Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku shook his head again. "Not so much, hubby," he teased, his smirk appearing once more. One, he barely knew Lightning. Two, she had an attitude that got on his nerves, most of the time. And three, he wasn't really looking for a relationship. He had other things to worry about.
"Haha," Sora laughed, rolling his eyes. He drank more water, then stood up and held onto the empty cup. "This hubby better get to the finish line. Kai's probably waiting." He just wanted to stop in and see what was up with Riku anyway, since it wasn't like him to drop out of a race at the very end of it. But if he was hurt, it made sense.

"I'll tag along," Riku said, uncrossing his arms and rising to his feet. He was sure the others were waiting too, and wondering what was going on. The race ended a few minutes ago, and everybody had finished except for the three of them. At the thought, Riku looked to Lightning. "You coming?"
Lightning glanced up, nodding faintly. "Yeah." She rose to her feet, in silence, glancing over to see Sora arching a brow suggestively at Riku because he asked if she was tagging along. He had just been asking out of politeness; it really wasn't a big deal and it definitely wasn't flirting. As if Riku (or any guy) would be interested in a girl like her.

Riku nodded and then started for the finish line, though it was practically empty now. He flicked Sora in the nose as he walked by. That's for the Lightning joke, he thought, smirking at his friend as he continued forward. Sora knew better than anyone that he didn't fall for girls; girls fell for him. Besides, he wasn't interested in anyone. The one person he had liked was Kairi, and that had never worked out.

"Ouch!" Sora whined, lifting a hand to his nose when Riku walked by and flicked him. That was unnecessary. His eyes landed on Lightning as she walked by as well, though she didn't let him off the hook either. She flicked him in the forehead and then passed him, a slight smirk appearing at Sora's surprised reaction. Yeah, I might have deserved those.

Namine had her camera around her neck, looking at Kairi as she gazed down the road, obviously confused as to why Sora and Riku hadn't crossed yet. "Do you think something happened?" she asked softly. That could be the only explanation, couldn't it?

"That has to be it," Kairi said in return. She then blinked, seeing three figures leaving a medical stand. "Namine, zoom in with your camera." Could that be Sora and Riku?

Namine did as directed, and she blinked upon seeing two familiar faces. "That's them," she confirmed. They looked exhausted, which was predictable. She then lowered her camera, confused. What took them so long?

"You guys want me to go ask them what's up?" Roxas asked, standing beside Kairi and staring in that direction as well. It was strange that Sora and Riku wouldn't be racing to reach the ending; it looked like they were just walking casually. Hard to believe they weren't competing anymore just because the race was over.

Serah was also standing close to the finish line, watching out for her sister and overhearing the conversation. Sora and Riku. They were those two boys that she met at Noel's house. Squinting her eyes, she could pick them out, but she also thought she saw Lightning with them. Was everything okay?

Kairi nodded. "Sure," she said softly. "Thanks, Roxas." She definitely wanted to know what was going on, and if everything was okay. Something had to have happened during the race to slow them down, or disqualify them, which was what it looked like from where she stood.
Roxas nodded slightly, and since he had enough room, he put a hand on the fence before him and then swung his legs to the side, jumping over it and landing on the other side. Then he started walking towards his two friends, realizing nobody cared that he was on the course now. The race truly was over.

Riku had his eyes on the ground, walking in silence for the time being. When he looked up, he noticed that they weren't the only ones on the course anymore. His eyebrows furrowed slightly when he saw Roxas coming toward them, though he didn't really question it. Clearly Roxas wanted to know what the hold up was.
Roxas met up with his friends, glancing at Lightning when she just walked past him. He had no clue who she was, so he didn't think deeply about her at that moment. Instead, he looked to Sora and Riku. "Everything alright?" he asked the two. Why hadn't they finished the race?

Riku nodded. "All good," he said lowly. "We just got a little held up in the middle of the race." Some punks decided to trip him and Lightning up, but there was nothing they could do about it now. It was already done, but he was sure karma would give the rebels a taste of their own medicine.

"Well, you and Lightning did," Sora corrected. "I just happened to find you guys in the medical tent." He looked back at Roxas and shrugged. "Figured I probably wouldn't be a good friend if I just left him there."

Roxas nodded faintly in understanding. "We should head up," he said as he glanced to the finish line. "Kairi and Namine were wondering what's up too." That was why he came down, really. He could have waited until they came up, but he bet Kairi was worried for her husband.

Riku smirked, starting to walk. "Those two worry too much," he admitted lowly. Then again, they were part of each other, so it made sense. Regardless, he continued walking, his eyes finding Lightning with her sister, who he realized must have also been concerned about the hold up. Looked like nobody else cared, since everyone moved on.

Still within earshot of the other girls who were concerned for their friends, Serah shared that concern but directed it at her sister. "You okay? What happened?" She had expected Lightning to come out on top, but she didn't even finish the race in time. Something must have happened.

"Somebody thought it would be funny to pull a rope across the track and trip me up," Lightning said lowly. Upon seeing Serah's wide eyes, she shook her head faintly. "Everything's fine now." Except that the punks got away.

Kairi heard what the pink-haired girl had to say, and she turned her head. "Wait...was Riku with you?" she asked. Somebody tripped her on the course? What if Riku was a part of that too? Or Sora? First of all, who would do such a thing? And two, why didn't anyone complain about it?
Lightning glanced over at the redhead, not knowing who she was. But she could answer the question, so she did. "Yeah," she confirmed with a nod. "He got tripped up too. He's fine." They both got potions at the medical stand. She did feel as if she should thank him, though, for helping her walk there. He hadn't needed to do that.

Kairi nodded slightly, but then she returned her attention to her friends and husband, who were closer than before. She started forward, her eyes trained on her husband, who looked like he needed to rest. What took him so long?
Sora's bright blue eyes landed on Kairi once they were closer, and he could tell that she was confused and concerned. "Everything's fine," he said immediately to her. "I stopped in to check on Riku at the med station." He would have finished the race along with everyone else if he hadn't done that.

Kairi's eyes left her husband to find Riku, who stopped in front of her. "That girl over there said someone tripped you guys," she explained. "You okay?" She had never heard of someone messing around with the traithlon before, so this was a first.

Riku nodded. "No big deal," he said. He would be fine, though he was a little ticked. He wanted to finish the race, for more reasons than one.

"Well, I guess it's all done and over with now," Sora said with a shrug. "May as well go home and pig out on junk food or something." Even if he didn't do so hot in this race, it wasn't going to convince him to work out more often like Riku insisted he did. The threats were gone; he was going to live a normal life now. And normal people weren't obsessed with working out all the time.

Namine snapped a picture, capturing a few of her friends' attention. "Keepsake," she said softly, shrugging a little. "Besides, I'll make sure to give this to Sora so he remembers how he looked before the junk food took its toll on him." She smiled slightly, earning a giggle or two from Kairi.
"Aw, c'mon Namine, why are you picking on me?" Sora whined. "Normally you're on my side..." Besides, he wasn't ready to admit that he had to lay off Kairi's cookies. He was still in good shape compared to really lazy people; he did just participate in a triathlon. He wasn't what he was when he was off fighting wars, but that was the point. He wasn't a warrior anymore; he was just Sora. Nobody more and nobody less.

"Well now she's on the more realistic side," Riku admitted, jabbing Sora gently with his elbow. He then looked to Namine, whose cheeks were now a faint pink as he winked at her. She looked away, but his smirk still remained. "C'mon, let's go home." He was ready to relax.
