Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku looked at Lightning, forgetting for a moment that they weren't alone. "I'm sorry," he finally said, his hands in fists by his sides. He was an idiot. He shouldn't have let Zane get to him so easily. He should have been the bigger person and let it go...but Zane had insulted Lightning, called her a killer...

Zane rose to his feet while the couple was having their little moment, but that was when he grabbed Lightning by the back of her head, holding a fistful of her hair and yanking her back to rest against his chest while he leaned against the bars. She was in his grasp now. What was Riku going to do?

Lightning sharply cried out at the yank, her eyes automatically squeezing shut as Zane pulled her back. The shock of the pain made her completely lose her grip on Riku's shirt, and it made her lose her footing as well. Unfortunate for her, that meant that she found her foundation again by leaning back into the very person who caused this mess in the first place.

Riku's eyes widened with alarm, but he couldn't move. If he did, Zane would do something to hurt Lightning. And Riku couldn't exactly attack Zane for his newest move without hurting Lightning either. What was he hoping to accomplish? He was in a cell!

Zane kept his grip on Lightning's hair, another arm wrapping around her chest to keep her close. "Now what, Keyblader? Gonna punch me with your precious girlfriend in the way?" he taunted. He then turned his head toward the girl against him, particularly fond of this position. He sniffed her hair, then smiling. "Mm, you smell good."

Lightning opened her eyes, glaring even if she couldn't see Zane. Oh he was going to regret this... She lifted both her arms, setting one hand on the arm that was across her chest and the other that was gripping the back of her head. She wasn't sure what good that was going to do, but she was determined not to use magic against him or summon her Keyblade.

Zane only let his face rest against the side of Lightning's, taking in her scent again. His blood on his face got on her, but that was just proof of him leaving his mark. "Holding onto me, Lightning? You're only encouraging me," he told her, smiling darkly. Riku in the meantime seemed to be fighting with himself. Move or don't move? Zane could only smirk.

Lightning grunted in disgust, briefly squeezing her eyes shut. You pig... She was determined to get out of this without magic, just because she feared she'd be punished worse of she did use it. But she already did in entering another cell, so that squashed that argument. Just a little fire magic. He won't know what hit him. She tightened her grasp on the arm that was over her chest, summoning the heat to her hand. It wouldn't burn her, but it'd definitely burn him.

Zane felt sudden heat against his arm, but it got much worse in temperature. He cried out in pain, pushing Lightning away from him before looking to his arm. "You witch!" he bellowed, eyes finding her. She would pay for that.

Riku stepped forward and grasped Lightning's arm when Zane released her, ushering her behind him slightly while still keeping a hold of her. His eyes remained on Zane as he cursed at the pain in his arm. Riku would have smirked in triumph and pride if he wasn't so furious.

Lightning stumbled a step behind Riku, regaining her balance more quickly since he didn't yank her nearly as harshly as Zane did a minute ago. Even so, she automatically lifted a hand and set it on Riku's arm for balance as she looked at the cursing bully. He got what he deserved.

Riku felt Lightning's touch and took that in as he fought the urge to slug Zane again. But even as the thought crossed through his mind, the doors to the cell room opened and officers barged in. He tensed instantly. What were they going to do? Were they going to take him from Lightning? He couldn't leave her alone with Zane in the next cell over!

Crap, Lightning thought instantly. So the guards finally paid attention to the security cameras and saw trouble. She took her hand away from Riku's arm, though she noticed that he still had a hold on hers. Both of them were guilty right now, so she had no doubt they'd both be punished.

Riku saw the batons and the guns at the ready as the officers charged in, and his hold on Lightning's arm tightened in apprehension. This was bad... Orders of stepping away from one another and getting their hands up were shouted, and Riku silently did as he was told. Zane, of course, didn't listen, and once the gate opened, was forced to the ground by officers. Riku was tackled to the ground as well, his head hitting the pavement hard. "Hey!" he cried in outrage. The force was unnecessary!

Lightning grunted roughly when she too was tackled by an officer, who promptly gripped her wrists and warned her not to do anything funny. "Don't try to burn me, witch," the officer growled. As if my actions before were uncalled for, she thought in anger.

"You three are going into solitary confinement."

Riku's eyes widened as he was forced to his feet. Solitary confinement?! He guessed that was what he got for defending Lightning, but...he didn't want to be away from her. Would she be alright? Would she be safe? He didn't get the chance to ask, being forced out of the cell after Zane. As long as Lightning was away from that creep, Riku would feel slightly better. But because of his stupidity, he wouldn't be able to see her for a while.

Lightning looked ahead at Riku, the officer holding her having a hand on the back of her head. She didn't know what was going to happen now; after all, this was her first time in jail. But Riku was going to solitary confinement because of her. Even if it was his actions, he was in jail in the first place because of her. She'd feel responsible no matter what he said.

Namine approached her apartment door, happy to be home but also stressed. Riku and Lightning were just hauled off to jail, and any form of government seemed to hate her friends for some reason. Despite her worries, Namine was just glad to be at her doorstep with Roxas at her side. He offered to walk her home and check on Faye, who she left when they went to Disney Castle. Namine made sure to leave her plenty of food and water since she didn't know how long they would be gone and planned on picking up any messes she made, but as she opened the door, there was nothing but silence.

Roxas blinked, surprised at the silence of Namine's apartment. Faye should have been running out to greet them since she was such a sociable pup. He looked around, though he then noticed a bright slip of paper on the endtable closest to the door. No way... he thought, eyebrows furrowing as he stepped in and approached it. He hoped that wasn't what he thought it was.

"Faye?" Namine called, stepping past Roxas and further into her home as she looked for the small dog. There was nothing but silence, and her apartment was still slightly damaged from Seifer. Just the sight had Namine tensing, memories from that night flooding her mind. What was going on? Where was Faye?

Crap, Roxas thought after skimming the sheet. This was...an eviction notice. They heard Faye barking and because of Namine not complying to the "no-pets" rule, they were evicting her. The only good thing here was that Faye was taken care of and returned to the pet store. But...how was he going to tell Namine this?

  • Author

Namine didn't understand what was happening. Where was Faye? Did somebody come and take her? But...why would they do that? She turned, then noticing Roxas's expression. "Roxas?" she called softly. What was that look for...and what was that slip he was holding?

Crap, Roxas thought again. He didn't have time to think about how to break the news to Namine. She had to get all of her stuff out within a week of returning to the Islands, and the mess with Seifer had to be cleaned up as well. Walls needed to be patched, blood stains removed...He definitely didn't want her worrying about any of that though; he wanted to keep her away from anything that could remind her of Seifer.

Namine's eyebrows furrowed as she took a small step forward. "Roxas," she called again. "What is that?" And what wasn't he telling her? He looked awfully upset about something, but he wasn't saying anything. Please, tell me what's going on....

Roxas lifted a hand, pinching the bride of his nose. "...It's a note from the landlord," he said, being honest. "They heard Faye barking and took her to the petstore." And that was only one of their problems. Namine was being evicted...Where would she live?

  • Author

"What?" Namine gasped, eyes widening. How long ago did that happen? And...somebody heard Faye. Somebody knew that she had a pet here, which was against the rules. She was in trouble, wasn't she? Roxas's face did little to settle any of her worries.

Roxas looked over at Namine. She was smart enough to know that the landlord finding out about Faye was a big problem. "...It's a letter of eviction, Nam," he said quietly, swallowing hard before he said it. He hated to break the news to her, but it was his only option.

Namine's eyes fell to the piece of paper in Roxas's grasp, heart skipping a beat in dread. "No," she said in denial, shaking her head slightly. Her eyes instantly began to well with tears. No, she couldn't be evicted! She had nowhere else to go! What was she supposed to do with her stuff? And Faye was taken from her. This was a disaster!
