As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

 

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

 

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

 

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku smiled a little and pecked Lightning on the lips again, but once he retreated, he released her completely. He rose to his feet and approached his door, shutting it quietly. His missing Lightning got in the way of sleep tonight, but not anymore. She was staying with him...and if she allowed him to, he would hold her tonight.

The next morning, everyone was solemn. Even Sora and Kairi who desperately wanted to return home were sober. They all took a gummi ship together: Sora and Kairi, Riku, Lightning, Serah, Riku's parents, and Roxas and Namine. As soon as Sora landed the ship on the beach of the main island, he saw trouble. Officers had seen the ship approaching and appeared, surely to arrest Riku and Lightning. As Sora shut the ship down, he turned to look at his best friend. Now what? 

Riku looked out the ship at the officers with their guns. They were expecting this... They were waiting for Riku and Lightning to return, so they could arrest them. He felt Sora's gaze on him, as well as a few others', and met it. All Riku did was nod, hands tightening into fists. He had to do this, and so did Lightning. Riku had the evidence to prove Lightning's innocence. As for Riku's assault...not so much.

Lightning looked at Serah, who was obviously scared. She silently set a hand on her shoulder and directed her to Sora and Kairi. She was to stay with them while she and Riku sorted this out. Sora was Noel's brother, so Serah could trust him to take care of her. After that message was conveyed, Lightning turned to look at Riku. They had to leave the ship now.

Riku's eyes met Lightning's, and he nodded to her. She was ready for this, or so he hoped. They didn't have much of a choice but to exit the ship. Riku exhaled a breath and approached the door, hitting a button with his fist to lower the ramp to the sand. As soon as it hit the ground he heard the guns raise, just in case he tried anything. As far as the Islanders knew, Lightning didn't have a Keyblade. It was best to keep it that way. Riku steeled himself and started out of the ship, going first for a reason. If they wanted Lightning they would have to get through him.

Lightning fought the urge to set a hand on Riku's back, knowing it was inappropriate for a few reasons. One was that she wanted to hide behind him, but she knew she couldn't do that. Another reason was that she saw paparazzi down there; this whole thing with the police was going to be enough of a story without Lightning showing affection towards Riku. She remained one step behind him, glancing at him and then the line of officers that had their guns locked on both of them.

"Hands where I can see them!"

 

Riku slowed his steps on the sand, grinding his teeth at the order. He should have expected this much. Lightning was a "murderer" and Riku was her "accomplice." There was bound to be trouble. He slowly lifted his hands, stopping a few feet away from the ramp to the ship. "Easy," he tried. "This doesn't have to get messy." Riku and Lightning already discussed this. They would go willingly...unless they hurt Lightning. Then Riku would throw a fit.

"Out where I can see you!" another officer ordered Lightning. She was the one that they primarily wanted; she murdered her father. Riku was only guilty in helping her avoid arrest. The crimes were on very different levels. When she stepped forward, the officer's eyebrows furrowed. "Away from him." They didn't want any funny business. 

Riku turned his head, hard eyes on Lightning. He wordlessly nodded to her. Do as he says, he silently encouraged. There were cameras. This had to be as easy as possible, no trouble involved. They would already be all over the headlines. It didn't have to get worse. Besides, if Lightning did this, the officers wouldn't hurt her. As for Riku, he wasn't sure; he attacked some of the officers previously. They would be rougher with him.

While Lightning moved away, the officer in charge spoke. "The two of you are under arrest," he said critically. "Lightning Farron for the crimes of third degree murder and resisting arrest. Riku Cole, aiding in the escape of a wanted criminal." He motioned his men forward, several of them going for Lightning and several for Riku. They were going to be locked away now, though Riku's wouldn't last long.

Riku grunted in disgust at Lightning's reasoning, disagreeing completely. They didn't know the truth at all. She was innocent, something they would realize once they discovered what was in Riku's pocket.

 

Kairi watched from the doorway, eyes wide in concern. "Riku?" she called in worry. What were they going to do to him?

 

Riku grunted at the tightness of the handcuffs, the cops being rough with him. The one that had a hold of his shoulder was one he attacked at his apartment. "It's alright!" he called over his shoulder, then grunting when he was shoved forward. He and Lightning would be fine. Thinking of her now, Riku turned his head, seeing the officers putting cuffs on her as well. Stay strong. This won't last long, I promise.

Lightning and Riku's treatment wasn't gentle, despite the presence of photographers at the scene of the arrest. They were shoved into the back of the same police car and whisked away to jail. Even when they got there, the officers didn't wait for Lightning to climb out on her own; they grabbed her by the arm and practically dragged her in, even if she came willingly. There were several cells once they were indoors, and each of them had at least five people in them. As Lightning's officer opened one for her, he pulled her back before he threw her in harshly enough for her to land hard on the cold, hard floor. At least he had been kind enough to remove her cuffs right before throwing her in the cell. 

"Hey!" Riku cried in outrage, seeing Lightning's treatment. However, he didn't get a chance to say much else, being shoved into his as well. He stumbled but gained his footing quickly enough to glare at the officers. His aquamarine eyes pierced their backs as they walked off, leaving him and Lightning in cells that were side-by-side...and full of other occupants.

Lightning stood up, briefly glancing in Riku's direction. I'm alright, she nearly told him. But feeling the glares of others in the cell made her feel less certain of that declaration. She didn't know what they were in for, but if looks could kill, she'd be dead five times over. 

Riku suffered the same feeling as Lightning, the sensation of eyes against his back making him turn to glare at the other occupants of his cell. "What?" he hissed, only to see them look away. A Keyblade wielder had never been thrown in jail before, he was sure, but at least they didn't mess with him. If they did, they would have been in for a world of hurt. Maybe that was why they didn't.

Lightning felt relieved when Riku's cellmates stopped staring at him, though she didn't have the same luck. One of her cellmates rose up from her seat on the bench and approached her, stopping and staring at her from an elevated height with less than a foot between them. She reeked of alcohol, but that didn't make her less intimidating. If anything, it made her more intimidating. 

Riku heard the footsteps in the cell next to him, which instantly triggered an alarm in his head. He turned, eyes falling on Lightning and the woman who stood within close proximity. He didn't say anything, simply glaring. Lightning.... She had training to handle situations like this, but would it really come down to fighting? What did the woman have against her?

Lightning stared back up at the woman, glaring with the intensity she used when facing down bullies in school. What are you going to do? she silently challenged. If she wanted a fight, Lightning would humor her. This alcoholic woman was intimidating with all her piercings and the muscles that showed with her tank-top, but Lightning faced worse. 

Riku tensed the longer the staring match continued, eyes darting from Lightning to the strange woman. Who was going to strike first? If Lightning was smart, she would avoid a fight. That wouldn't go over well in court, which was exactly where her case was going. She had to be smart here. If there was going to be a fight, she had to react out of self defense, nothing more.

After a few more tense seconds, the other woman scoffed and backed away, returning to her seat. Apparently Lightning wasn't worth her trouble. When that woman walked away, the rest of Lightning's cellmates stopped staring as well. The leader thought she wasn't worth a hassle, so nobody else would pick a fight with her. Thank goodness. 

"Ah, Farron... In here for murder? And I thought my family was bad."

 

Riku turned at the voice, which instantly got his blood boiling. His eyes hardened greatly at the sight before him. Zane, he thought with fury. The guy finally ended up in jail. Unfortunately, he was in Riku's cell. If he kept running his mouth, it wouldn't end well for him.

Lightning furrowed her eyebrows and faced the cell beside hers, seeing the figure of the young man who sat in the corner. He looked...awful. He had scratches on his face and bags under his eyes. "Zane," she said automatically, surprised enough to disregard his comments. What was he in for, and why did he look so terrible? 

Riku didn't let his guard down. "What's wrong with you? Other than the obvious," he said tightly, noticing the imperfection on Zane's face. He was obviously in here for breaking the law, and probably something worse.

 

Zane smirked, his lips splitting with the movement. "The lack of concern from the Keyblader. Didn't expect anything less," he said, rising to his feet. He glanced from Riku to Lightning. "Since you're so curious, I'm here for dishing out the drugs and some...trouble with the ladies." 

 

Riku grunted when Zane sent a wink Lightning's way, and he instantly stepped forward, grabbing him by the collar of his torn shirt. "Watch it," he hissed. One more slip like that and he would be in for a world of hurt.

"Riku!" Lightning called in warning. Yeah, she was disgusted by Zane's words and the wink too, but she wasn't going to let Riku strangle him. It definitely wouldn't help them get out of these jail cells any sooner. She walked forward to the bars that separated their cells, wrapping her hand around it. Get away from Zane, Riku. Don't do this.

"Oooh," Zane said in mock fear. "What're you gonna do, Riku? You're already in the slammer. You've got nothing to lose."

 

Riku was more than tempted to throw Zane's head against the nearest wall. But he had to think with a clear head. He was already in trouble; he didn't need worse.

 

"Nothing, huh?" Zane smirked. "Coward, as always. No guts, for someone who can fight for the worlds. No wonder you disappeared. You were too scared."

 

"You have no idea what I've been dealing with," Riku hissed tightly. "You wouldn't survive against the kinds of monsters I face."
