Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Lightning rolled her eyes, finding that was something she often did with Riku. "No, I want to stay in these clothes," she said sarcastically. "I'll wring them out and drink the drops of calming tea so I don't beat you to a pulp." It was his fault this happened, after all. He was the one who caused her to spill it all over herself.

Riku shook his head, releasing Lightning's hand. His fingers trailed over her palm briefly before his arm fell back to his side. "Better than getting beat up," he said in agreement. He flashed Lightning a charming smile before starting out of the room to fetch a clean shirt. It would be big on her, but at least it would be free of tea.
Lightning looked after Riku, though she then looked down at the hand that he had held and fingered. He was...such a flirt! She already knew that, but it kept coming up again and again because he kept on flirting with her. Of course she noticed how he poked her side in the conversation, and how his fingers brushed hers when she grabbed the mug. He was doing this all on purpose, and she was drinking it all up like a girl desperate for love. But, she wasn't desperate, was she?

Riku approached his dresser once he was in his room and grabbed a plain black t-shirt from one of the drawers. He doubted it would fit, which was to be expected, but it would work for its purpose. It would be odd though, seeing Lightning in his clothes. It wasn't exactly a sight he was used to when it came to girls.
Lightning looked through her drawers, just in case there was something that she could wear. But she was planning on doing laundry today, so her drawers were empty. It wasn't like she had too many clothes that she wanted to wear around the house. All that was left in here were some of the dressier items that Riku got her as his girlfriend. She furrowed her eyebrows and shut the drawers, hoping he had a shirt she could wear.

Once Riku left his room, he poked his head in Lightning's room, spotting her near her dresser. He lifted an eyebrow when he saw what she was doing. What, she didn't want wear his clothes? It was just a shirt...
Light looked up when Riku reappeared in her doorway. And he looked...offended, somehow? "What?" she asked with a small shrug. It wasn't like she was against wearing his clothes, but she wasn't his real girlfriend. That was something that real girlfriends did. But then again, so was sleeping in each other's arms on the couch.

Riku closed his eyes and shook his head, smiling a little. You're just something, is all... "Nothing," he said, opening his eyes. He tossed his shirt across the room to her. "Get dressed, Light." Meanwhile, he would start lunch. He would make a larger batch, just in case she got hungry too.
Light caught the shirt easily, nodding faintly in response before heading to the bathroom connected to her room. She'd get dressed and dried off in there, and then meet Riku out in the living room. She supposed she'd choose a movie while she was out there, since he'd be busy making lunch.

Riku left Lightning to get changed, now in the kitchen as he started making some soup. He was still not feeling well, and even standing was uncomfortable, but he needed to cook himself something to eat. If he didn't get something in his system, he would feel worse. He hissed when he accidentally burned himself, cursing under his breath as he shook his hand as if to wave off the heat. His sickness was messing with his concentration...in more ways than one.
It didn't take Lightning long to pick a movie after she put on the clean shirt; Riku didn't own many DVDs. So she put it in and let the menu stay up on the television while she leaned into the corner of the couch and shut her eyes, legs laying across the couch. Riku was taking his time in the kitchen, but oh well. This was her home now too, so she was comfortable alone sometimes.

Riku finished his soup after about ten minutes, and by that time he could hear the movie going. He grabbed a bowl and spoon, as well as some tea, and made his way to the living room, glancing at the screen. Action movie, as he should have predicted. "Started without me?" he asked, taking a seat in the available chair, since Lightning's legs stretched across the couch. This would be his seat for the time being.
"Nope," Lightning said simply, reaching for the remote and pressing play. She had waited to start the movie; she just set it all up while he was gone. In the back of her mind, she wondered why it took him so long to make soup since he was a decent cook, but she let it slide. They'd get lost in the world of the movie for a little while instead of this reality.

"How considerate of you," Riku said, smirking slightly before he started eating his soup. It was hot still, and his hand still hurt from when he burnt himself on the pot. But it couldn't be helped. He sank back in his seat, eating in silence as he looked at the screen.
"Well I thought it was, especially after you spilled tea all over me," Light piped without looking over. It was just the opening credits on screen; nobody cared about those. But the fact that she actually cared about Riku, that was a shocker. She never would have pictured herself here a year ago.

Riku glanced over at Lightning, swallowing some of his soup. "With how weak you've been lately, I figured you would need a little extra help," he said in his defense, also picking on her with the words. He had to carry her to bed, but then again, half of that was because of Sora.
Lightning scoffed, looking over at Riku as she got defensive. "I'm anything but weak." She knew that he didn't mean it in that sense, but the words still rang true. Lightning was a strong individual, even if Riku made her cry a few nights ago and she was shaken by a lot of recent events. She kept her head held high and kept moving forward. That wasn't weakness.

Riku only smirked, gazing at Lightning for a moment before looking back to the television. He would let her think that, as a joke of course. He knew she was strong...very strong, in fact. But he didn't want this to go in the wrong direction...not after Sora already came over and got on Riku's case.
"You're just a showoff," Lightning said as more pointless stuff came up on the television, her eyes on that now. "Trying to make me go crazy over some muscles." Not that Riku wasn't good looking of course, because he was. He was both handsome and strong. But unlike other girls, she saw there was more to him than that.

"I didn't say anything about muscles," Riku revealed softly, his smirk still in tact as he ate his soup. He kept his eyes on screen, though he was personally proud of the acknowledgment. At least all his hours in the gym weren't a waste.
"Actions speak louder than words," Light snickered. He yanked her to her feet before she could get a firm grasp on her tea and they had their mishap. It was alright though...Riku's shirt was comfortable. She felt so weird for feeling that way, but it was the truth and she wouldn't lie to herself about it.

Riku chuckled lowly, shaking his head a little. "Touche," he said. He would give Lightning that one. He briefly glanced over at the girl on his couch, admiring her as she wore his shirt. It was big, like he predicted, but it looked...attractive. If that made sense. Riku let his eyes rest on the screen again, continuing to eat. He wasn't really that hungry, but he needed to get food in his system. He would have advised Lightning to do the same, but he didn't want to control her. She was only staying with him; he wasn't her guardian.
Lightning turned her eyes back to the screen in silence, letting the argument drop now that the movie was really beginning. Riku was something all right. Most guys wouldn't willingly lose an argument, but he did just now. And Riku had a big ego--at least when they first met. What changed to show this kinder side of him?

Riku finished his soup after a few minutes and went back into the kitchen to put the bowl in the sink. He was satisfied for now, so he would put the rest of the soup away for later. Especially if Lightning wanted some. Once it was done, he went back into the living room, returning to his seat. He was sure he could fall asleep again, both because he didn't feel good and because he'd seen this movie plenty of times before. But at least it was something to pass the time.
As the movie progressed, Lightning felt her eyelids drooping. The last time she watched a movie with Riku, she also fell asleep. It was her first night back from the abusive household... She tried to fight her tiredness by changing her position, sitting with her arms wrapped around her legs now while she was still propped up in the corner. But with her head in her knees, it was even easier to doze off.
