Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Point being that your heart is a victim to the Darkness if you don't stop hiding behind your shell," Riku said, putting it bluntly. "Been there, and it nearly killed me. I doubt that's a fate you rea

"Mhm," Lightning hummed, just as alert as Riku was now. She stayed against him, looking up at him as he continued to hold onto her. "...But I think I just discovered my preference." She preferred snow to ice, because slipping on snow didn't cause things like this. If you tripped over snow, you landed on it. The same went for ice, but ice wasn't nearly as nice to land on, or so she assumed.

Riku laughed softly, his eyes staying on Lightning as he relaxed a little. His grasp wasn't as tight, but it was still secure. That had been close, but at least Lightning now understood why he liked snow better than ice. Ice was more dangerous, and not nearly as fun.
"Or...maybe not," Light added after a few moments, her eyes turning up in a crooked smile as she looked up at Riku from underneath her eyelashes. Perhaps she preferred ice to snow, because it created moments like this. She was pretty glad that there weren't many people out and about though; slipping up like that was a bit embarrassing. She should have been watching where she was going.

Riku's smile turned into a smirk at the words, and he lifted an eyebrow. "Are you flirting with me, Light?" he asked, lightly taunting her. He kept her close, not exactly rejecting her. He wouldn't, if given the chance. He liked her too much to do that. Much too much.
Lightning made a sound of disgust. "You think everything is flirting, don't you?" she asked, though she was teasing him for being so much of a flirt. He flirted with her a lot, as well as other girls in the past. Yet she hadn't noticed it happen while he was with her. That didn't mean it didn't happen, but she never spotted it. That was good.

"Given some circumstances, yes," Riku said, keeping his eyes locked on Lightning's. His smirk remained, and nothing threatened to make it disappear. The paparazzi weren't on them like hounds today, since it was a holiday. They at least gave them that much respect.
"Some circumstances," Lightning repeated in humor, expecting Riku to elaborate on that. What, was he referring to this position here? This wasn't flirting...at first. It was him catching her before she would have fallen on her face. But now...Yeah, it was definitely flirting. And she was playing along with it. It was so unlike who she was a few months ago...

"Well, most circumstances," Riku said lowly. He took in their close proximity, and actually...enjoyed it. But what he wouldn't admit was that he was flirting with Lightning, right now. But that was probably obvious.
"Nobody could convince you otherwise, huh?" Lightning asked with a slight smirk. Of course nobody could convince Riku things were different; once he had something set in his head, it was there for a good long time. He was too stubborn to give up his views too easily about anything. In this case, whether Lightning was flirting with him or not.

Riku loosened his grip a little, lifting his gaze to a house nearby. They were close to his parents' home. "Not really," he admitted, stepping away from Lightning once he was sure she had her footing. He would let her think what she wanted, but...he couldn't remember a time when girls that weren't his friends didn't flirt with him. It was...odd.
"Stubborn fool," Light commented with a small smile, her hand slowly releasing Riku's jacket. She hadn't realized how tightly she had been gripping it before. Obviously Riku hadn't minded though, considering that he continued to hold onto her without complaining. As if he'd ever complain about having her close.

Riku started forward, though he turned, walking backwards along the sidewalk as he looked at Lightning. "This stubborn fool just saved your life," he said with the same smirk. And he didn't regret that decision for a second.
Lightning rolled her eyes, walking to keep up with Riku as she faced him and that taunting smile. "That's not exaggeration at all," she said sarcastically. Riku saved her life by preventing her from falling on her face? He may have saved her from some pain, but her life was never at stake here.

Riku chuckled before turning around to face forward, his hands stuffed in his pockets comfortably. They didn't have much farther to walk, so the bitter cold wouldn't affect them for much longer. But the trip wasn't so bad; it was actually kind of nice, save for Lightning nearly falling on her face. Even though that would have been hilarious.
Light caught up to Riku, a hand grasping his arm automatically. Just in case she slipped again and started to fall. She really wasn't used to snow and ice and all that. Bodhum had been either sunny or rainy--there wasn't much more than that. That was why she liked Destiny Islands' weather better--it had more variety.

Riku didn't nudge Lightning's hand away, actually preferring her being close. Not only could he help her more easily if she decided to step on an ice patch again, but people would know that she was with him. Well, not officially, but it looked that way. And that was better than nothing.
Lightning didn't consciously decide to step on another patch of ice; she was trying to avoid another one when she stepped on an invisible patch. She gripped Riku's arm more tightly, stopping suddenly so that she could catch herself rather than face-plant. Why was she so ungraceful today? She was normally great with balance!

Riku stopped walking, looking over at Lightning. "Do I have to carry you or something?" he teased lightly. He couldn't exactly do that, considering the backpack he had on. But it was worth the joke, at least. He waited until Lightning was balanced again to start walking, though his eyes stayed on her.

"Ha ha," Lightning commented sarcastically, continuing to grasp Riku's arm as they started forward again. He wouldn't have dared to actually carry her though; that would have thrown off his own balance quite a bit. The last thing they needed was both of them tumbling down to the ground. Thankfully they were almost to his parents' house now, though she wasn't sure it was going to be good there. Did his parents even like her...?

Riku smiled the rest of the way to his parents'. When they approached the house, he noticed that Sora and Kairi's car wasn't in the driveway, which meant they weren't early. That was good. Riku kind of wanted his parents to pay attention to him and Lightning...or just Lightning. He liked to think that she was happier than she was back when she and Serah got separated. Pushing the button near the door for the doorbell, Riku couldn't help but wonder what his parents would think.
Lightning slowly took her hand off Riku's arm, looking to the doorway. Of course she was nervous about this; his parents didn't like her much in the past. They hadn't really spoken over the last month except for concerns about Serah. What if they didn't like her? ...And why the heck was she so worried about getting their approval? This wasn't like her.

Locke approached the door when he heard the bell chime through the house. Of course it was his son and Lightning. Who else were they expecting at that time? "Hello, son," he greeted once he opened the door. "Lightning." He wore a small smile, happy to see the two of them. He hadn't spoken to his son in person in weeks, nor had he seen Lightning.

Riku smiled a little, nodding to his father. He'd spoken with his father over the phone recently, but nothing more. He couldn't exactly come to their house with the press hot on his tail. It would have brought attention to his parents and Serah, and that wasn't what Riku wanted.

Lightning smiled faintly, nodding as well. She tried to fight any nervous habits such as shifting her weight on her feet or touching her hair, the young woman instead putting a hand in her pocket. "Merry Christmas," she said, fighting the urge to call him "sir". That would have been a bit overboard, at least to her.

Locke nodded to the girl. "Merry Christmas," he said. He stepped aside, opening the door a little more. "Come on in." He noticed that his son silently motioned for Lightning to go in first, and though it wasn't supposed to surprise him, it did. Riku had become quite the gentleman lately. He remembered how in the past Riku had been reckless with the girls on the Islands. But...Lightning was different, apparently.

Lightning wished that Riku would have gone in first; it would have been easier to follow his lead. Nevertheless, she stepped in past Mr. Cole and into the entrance-way. She was here before, to help Serah move in. But that had been about it. And speaking of Serah--

"Lightning!" Serah cried with glee, running into the foyer and seeing her elder sister walk in. She ran into her sister and nearly tackled her in an embrace, delighted to see her. Even if they just saw each other yesterday, this was different. It was Christmas after all. A day that they absolutely needed to be together.
