Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku heard Kairi squeal since she was still on Sora's back, but he didn't let that stop him from catching Sora's drift. "C'mon!" he said, grabbing Lightning's hand and starting to pull her with him as he ran. The apartment wasn't too far off; if they ran fast enough, they could beat Sora to it.
As Riku and Lightning followed at a quick pace, Sora dared to look over his shoulder once. "Not fair!" he cried to Riku. "I meant you had to carry her!" Sora was carrying Kairi on his back and it was slowing him down, so Riku should have been slowing down by having Lightning on his back as well. What a cheater.

"Your fault, not mine!" Riku panted, keeping his grip on Lightning's hand tight as he led her through the race. They were close now, and thankfully there weren't any ice patches on the sidewalks, or this could have been dangerous. He saw Sora and Kairi's apartment complex not too far off, and he only smiled. They could win this.
Unfortunately, Sora played Lightning and Riku. The sidewalk wasn't wide enough for both Riku and Lightning to pass while holding hands, so Sora kept on getting in their way whenever they tried to do it. And Riku wouldn't let go of her hand, since they were competing as pairs. All of them entered the lobby of the apartment building, panting as Sora and Kairi held onto their victory.

Kairi cheered as they reached the lobby, throwing her hands up in the air. Sora had a secure enough grip on her legs that she wouldn't fall. "Victory is ours!" she cried. "Eat that, Riku!" She stuck her tongue out at him again, only to see him roll his eyes. He never was good at losing.

Riku panted, his hand still holding Lightning's as he lifted the other and pointed to the couple. "Next time," he said. Next time, he and Lightning would win. He wouldn't let Sora brag about this for long.

"Next time," Sora panted, gently beginning to set Kairi on the ground. "You'll play by the rules." If Sora had a girl on his back, then Riku did too. It wasn't fair for Riku not to be bogged down by the extra weight. Not that Lightning was heavy, of course, because she wasn't at all.

Riku shook his head. "You never laid out the rules. You just ran, so I did too," he explained. He glanced at Lightning once he saw Kairi start heading toward the elevators, and he released Lightning's hand as he took a step forward. Riku focused back on Sora, patting his friend on the shoulder. "Beggars can't be choosers."
"Guess not," Sora sighed, following Kairi into the elevator along with his two other friends. When they reached his and Kairi's floor and saw two people standing outside the door, he suddenly recalled that it was good they came here instead of Riku's apartment. After all, they agreed to meet these two here. It would have been bad if they were no-shows to their own apartment.

Riku wasn't sure what to do when he saw Serah and Noel, especially the former. He hadn't talked to her once since the incident with Ashe, and he had a feeling that she wasn't very fond of him because of it. Hearing Kairi greet the two verbally, Riku lifted a hand in a slight wave. He guessed it was hot chocolate for six instead of four.
Serah lifted a hand, smiling weakly. "About time you all showed up," she said, looking to Sora and Kairi and then to Riku and her sister. Lightning had called her the other day to talk about Riku, and Serah supposed that if Lightning forgave him, Serah could too. But he had to know she'd be keeping an eye on him for a while after what he did. Hurting Lightning was serious business.

"We got caught up in the snow," Kairi said with a small smile, glancing back at her friends before unlocking the apartment door. She pushed it open and stepped inside, hearing the footsteps of her friends following. She took off her shoes and coat before heading towards the bedroom to change; she would make the hot chocolate once she was in warmer clothes. "Make yourselves at home!" she called behind her, but she was sure everyone knew that already. They'd been here before.
Serah walked in after Riku and Lightning, focusing on the latter for conversation. "You have clothes to change into? You're soaked." She frowned when Lightning shook her head. She should have thought ahead. Serah heard about how sick Lightning was yesterday, and if she stayed in these wet clothes, she was going to get that way again.

"I'm sure Kairi's got some you can borrow," Noel said, plopping down on the couch. Kairi and Lightning were around the same size; it wouldn't be that big of a deal if Lightning borrowed clothes. He was sure Sora would agree. He and Riku bumped fists as the older of the two sat down next to him on the couch. He hadn't seen Riku in days... Ever since the incident. He hoped he was doing okay.
"Yeah," Sora agreed. Except for the fact that Lightning was several inches taller than Kairi was. She was closer to Sora's height than Kairi's, but he wouldn't put her in any of his clothes. The idea of another woman wearing them, even a friend, was weird. "I'll go check." He started back towards the bedroom, ready to get out of his wet clothes as well.

Riku let Noel start a conversation with him while Sora and Kairi were absent, though it was a conversation about how he was doing after the tabloid explosion. He shrugged, saying that he was dealing with the consequences. The press seemed to forgive him, but he wasn't sure if Lightning had completely. Or Serah, for that matter.
Lightning and Serah both just listened in, though Serah was testing Riku more than she was by silently picking at his words. Light was protective of her younger sister, but Serah was just as protective of her. Especially when it came to matters of the heart. The elder sibling had little experience in the ways of love.

Kairi entered the living room with a pair of sweatpants and a comfortable long-sleeved shirt for Lightning, hearing Riku still talking to Noel. She heard a few words that signaled this was a topic about Ashe and the scandal, but she ignored it. "Lightning," she said softly, standing near Riku's position on the couch. "I hope these work for you. They're the most comfortable and hold the most warmth." She held up the clothes, smiling faintly.
Lightning nodded faintly, saying her thanks as she accepted the clothes. She saw the bathroom just down the hall, so she started back there so that she could change. Hopefully the clothes would fit her, and like Kairi said, keep her warm. She was really chilled to the bone with how often she fell into the snow today.

"So, Kairi," Noel said, looking at his sister-in-law with a knowing smile. "Hot chocolate, right?" She always did make the best hot cocoa, especially on winter days like this. Besides, it was Christmas Eve! The least they all could have was a nice, warm beverage.

Kairi's small smile remained as she looked at Noel. "Yes, Noel," she said softly. He was always asking for her hot chocolate during the winter, and today was no exception. "Be patient for the next ten minutes, okay?" He whined a little, and he heard Riku taunt him for it. As usual.

"If you're so impatient, go make it yourself," Sora said as he reentered the room, speaking after Riku's taunting to Noel. He had heard the exchange, obviously. He cast his little brother a smirk before he plopped down on a recliner. Kairi dubbed that Sora's throne, because it was his favorite seat. And hers too, whether she admitted it or not. She liked sitting on his lap when he was in the seat.

"Noel probably can't even make chocolate milk," Riku said, smirking. He grunted when Noel punched him in the shoulder. "Hey!" Noel laughed and Riku slugged him back, which stopped his laughter instantly. Kairi fought her own set of giggles as she went into the kitchen area, which was open to the rest of the room, and started on her hot chocolate.
"That would explain a lot," Sora snickered, speaking of his younger brother lovingly. "He always was a lazy bum who had everything done for him." Says the child of the same parents, he thought to himself. They did a lot for him in his younger years, but he became more responsible after the Keyblade. Well, a little more. He still had lazy moments.

"And you didn't get married for the same reason?" Riku asked, looking over at Sora. He lifted an eyebrow in waiting, though he also heard Kairi laugh softly in the kitchen. Apparently she did a lot of the chores around the house, but surely Sora pitched in.
Sora scoffed. "Oh please," he said. "I got married so that I could call the most beautiful girl in all the worlds mine." He looked over at her and flashed a winning, loving smile. As much as he loved Kairi and all her cooking abilities, he loved her even more. And with his obsession with food, that spoke highly of his love for his wife.

Kairi glanced over at Sora, spotting that smile and returning it with a softer one of her own. Thank you, she silently told him. Sora was so sweet, and that was one of the reasons she fell in love with him. It was just a bonus that he was her hero.
