Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Yes ma'am," Sora said, accepting Kairi's gloved hand with his own as he rose to his feet. Of course he didn't depend on her completely; Riku never would have let him live that one down. He looked to Riku and Lightning, seeing that the latter also looked amused at the chemistry of Sora and Kairi. They were goofy, but they went well together. "Our place or yours?" he asked Riku.

"Yours," Riku said with a small nod. Sora and Kairi's place was closer anyway, and right now, he doubted any of them wanted to walk very far. Besides, Kairi made the best hot chocolate he had ever tasted; she had the recipe at home, he was sure.
"Alright, invite yourself over, why don't you?" Sora smirked. It was alright with him; the three of them always did have a habit of showing up at each other's houses or inviting themselves over on short notice. Besides, the apartment was clean; Kairi always made sure of that. He turned away from his wife as he released her hand, putting his arms behind him. "C'mon," he said, motioning for her to get on his back. He'd give her a piggy-back ride.

Kairi smiled instantly, not hesitating in jumping on her husband's back and wrapping her arms lovingly around his neck and shoulders. She glanced over at Riku and saw him shaking his head at her and Sora, but she only stuck her tongue out at him. He only rolled his eyes at her, but she turned her head and placed a kiss in Sora's wet, spiky hair. She was ready when he was.

Light turned her head to the side, hearing a member of the press yelling at Riku to "give her a lift." Great, the press wanted them to follow the example of Sora and Kairi. Though she and Riku were a bit flirty in public (and in private) they would never be up to Sora and Kairi's level. Their love was just plain cheesy.

Riku glanced over at the press, though he wasn't exactly surprised by the suggestion. He knew it was bound to happen. He looked over at Sora and Kairi then, giving them a look of annoyance. You just had to get all lovey-dovey, didn't you? he wanted to say. But instead, he turned to Lightning and shrugged. "Up to you," he said. He would have no problem carrying her. But would she want to do everything the press told them to?
Lightning glanced at Riku, the press, and then back again. "Not just because the press wants us to," she said, though that didn't necessarily put the option out the window. She just didn't want to get up on Riku's back or have him carry her because of the pressure of the media. If they were going to do this, she wanted it to be because they wanted it.

Riku suddenly thought of his revenge, and he smirked. He released Lightning's hand and instead picked her up, throwing her over his shoulder. The press could snap pictures of them walking through the city with her thrown over his shoulder, and then she could deal with the embarrassment later. He was giving her a "lift" like the press wanted, but he was being a smart-aleck about it. As usual.
"Riku!" Lightning scolded, pressing a hand into his back as she propped herself up a little bit. This isn't what anybody meant by "give her a lift"! If she was able to see Sora, she would have seen him snickering as he caught onto what Riku was doing. But this wasn't nearly as fun-loving as her attack on him had been earlier. It would be cruel to go through the city like this.

Riku only chuckled, starting in the direction of Sora and Kairi's apartment. He lifted an arm and waved lightly at the press, his smirk still on his face. Good enough for you? he wanted to ask, but he kept his mouth shut. Instead, he focused on keeping his grip around Lightning, who was going to remain over his shoulder until they reached Sora and Kairi's apartment. Unless, of course, she could convince him to let her go.
Lightning heard Sora comment about the "nice revenge", and then she caught onto why he was doing this to her. "Oh come on," she muttered, setting another hand on Riku's back and pushing herself up taller as to throw off his balance and also get herself free. "This is so much worse than having kids throw snowballs at you."

Riku adjusted his hold to Lightning's new position, holding her more securely. "But it's not as painful," he said, glancing at her out of the corner of his eye. They were away from the park now, on the sidewalk. And people were staring at them, not only because they knew who they were, but because of their positions: Sora and Kairi doing piggy-back, and Riku carrying Lightning over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. It was probably an interesting sight.
"But it's ten times more embarrassing," Lightning said, lifting a hand and gently whacking the back of Riku's head. She didn't dare look behind Riku to see if the press were following; she just knew they were even without recognizing them. It was even worse that this was all getting caught on camera.

Riku blinked at the whack, but otherwise didn't respond to it. "A Keyblade wielder getting attacked by kids is embarrassing," he said in his own defense. He was sure the press caught plenty of that. Riku was just returning the favor.
Lightning sighed, relaxing a little in Riku's hold when she realized something. "You're beyond reason, aren't you?" Even if she kept on trying to argue with him about whether this was just or not, he was going to keep on carrying her along anyway. The price for sending a bunch of kids against Riku in a snowball fight was steep indeed.
  • Author
"Yup," Riku replied, nodding as well. Sora and Kairi were about three steps ahead, but he continued following. A few girls recognized him and he let his famous smile do the greeting for him, though they also spotted Lightning. He wasn't sure what to make of their expressions, but he was pleased with this. He wouldn't keep her up here the entire time, though; she only sent the kids after him for a few minutes.
Lightning propped an elbow against Riku's back, hand up to her face as they walked. Sora, Kairi, and Riku were having a conversation, but she just looked down at the ground with a bored expression. She should have just said yes to the piggy-back ride; then this wouldn't have happened. Hopefully this was as far as Riku's revenge would go.

Kairi laughed at something Sora said, her arms still around her husband as he carried her. But she glanced back at Lightning when things fell silent for a moment. She looked miserable. "Riku, put her down," Kairi encouraged. "Give her some love." His expression at that moment was priceless, and Kairi only smiled cheekily. The press would be happy to see him show her affection, and she was sure Lightning would like it too. The way the two flirted with each other was adorable, and she knew Riku enjoyed it.

Lightning could hear Sora snickering at Kairi's comment and how it got Riku to react. It was a good thing that nobody could see her expression too well as she was on Riku's back; they would have seen her blink in surprise to Kairi's comment. Good thing the press didn't hear that; they would have been yelling and encouraging Riku to follow through with that request.

Riku sent a glare Sora and Kairi's way, but then he did as Kairi suggested. He stopped walking and started to set Lightning down, doing it gently. Lightning had to have been uncomfortable, and he decided the time she was over his shoulder was long enough--about equivalent to the amount of time he was attacked by those kids.
Lightning set a hand on Riku's free shoulder to keep herself balanced once she was on her feet, her stomach aching from the position. That had gotten pretty uncomfortable in a hurry. "Is that the extent of your revenge?" she asked, looking up at Riku. It had been worse than what happened in the park in her opinion, so hopefully this would declare them even.
  • Author
"By the way you're looking at me," Riku said lowly, tilting his head a little, "I'll say we're even." Lightning looked like she was in pain, and he would make sure that was as far as his revenge went. The last thing he wanted to do was hurt her.
Lightning rolled her eyes, taking her hand back. She had to admit that she was a little annoyed, and embarrassed. This was much harsher than her dealings with Riku in the park. But she'd let it slide. "Shame," she said. "I hoped you'd admit you went overboard so I could shove more snow down your coat."

Riku smiled, lifting a hand and brushing some of Lightning's hair out of her eyes, not even thinking about the motion. "Maybe tomorrow," he told her softly. Right now, the last place any of them wanted to be was outside. It was far too cold.
Sora turned around when he and Kairi were a few steps ahead, seeing Riku brush Lightning's hair out of her eyes. "Anytime you're ready, lovebirds," he called. When he saw Lightning turn around and send him a brief glare, he knew that he and Kairi were in trouble. He spun around and began to run towards the apartment, trusting Riku would understand what was going on. It was a race now.
