Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

While Sora fell down on his butt, Lightning took her chance to slide out from underneath Riku's arms. She thought about leaning forward and shoving his face into the snow, but that was too heartless even for her. So instead, she leaned down and ruffled his messy silver hair, getting some of the snow in deeper. It was an affectionate gesture too, obviously.

Riku squinted his eyes a little at the rubbing, noticing that it was gentle but hard enough to push the snow further into his hair. He looked up at Lightning, and smirked. "Kairi!" he called to his best friend, pushing himself up. "These two are teaming up. You and me!"

Kairi smiled, nodding. "Right!" She immediately bent down and picked up more snow, mercilessly throwing it at her husband while he was down. Take that!

"Oh crap," Lightning muttered, seeing Kairi go for Sora. That meant that Riku was going to go for her, and he was quite merciless. She automatically took a few steps back so that he couldn't grab her and tear her down to the ground while Sora crawled around a little bit before rising to go on the offensive. How was she going to beat Riku?

Riku smirked at Lightning, his hands out at his sides. What was he going to do to her? She would have to find out, but in a moment. He was trying to decide whether he should run for her or throw some snow. But it depended on if she would run or stand her ground.
Lightning looked over to the side and saw a group of young children came over because of all the excitement. That gave her an idea. She smirked at Riku before she sprinted over to them, kneeling down before the eight and recruiting them to her cause. Now Riku was going to be barraged by a bunch of children, and she could sit back and laugh.

"L-Lightning!" Riku called when she ran to the kids. She wouldn't dare... He knew what she was doing. How couldn't he? It was so obvious! Especially when the kids would look over at him and smile or laugh. Whatever she was telling him, it wouldn't be pleasant. At least for him.
"Hands in," Lightning ordered, putting her own hand in the center of the circle as others immediately joined in. This was it, then. This was her team. "Ready?" she smirked, seeing that the kids were ready to bounce around with glee and excitement. "Go!" They squealed and ran past her, picking up snow as they ran and throwing it at the Keyblade wielder.

"What--ah!" Riku lifted his arms and stepped back, trying to get away from the kids. But they were quick. He peeked through his arms and realized some were right beside him. "Lightning!" he hollered again. She was in big trouble for this. "Ow!"
Light laughed, shaking her head softly in amusement as Sora took the cue to also gang up on Riku. Hopefully Kairi would do the same, because this was just too good to pass up. As for her, she was going to stand here and watch. Or at least, that was the plan, until she noticed a little girl standing next to her still. She blinked in surprise, looking down and seeing a sad expression...and a missing arm. She probably couldn't play the same way that the other kids could, and it made her sad. Light's eyes softened, the girl kneeling down to be eye-to-eye with her.

"Hey!" Riku cried, taking another step back as he felt himself getting pelted with snowballs. "Cut it out!" Of course, their giggling made him smile, but he couldn't believe Lightning got them to do this. Riku took another step back, lowering his arms to look at the kids with his most intimidating glare, but that was when someone jumped on his back. "Mmph!"

"Alright, guys," Kairi said, clinging to Riku. "Get him!" She shoved snow into Riku's hair as the kids followed her idea and clung to Riku as well, also throwing snow again. It was time Riku got payback for all the times he overpowered them in the snow in the past.

Lightning studied her, just the two of them alone for a moment. In their own world. Lightning knew what it was meant to be crippled, in a figurative sense. It was when everything was set against you and you had to overcome it anyway. After a few moments, she offered the girl a small smile and started to form snowballs. "I'll make them and you throw, okay?" Out of the top of her eye, she noticed the little girl's expression change radically, the child ecstatic that she could play too. It also made Lightning's small smile remain. We'll come out on top.

"Kairi!" Riku grunted, side-stepping with some effort. "You're really not helping." He winced when a snowball hit him in the side of the face, stinging from both the coldness of his skin and the hard snow. How long was this going to last? He bet Lightning told them to go all out with this. It wasn't every day a kid got to pick on a Keyblade wielder.

Kairi only clung to Riku, adding that extra weight to slow him down as he tried to get away from all of the snowballs. She got hit by a few, but that came with the territory. "Now who's the damsel in distress?" she teased, with love of course. Riku was like her brother, and that was why she liked picking on him when she could. It didn't happen a lot of the time, so she took advantage of the opportunity.

Light nestled some snowballs in her arms, starting over to Riku with the little girl as the others all slowed down from exhaustion. Some plopped down in the snow, some giggled to each other, and others ran off to the parents that were calling them off. Once Lightning and the girl were close enough, she knelt down on a knee and allowed the girl to take a snowball out of her arms. Hearing the little girl's glee as she threw that first snowball at Riku...It made Lightning really happy.

Riku was about to retort, but a snowball impacted him square in the face. He shook his head, and noticed that it was mostly quiet, some of the kids still giggling. But that was when he saw the little girl with one arm, and Lightning right beside her. "Make a friend?" Riku asked, side-stepping again when Kairi's weight made him stumble. Lightning apparently found someone to help out with this little charade.
Light shrugged as the little girl took out another snowball, throwing it at Riku but missing. "She found me." Maybe she was acting a little tougher now, but her soft side showed in that she made the snowballs for the little girl and was accompanying her in the fight against Riku. Even if others were watching...she didn't care that her soft side was showing. But she wasn't about to overdo it.

While Riku didn't retort, Kairi still climbed off his back. She dropped her feet to the snow and stepped away, knowing that there was something more going on here. Not necessarily because of the little girl, but because of what Lightning was doing--helping her. It was a soft side that not even Riku could tease about.
"Do me a favor and go get Sora for me, okay?" Lightning murmured to the girl, pointing out the brunet for her. Since Sora wasn't too far off, Lightning could just set the snowballs on the ground for the girl to pick up and utilize. But the girl wasn't having any of that. She seemed dedicated to taking on Light's first target: Riku. She picked up another snowball and chucked it at Riku with such glee that Lightning didn't dare talk, in fear of taking away some of that happiness.

Riku lifted an arm, the snowball coming toward his chest. He managed to block it, though. "So you're Lightning's newest recruit?" he said softly, though a hint of amusement and playfulness was in his voice as he looked at the little girl. The girl only giggled, and Riku smirked. "C'mere!" He moved forward and covered the small distance between him, Lightning, and the little girl quickly, scooping the child up in his arms. He roared playfully as he hung her upside down in his grasp, though he fought a smile at her laughter. At least she didn't find him to be scary.
Light was surprised when Riku interacted with the child so naturally, but she went with it. She laughed softly along with the child, allowing the remaining snowball or two to drop to the ground. There was enough of that for now. At this moment, she was going to sit back and enjoy Riku and his interactions with the child. They were so genuine and just...sweet.

Riku held the little girl with one arm as she stayed upside down, his other hand tickling the girl's stomach. She squealed, which only caused Riku to smirk. After a moment, seeing that she was beginning to squirm from the treatment, he flipped her over in his grasp and roared playfully once again, spinning her around briefly before setting her down. The little girl was giggling, and it made him feel good to know he made her happy.
Light tilted her head and watched, smiling as the snow began to gently fall down on them again. It didn't bother her at all. After all, this was her first day in the snow. Ever. She felt a lot like that giggling little girl, being spun around and laughing all the way because it was all that happy. She knew she wouldn't forget this day, or the person who made it happen.

Riku knelt down in front of the little girl, his eyes resting on hers as she smiled. "You're a very pretty girl," he told her softly, earning a blush. "Did you have fun?" When she nodded, he did as well. "Good. There's one thing I'd like you to do for me." He glanced over at Lightning, a small smile forming on his face. "That girl over there? She's a friend of mine, and I'd like to think now that she's your friend too." Riku looked back to the little girl. "Go give her a hug for me?" The little girl nodded with a cute smile, and Riku lifted a hand to lightly ruffle her hair before she darted off towards Lightning.
Lightning blinked in surprise, the little girl wrapping her arm around the back of Lightning's neck tightly. She briefly glanced up at Riku before she recovered from the initial shock. She cautiously wrapped an arm around the little girl in response, holding her for a few seconds and gazing at her hair before the girl pulled back, giggled, and ran off towards another group of kids.

Riku rose to his feet, his eyes leaving Lightning to trail the little girl as she ran off to play with the others. A few were still looking in his and Lightning's direction, but he highly doubted that they knew either of them were in the tabloids; they weren't old enough for that stuff yet. Riku stuffed his hands in his pockets as he looked back to Lightning, his small smile still on his lips.
Lightning slowly rose to her feet, brushing some of the snow off her legs as she did. When she looked over at Riku and saw his small smile, she returned it. "So," she started. "You going to get me back for the ambush?" She wouldn't have been surprised if he did; she unleashed an army of hyper kids against him.
