Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku ran through the suburbs, that being the area he had traveled in when he left the beach. But...now he understood why the Islands were so quiet. Nobody was moving; everyone on the streets, on the sidewalks, and most likely in their homes was unconscious. He looked around at everyone, recognizing some people from his high school days that still lived on the Islands. He slid to a stop in the slushy snow, however, when he recognized pink hair. Lightning.
Lightning was out cold, literally, as she laid in some snow. She had been on her way to Riku's gym, since she overtook the Guardian Corps for him while he was away. It was then that she found herself suddenly so drowsy that she couldn't walk anymore and collapsed into the snow. That was where she remained now, completely unaware of her surroundings or that anyone else was passed out.

Riku raced to Lightning's side, his knees sliding along the mush as he stopped next to her. "Lightning," he said, lifting his hand to her head. "Light, look at me." He was begging, something he didn't normally do. But this wasn't under normal circumstances. This was...bad. Very bad.
Light didn't respond to Riku, not hearing him or sensing his presence. This was the same thing that Sora and Riku went through in their dreams; when they were unconscious, they were completely unaware of what was going on around them. Though she wasn't having flashbacks of anything, she still had no sense of what was happening.

Riku lifted Lightning in his arms slightly, shaking her. "Lightning!" he cried, pleaing. She had to wake up! He wasn't sure what would happen to everyone if they stayed unconscious, or if they would even wake up soon. Riku could have been out for hours earlier. He held Lightning tightly, cradling her against his chest as he looked around. All of these people... They had no idea what was happening.
Xehanort walked down the sidewalk as Riku cried out, walking in the direction of the distraught young man in silence. He didn't know who the young woman was that he was holding, but he didn't care just as long as the Keyblade Master stayed out of his way. If he was here, concerned over the girl in his arms, then he wasn't warning Roxas about what was coming for him.

Riku tensed when he heard footsteps not too far off, and he lowered his voice. "Light, come on. Wake up, please!" he begged, looking down at her. But he got no reply. Riku cradled her head to his chest with one of his hands, looking around until he spotted someone not too far off. It wasn't Sora or Kairi, that much he could tell. It was someone in a black coat.
Xehanort approached Riku, seeing more closely how he held the young woman. How had he not been aware that Riku cared for somebody? Regardless, he stopped by the two. "You two are not who I am after," he said to the one who was awake. "Stay here and no harm will come to either of you." He had no reason to go against his word; his main target was Roxas.

"That's rich," Riku said lowly, holding Lightning a little closer at the sight of Xehanort. "How can I trust you?" He couldn't, and that was exactly the point. Lightning could be in danger, even if Riku did stay. How was he to believe a word that left Xehanort's mouth?
"It is your only option," Xehanort stated simply. If Riku stayed, he would find out that Xehanort could be a man of his word if he wanted to be. But if Riku delayed him, then the young woman in his arms was going to suffer for it. Riku should have known by now that he had no chance against them the way things were at that moment.

Riku simply glared at Xehanort, not knowing how to reply. He wanted to say that Roxas would never give into the Organization, not after how he was treated in the past. But....Riku knew that wouldn't make a difference. Xehanort would go after Roxas anyway. Riku held Lightning in silence, his jaw flexing as he stared at Xehanort.
"Hmph," Xehanort hummed. He started past Riku, simply walking away from the Keyblade Master. "I suggest you do not test me. My kindness only extends to you staying here." If he got up and interfered with Xehanort's searching, there would be a problem. Besides, it wasn't much longer before the sleep charm wore off. Then there would be chaos.

Riku looked over his shoulder at Xehanort, but a second after, he lowered his head to be close to Lightning's. He closed his eyes and let his lips rest against her hair, the young man simply holding her to him. I'm sorry, he apologized silently. For leaving, for not saying goodbye... For not expressing my feelings when I really had the chance. Riku was upset that Lightning got dragged into the middle of this. But most of all, he was sorry that he was going to leave her, very soon.
Now would have been the time that Lightning should have woken. She should have come to, because the situation was too terrible for her to remain unconscious any longer. There was at least one villain lurking around the Islands, hunting for prey, and here she was asleep in Riku's arms. If she had an option, she would have awoken to put him out of his misery and worry. But she didn't. Couldn't.

Riku remained silent, holding Lightning in his arms for a few more minutes. But soon, he realized the biggest problem here, and that was Roxas. He set Lightning down gently, being extra careful with her head. "I'm sorry," Riku said softly. He had to leave her. "I'll come back for you."

While Riku had his moments with Lightning, Roxas wasn't so fortunate to have a relaxing moment of his own. When he stepped outside of the building, he was ambushed by somebody that he never met before but could identify easily. Ansem, Seeker of Darkness. How the man was alive was beyond Roxas, but he couldn't consider it now. The battle was intense thus far. Roxas jumped backwards to avoid the Guardian, stumbling on his feet when he landed. This was bad...

Kairi ran along the roads, thankfully not encountering any enemies. Until now. "Roxas!" she cried in alarm. He was fighting...Ansem! So it wasn't just Young Xehanort that was here... Ansem was too!

Roxas turned his head sharply, hearing a familiar female voice. But it wasn't the voice that he wanted to hear. "K-Kairi?!" he stuttered in surprise. The distraction proved to work against him, though, as Ansem's Guardian took another swing at him. He moved as quickly as he could, though he felt the demon's claws scratch his left cheek and draw blood. He winced, eyes angry and confused. What is going on here?!

Kairi summoned her blade to her immediately. There was some ground to cover, and the best way to do that would be through magic. "Thunder!" she cried, stabbing her Keyblade into the air. Ansem winced and his guardian cringed away from Roxas, which was when Kairi made her move. She sprinted toward Roxas, sending a fire spell when the Guardian started to recover. When Kairi reached Roxas, she took his hand. "Run!" She instantly led him away from the battleground, knowing he couldn't stay here. He had to leave, before it was too late.

Roxas grunted at Kairi's tugging, the teen instinctively not giving into it. "You can't just run away from these guys!" he scolded, setting his feet more firmly on the ground to stop Kairi's persistent leading. If they didn't fight Ansem, then he would force them into it somehow. Probably by hurting somebody. He wasn't exactly low on options, considering how many people were just lying on the ground...

"Right you are, Number Thirteen," Xehanort said, approaching from the direction that Kairi had been attempting to lead Roxas to. He noticed the blond look his way at the comment, and his confusion showed that he had absolutely no clue as to what was going on. Well, he would know soon enough.

Kairi released Roxas's hand at the sight of Young Xehanort. She held her Keyblade at the ready. "Roxas," she said softly. "You can't be here... You're in danger." And she was referring to more than what was going on here. Much more.

At the mention of himself being in danger, Roxas recalled something that Ansem said earlier. "There's somebody else who may be in danger," he said quietly to Kairi, his voice a bit hoarse from all the fighting. Nevertheless, he kept his voice low as he requested something of her. "Can you go check on Namine?" Ansem brought her up and implied that she could be in danger. Roxas couldn't go check on her, so that was why he was sending Kairi for him.

"Namine?" Kairi repeated softly. What did Namine have to do with anything? And why would she be in danger? She stared at Young Xehanort with hard eyes, confused. Was there more to this than they knew?

"I don't know for sure," Roxas said quietly, following Kairi's gaze to the man before them, who didn't seem to care that they were having conversation and not focusing on him. "But check, please..." He was surprised at his own desperation, but now most certainly was not the time to focus on it. "I can handle myself here." He was worn out and wounded, but he had fight left in him. He hated anybody who wore the same black cloak as the man in front of him.

Kairi hesitated, not sure whether she should stay or go. Roxas was the main target here, but Namine was in danger too. "Alright," she said. "Once I find her, I'm coming back. Stay focused."
