Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Hm," Light hummed, peeking her eyes open. She didn't immediately see Riku, not that she expected to. It was obvious he was sitting on the bed. She sat up a little bit, looking down at him and seeing that he looked very much awake. Had he been waiting for her for a long time? Then again, why would he need to wait for her?

Riku met Lightning's gaze, his smile growing a little. "Merry Christmas," he said softly, holding out the small box in his hand. He was sure the gift would wake Lightning up a little more, and she had some time since they weren't leaving for his parents' for a while. But...he wanted to do this here, in the privacy of his home.
Lightning blinked, propping herself up a little more as she eyed the box and then Riku. "What is it?" she asked, though she realized after she spoke that it was a ridiculous question. It was a gift, so she wasn't supposed to know what it was until she opened it. She'd blame it on her drowsiness. But what did Riku have to give her that was worth waking her up for?

"Heh," Riku laughed softly, glancing down at the gift. "Open it and see." He kept his light grasp on the box until Lightning took it, his eyes on hers. He had been looking forward to giving her this for a while, and now it was finally time. He hoped she liked it...
Light sat herself up completely, scooting down the bed a little bit so that she sat closer to Riku. The box wasn't small enough to be a ring, and it was a good thing it wasn't a ring, because she wasn't too into jewelry. Yet that was clearly what it was. She opened the box carefully, wondering what Riku was thinking until she saw the necklace. "Oh," she breathed softly. It was a lightning bolt necklace.

Riku looked from Lightning to the necklace. "I saw it in a jewelry store in the city," he told her gently. "It's one of a kind... As soon as I saw it, I thought of you." He knew the moment he spotted the necklace that he had to get it. Lightning was unique, and the necklace was just like her in that sense.

Light lowered her hand towards it, gently running her index finger over it. "I love it," she said quietly, lifting her gaze to Riku. She was touched by the gesture, obviously. It was also obvious that she believed his tale, that he saw this and thought of her. There weren't many lightning bolt necklaces out there, but this one was better than any other ones she saw. Normally she would have thought it would be cheesy to wear a lightning bolt necklace with her name, but this one fit.

Riku's eyes met Lightning's at the words, and he couldn't help but smile. She loved it... "Lift your hair," he told her, reaching forward and grasping the necklace. He took it out of the box gently, wanting to see it on Lightning. He was sure it would look great.
Lightning smiled faintly, lifting her hands as Riku instructed and lifting her pink hair. It was a little messy because she slept on it, but it wasn't too bad. The fact that Riku was doing this...the fact that he was making it special...It was so sweet that he put this much thought into it. It reminded her of how much she liked him and why that was.

Riku didn't bother telling Lightning to turn around; he could easily place the necklace on this way too. He leaned forward and brought the necklace around her neck in silence, his face near hers as he looked behind her in order to clasp it. Once that was done, he let his fingers trail underneath the chain to make sure it set right, his knuckles briefly running over her skin as he sat back. As soon as he took his hand back, Riku couldn't help but smile. Perfect.

Light glanced down at the necklace, smiling softly as she turned her gaze to Riku. She didn't know what to say, really. She hadn't expected anything like this; she hadn't expected anything at all but time with him. It made her wish even more that she could have found a gift suitable for him. He was a hard person to shop for. Nevertheless... Merry Christmas.

Riku gazed at Lightning, able to tell by the look in her eyes that she was pleased. That was good... Really good. "Merry Christmas, Light," he said softly. After all he put her through, she deserved the best. A gift like this... It was just a small fraction of what she should have gotten. But...he wasn't sure what else he could get her. It seemed like this was perfect though, and that was okay with him.
"Merry Christmas, Riku," Light responded softly, saying his name just because she liked the sound of it leaving her lips. She knew how much she enjoyed hearing him say her name, and call her Light. He was the person who came up with that name for her, implying he saw more in her than her harsh exterior. She appreciated that a lot, because it helped her see herself that way as well.

Riku's smile widened slightly, and he lifted a hand to Lightning's cheek, lightly running his thumb over her skin. After a moment, he let it drop. "Breakfast is ready when you are," he told her softly. All she needed to do was join him in the kitchen. Gifts with Riku weren't necessary; he wasn't expecting anything anyway. After what happened with Ashe, the last thing Riku expected from Lightning was a gift.
"I guess it's getting cold now, huh?" Lightning asked softly, lowering her gaze to Riku's hand. If it was getting cold, she supposed that they needed to head out and eat before it got any colder. If it could be reheated, perhaps they could sit here for another moment or two. And then she could shower. She felt like a mess, even if she didn't look it.

"Mm," Riku hummed with a small nod. They were pancakes, so he doubted they would stay heated for long. Of course, warm syrup could help, but it wouldn't be as good. He was sure that at this point, though, breakfast didn't matter. To either of them.
"Hm," Lightning hummed. But she didn't move, because it seemed like Riku didn't want to move either. So she reached for his hand and lightly held it in hers, her gaze going down to it briefly before she gazed into his eyes again. Riku was a good guy. He just kept on reminding her how incredible he was even if he didn't mean to. That's how good he was.

Riku gazed at Lightning's hand holding his, and after a second, he wrapped his fingers around her smaller ones. "What?" he asked quietly, lifting his eyes to look at the girl in the bed. Even if she just woke up, she still caught his eye. Just because she was Lightning.
Light shook her head softly, smiling in the same manner. Nothing, she wanted to say. She and Riku were allowed to be up front with each other now; their feelings were clear. It was rare that they weren't showing signs of affection or flirting with each other. She'd say she was head over heels for him, but she had felt this way for a long while. She was charmed by more than just a pretty face though.

Riku hummed softly in understanding, then looking down at their hands. He wasn't sure why, but...this was different than all the other times he held girls' hands. With Ashe, it didn't feel this way. Whatever "this" was. Riku knew he liked Lightning...a lot, but sometimes, he just couldn't wrap his head around it. It was hard to believe that he felt so strongly for someone...
Light moved a little closer to Riku, gently resting her head against his shoulder in silence. Well, if there wasn't a rush to get to breakfast, then she was going to sit here for a few more moments. As long as Riku was here anyway. If he was going to leave, obviously she would too. Staying here without him would have been pointless.

Riku gazed down at Lightning, and a sudden thought passed through his head. Kiss her, you idiot. But...he couldn't. Not now. It wasn't the right time for something like that. Riku's grasp on Lightning's hand tightened a little, the young man turning his head and resting his chin atop her pink hair. What're you doing to me? he asked her silently. She changed him, made him see things so differently than he did before. It was...new.
Lightning shut her eyes, exhaling a soft breath. She shared the same thoughts as Riku then. What are you doing to me? Why did she crave this physical and emotional nearness to him? Why did her heart leap whenever he looked at her the way that he did? She never expected this to happen to her. She thought she was beyond hope when it came to acting human, but apparently she wasn't.

Riku sat in silence with Lightning for a small moment, staring at the lamp on the bedside table. But then his phone rang, making him jump in surprise. He lifted his chin from Lightning's head and looked down as he dug into his front pocket for his phone, his other hand still holding Lightning's. He gazed at the caller ID, not at all surprised that it was his mother calling. Riku lifted the phone to his ear. "Hello?"
Lightning looked down at the ground when Riku answered his phone, though she didn't step out of the room to give him privacy. The fact that he was still holding onto her hand told her that it was alright to still be in here. That was alright with her as well, just as long as she could stay close like she was now.
