. Thebes was the name of the city, and it seemed that the light drizzle of rain didn't bother its citizens much. Riku's eyes darted around as he looked at the buildings and shops. The market was quite close to the coliseum.

Lightning leaned into Riku, as she had been for the past day or two. She wished that she could walk on her own and not burden him so much, but that was a worry for another day. She looked around the city, finding it radiant despite the dark clouds and drizzle. She stopped suddenly when a short man in a black coat rounded the corner, the sketchy man immediately having her attention.

"Hey," he said lowly. "You wanna buy..." He flashed his black cloak open, revealing his merchandise underneath quite suddenly. "Some sundials?"

Riku had stepped back and shielded his eyes when the man threw his cloak open, but when he saw that it was only sundials, he relaxed. That could have been ugly, he thought. "Uh, we'll pass. Thanks," Riku said, leading Lightning away from the man. The stranger looked a little loony, and Riku didn't want Lightning anywhere near him.

Lightning looked back at the man as they walked, though she soon turned her attention back to Riku. "So you had the ability to shield your own eyes but not mine?" she asked in mock hurt. In reality, when the man opened up his jacket, she quickly shut her eyes so that she wouldn't see anything. What kind of a merchant thought that being shady was good for business anyway?
