Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku nodded a little as well. "Come by tomorrow," he said, rising to his feet. "Light and I need the day to rest." Both of them were sick, and Riku was pretty sure he got worse by having Lightning lay on him earlier. It didn't matter, though, since he probably had a stronger immune system than she did. No, he knew he did. Crossing worlds wasn't easy, so he built stronger immunity. But it wasn't enough, he guessed.
"Alright," Sora agreed. "See ya tomorrow." He offered his friend a weak smile, which translated to both "feel better" and "sorry for busting in here and scolding you for something you weren't even doing." He lifted a hand and waved his farewell as he headed to the door, getting ready to face the freezing cold again.

Riku nodded slightly to Sora, trusting his friend to lock the door on his way out. He instead picked up the medicine and mug of tea again, then starting back toward the guest bedroom where Lightning was. He knew the medicine would help, but he hoped the tea would comfort her a little more too.
Lightning was still awake, though it was easy for her to lay underneath the covers and act like she was asleep. It was easier than moving around, or straining to hear the conversation that was taking place rooms away. As if she even stood a chance to hear that. She thought that she heard the door open after a few moments, though she wasn't sure enough to roll over and look. Besides, she was pretending to be asleep. Rolling over and looking would have been stupid.

Riku walked into the guest bedroom, silently putting the mug of tea on the bedside table before taking a seat beside Lightning on the mattress. The medicine bottle in one hand, he leaned over to look at Lightning, placing his free hand on her shoulder. "...Light," he called gently, shaking her slightly. She needed to take some medicine.
Light knew she wasn't just hearing things now, not that she ever was. The sickness wasn't making her that loopy. The girl hummed softly to Riku, rolling over onto her back as she looked at him. He looked okay in an emotional sense now, not angry like he obviously had been with Sora. The fact that he was mad enough to push Sora against the wall was astounding, as was the fact that Sora was extremely protective of her. .

Riku held up the bottle of medicine, smiling weakly. He was sure that Lightning could tell what it was even in her drowsy state. If she didn't take this, not only would he be aggravated, but he'd know how miserable she would get. She was in bad shape right now, even if it was just a cold.
Light slowly sat herself up, leaning back against the headboard as she held out a hand for the bottle. She hated medicine, but who actually liked it? It was a pain in the butt, and she hated admitting that she needed it. Nevertheless, she knew that it would help her. This cold was a nasty one.

Riku handed the bottle of medicine over, and once Lightning had it, he reached for the mug of tea. It was still warm, which was good. Besides, it would help wash the taste of the medicine down. He held it near her, so she could take it when she was ready.
Light got out the pills she needed and then accepted the tea, not making a fuss as she took the two pills and washed them down with the warm tea. Funny, she recognized this flavor. "This is the same tea I gave you at my apartment a while back," she said quietly. Serah's "calming tea". Riku picked some of it up on his own?

Riku shrugged. "Surprise?" he said quietly, smiling crookedly. He managed to get a bit of it not too long ago, and lucky for him, Lightning was around when it was actually needed. He gazed at her in silence, hoping she didn't hate him for getting the recipe.
Lightning rolled her eyes, lightly nudging Riku with her elbow because of that crooked smile. "Nope," she said calmly, lowering the mug to her lap as she held it with both hands. "After all, a person like you needs calming tea." It was a joke, implying that Riku got mad a lot. Lately, that had been the truth.

Riku's crooked smile remained, the young man lifting a hand and lightly poking Lightning in the side. "I resent that," he replied lowly. Even if he wasn't feeling well...he knew he was flirting. The crooked smile, the small touching, the joking... If Lightning didn't notice it, she was blind. Riku was a big flirt; it should have been obvious. But the way he flirted with Lightning was different than how he did it with anyone else. Another way she was special.

Light's lips turned up in a smirk as she looked over at Riku, seeing his expression matching hers. Sick, but amused. "Need tea to calm you down?" she joked. Since he was so resentful, he might have needed to get himself some calming tea in order to settle down. Or because of the argument with Sora. Two people being protective of her, and not because she was orphaned...It was definitely new.

Riku looked up at the ceiling, as if pondering the idea. "I dunno..." he said, his smile remaining. "If you threaten to take it all, I might have to grab some. Just in case." He knew Lightning wouldn't, but the joke would at least lighten the mood. He hoped she didn't hear any of what he said earlier, or what Sora said. How embarrassing that would be.
Lightning snickered lightly, gently patting the mug with one hand. "I'll leave it be," she said. "You'll need it more than I do." She had other methods of keeping herself calm--mainly shoving all her emotions deep down inside to a place where they never came up again. That was what she had to do to survive, so she did it.

This time, Riku rolled his eyes. "Right," he answered softly. He shook his head before rising to his feet, briefly glancing at the place where he shoved Sora against the wall. Thinking back on that now, he felt bad. Maybe he went too far with that... But he just got so defensive! He would never take advantage of Lightning!
Lightning was glad Riku didn't ask why she didn't need the tea; that topic would have led them down a deep, dark road. She didn't want to go down that road today. "What time is it, anyway?" she asked, rubbing her eyes. They were definitely out for a long time. How else would they have wound up in the position they were in earlier?

"A little after noon, I think," Riku said, glancing over at the clock in the room to confirm his suspicion. He didn't know he slept for so long, but he did it comfortably. That much was for sure. But was it the same for Lightning? He hoped she didn't think he was taking advantage of her...
"Hm," Light hummed, following Riku's gaze to the clock. Only noon? She was surprised. She would have thought that they were asleep much longer than that. Now they had to figure out what they were going to do with the rest of their day. Were they both going to be sick and miserable together again? Not that they ended up being too miserable earlier. Resting on the couch together was...something else.

Riku glanced back at Lightning, lifting an eyebrow. "Wanna watch a movie, or do you want lunch?" he asked. It was about that time to eat again, and she didn't have much breakfast. It was best she got some more nutrients in her system.
Lightning shrugged. "You can have lunch. I'll start up a movie." She wasn't hungry, though she should have been, considering how little she ate lately and how small a breakfast she had. But she was a little nauseous, so of course she didn't want to try eating food only to have it come right back up again.

Riku nodded in understanding, then offering a hand to help Lightning out of bed. He expected her to keep hold of the tea, and he would grab some while lunch cooked. He would need some, since he was still running on nerves since Sora left. His friend shook him up a bit with his accusations.
Light moved to the side of the bed, putting her feet on the ground while she held the tea in one of her hands. The other grabbed Riku's lightly, and when he pulled her up, that was when things went wrong. He apparently hadn't expected her to put much energy into standing, because he pulled her roughly enough that the mug tilted back in her hand and the tea got all over the front of her torso. Ah, great, she thought, thankful that the tea wasn't scathing hot but still not comfortable. She was really wet...

Riku couldn't help but chuckle, lifting Lightning's hand slightly so he could see the tea splattered on her shirt. He shook his head at her clumsiness, then meeting her eyes. "Do you want a shirt?" he asked her, amusement evident in his tone. He had plenty clean in his room.
