Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku stepped into the house as well, feeling his father's hand on his shoulder as soon as the door was shut. He smiled to his parent. "How's it going, Dad?" he asked softly, though he couldn't ignore the exciting reunion that was going on out of the corner of his eye. Apparently Serah was excited to see Lightning. As Riku's father answered him, he couldn't help but hope his parents would be the same way.

"Just in time, Riku!" Celes called, stepping into the room with a smile. "Serah just found all the old home videos. I thought maybe we'd watch one before lunch." She noticed she caught the girl's attention with that comment, and while Serah smiled with excitement, Celes greeted Lightning with a smile of her own.

Riku's eyes widened instantly. Old home videos? "...Merry Christmas...I think," he said, lingering by his father. If this was his Christmas gift from his mother, he would gladly decline. He wasn't exactly thrilled at Lightning or Serah seeing him as a kid. Talk about embarrassing.

Celes chuckled warmly. "Everyone to the living room," she said, motioning with her hands to go on. They were going to sit through at least one of them, unless it proved to embarrassing for Riku. But if she wasn't mistaken, Lightning looked a bit excited to see them. It would be something worth teasing Riku about in the future, if Lightning was that type of person.

Riku saw the others go toward the living room, so he approached his mother. "Hi, Mom," he said, leaning forward and placing a kiss on her cheek in greeting. "No nude videos of me, okay?" He could handle the rest...just as long as he wasn't naked.

Celes lifted a hand to her son's hair, running her hand over it lightly to smooth it out. "But those are my favorite ones," she cooed, though she was teasing him. She didn't believe there was anything inappropriate in these videos, and if there was, she'd push the stop button right away.

Riku made a face at his mother, but nonetheless went into the living room where everyone else was. His father was in his chair, while there were open spots on the couch. Riku took the one that was conveniently open next to Lightning. He wasn't excited about this, but he was just glad Sora wasn't here. Or Kairi. Sora would tease him to no end, but then again, Sora was in some of the videos. Kairi too, though she would probably gush about how "cute" they were as kids.

Celes entered the room following her son, grabbing the remote and pressing play as she took an empty seat on an individual seat. As soon as the video began, she beamed. There was Riku with a little play sword, prattling on about how he was a hero because he protected his friends and family from a vicious monster.

Riku instantly covered his eyes with one hand, leaning his elbow against the arm of the couch. Oh no...he thought in dread. He should have expected this. His mother always did capture these kinds of moments, especially when he was five. This was what happened most--him taking on the heroic role to save his friends from "scary monsters."
Serah started laughing at the video while Lightning snickered as quietly as she could. But she really had to fight her laughter when Riku called the dog (his enemy) Fluffy the Terrible. She brought a hand to her lips, hearing others in the room laughing more openly. That poor dog, being poked with a toy sword. And poor Riku, having this shown in front of everyone...

Riku risked a glance, his hand over his mouth as he gazed at the television. Their dog at the time was a pomeranian, so the name fit. But terrible? Not so much. He looked over at his mother. "You planned this, didn't you?" he asked then, humiliation written all over his face. Celes picked this tape on purpose because she knew what they'd find.

"No," Celes said through her laughter, which she was trying to contain for Riku's sake. "This was just one of the ones we found." She popped it in without even looking to see what its contents were. It made sense, considering that she knew all the home videos contained good material.

Locke smiled as he looked at the television, seeing Riku point his sword at the camera before it faded to black. But a second later, another scene showed up. It was Riku and his friend running around in the backyard. He started laughing instantly. "Look at Sora," he said, pointing at the television. Times like these were engraved in his mind. Riku and Sora always had so much fun.

"Aw, Sora!" Serah squealed. The brunet was so adorable! He didn't look like he was the smoothest on his feet yet, but he was so precious as he and Riku ran around the yard. Even when Sora fell down on his face and started to cry, he was so cute. And so was Riku when he went over and dusted the sand off his best friend.

Riku smiled despite himself, shaking his head. "I saved his behind, even back then," he recognized softly. He chuckled a little when Sora stopped crying and instantly rebounded, tagging Riku before running off with a squeal. Of course, Riku had gone after him, running around the swingset and the tree to catch his best friend. Those had been good times.
Lightning smiled faintly. So, Riku was the same in the past as he was now. Still looking out for people and being a good-natured guy. One thing he did grow out of, though, was his lisp. It was a bit of a shame; that lisp was perhaps the cutest thing she ever heard.

Riku risked a glance over at Lightning and Serah throughout the videos, though he specifically focused on Lightning more. She was...smiling. She actually liked watching this stuff? He glanced back at the screen when his father laughed again, and Riku was met with his kid-self's glare at the camera. His arms were crossed and he frowned at the camera, clearly not happy with what his father was telling him. Riku couldn't remember specifically, but it had something to do with having to go to school.

"That face..." Locke chuckled, looking over at Riku. "You still have that same look!" His son looked over at him and frowned, crossing his arms as well, and that was when Locke burst into more laughter. Yup, that's the one.

Lightning caught onto Locke's humor, and so did Celes as they all looked from the screen to Riku and laughed. He was making almost the same exact expression. "Still have that angry look down," she stated, lightly nudging Riku with her elbow. He was so funny though. His childhood was so embarrassing to him!

Riku uncrossed his arms at the nudge, instead lifting a hand and ruffling Lightning's hair. Shut up, he told her silently, his playful nature showing he was just joking. But really, this was kind of embarrassing. He was fighting a blush as he took his arm back, leaning his elbow against the arm of the couch as he smirked in Lightning's direction. But that was when he heard his family and friends singing happy birthday to him on the screen. Riku turned his head to look back at the television, and he was greeted with him and Sora running over to the table so Riku could blow out the candles.

After the birthday scene, a new one came up: One of Riku in the bathtub. That was when Celes decided he had enough humiliation. "Alright, alright," she said, pushing the stop button. The picture faded, though it hadn't been inappropriate in the first place because the bathtub was full of bubbles. Still, enough was enough.

Riku had covered his eyes in humiliation again when the bathtub scene showed up. I had bubbles on my head, he thought in dread. Of course, he was just a kid then, so it was acceptable. But looking back on it, it was embarrassing. Lightning probably found it hiliarious, though, given the chuckles he heard throughout the whole thing.
Lightning lifted her hands to her lips, picturing an older Riku with bubbles on his head. Not in the bathtub, obviously--just with the bubbles. In some ways, she could still see that child in him. And she liked it, because it enforced even more that Riku was a human and not just a Keyblade warrior. And that his journeys didn't change him completely. That was good.

Locke looked over and saw his son's humiliation, which caused him to smirk a little. But he decided to save the grief for later. "Time for lunch?" he asked, rising from his seat as he looked to his wife. As far as he knew, everything was ready.

"Time for lunch," Celes declared, rising to her feet. "Then we'll do presents." There were a lot sitting under the tree, for all three children and then Sora and Kairi as well. Celes and Locke were well off, so they spoiled the kids at this time of year. Besides, they were all family now, in one way or another.

Riku sighed in relief, rising from his seat as well. He already knew he was going to get grief for the video later, and if anyone mentioned it to Kairi, she would want to watch another. It was bound to happen, so at least when it happend the second time, he would be prepared. Sora, on the other hand, wouldn't. That would help soothe Riku a little, at least.
