Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Point being that your heart is a victim to the Darkness if you don't stop hiding behind your shell," Riku said, putting it bluntly. "Been there, and it nearly killed me. I doubt that's a fate you rea

Riku's eyes scanned Lightning's body. "Well, I already know you have endurance, and by the looks of it, you've got some strength in you." His gaze returned to her face. "We wrestle." He smirked before lowering his arms, turning to go set up the mats. If she could beat him, then he would believe her about beating him in the race, even if stamina and strength were two different things.
Lightning followed Riku only with her eyes. Wrestling. Was he serious? Wrestling really wasn't something she was experienced with...But she was a quick thinker, flexible, and strong. She could somehow make this work. She could use her smallness to her advantage and come out on top. Fine. Let's do this.

Riku felt Lightning's gaze boring into his back, and it only made him smirk as he headed toward the black mats. He grabbed one and unfolded it, letting it fall flat onto the floor before grabbing another. He knew this was going to be interesting, so he might as well be prepared.
Lightning only watched, studying Riku. Yeah, he was strong. She could see it with the top that he wore today, but in general it was hard not to notice that he was well built. And attractive. She scoffed, furrowing her eyebrows. He wasn't the only one that was strong; she was too, both mentally and physically. She was ready for this.

Riku took a step onto the mats, and then lifted his gaze to the teen this match was for. He curled a finger at her. Come here, he silently beckoned. She wanted to prove she was fit, didn't she? It was time for her to show it.

Lightning unfolded her arms as she walked over to Riku, glancing at the rest of the gym out of the corner of her eye. It looked like one or two of the rookies stopped training since they noticed something else going on. She didn't really care; an audience wouldn't make a difference. She didn't get nervous easily.

Riku trailed Lightning with his eyes, noticing her stoic expression. He didn't show any signs of nervousness either, since he wasn't. He managed to adapt to defending himself without the Keyblade, something he didn't use much but could still work with. As for Lightning, he wasn't sure if she had anything up her sleeve to surprise him.
Lightning stepped onto the mats, aware that she was still wearing her normal boots, brown pants, and tan sleeveless coat. "Alright," she said, allowing her hands to casually dangle by her sides. Bring it on. She was going to do her best, and hopefully her best would be good enough to lower his ego a bit.

Riku stood casually, waiting. He motioned with his hand for Lightning to come at him, the young man patient as he looked at the smaller girl. He wouldn't use all of his strength; he wouldn't risk breaking or even spraining any of her limbs. He would just prove a point.
Lightning scoffed. No way was she going to be forced into going first. Normally it was good to go on the offensive right away, but she had no idea how strong her opponent was. She wanted to see what he was made of before she exhausted herself in an offensive movement that would likely fail. A slight smirk appeared on her lips as she lifted a hand and motioned for Riku to come at her instead.

"Hmph," Riku grunted with a small smirk, amused. If that was how Lightning wanted to play it... Riku scanned Lightning's posture, finding how she was balanced. Unfortunately for her, the opening was just too easy to spot. He ducked down and quickly kicked out, taking out the girl's feet from underneath her.
Lightning felt Riku sweep her legs out from underneath her, but fortunately for her, she was quick on and off of her feet. She arched her back so that instead of falling flat on her back, her hand caught her. She did a back flip with that one hand, landing smoothly on her feet and giving Riku a look of amusement. "That it?"

Riku returned to his feet, straightening. "That was just testing the waters," he said, somewhat impressed. Clearly Lightning was agile enough to pull the stunt she just did. Now he knew he didn't have to be entirely too easy on her. He closed the distance between them quickly, reaching for Lightning's arm in order to twist it around her back.
Lightning used her stealthiness to her advantage. She ducked past and around Riku's arm, coming up behind him and grabbing that arm. She pinned it behind him before she lifted a foot and pressed hard against his back to knock him down to the ground. She wasn't going to go easy on him, and hopefully he wouldn't do that with her either.

Riku grunted in surprise, landing on his stomach on the mat. He turned his face against the mat and smirked up at the girl who had him pinned. "Nice try," he muttered, lifting his free arm behind him to grab Lightning's jacket. He pulled her to the side and off him, ready to roll over when she hit the mat.

Lightning rolled over to the side of Riku, not keeping a hold of his pinned arm on purpose. If she yanked it the wrong way, it could have actually hurt him. She got off her stomach and knelt on the mats, one hand set down in order to keep her balanced and prepare her to move if she had to move. Riku's main advantage was definitely strength.

Riku did a front somersault to land in a crouched position. He looked at Lightning, studying her quickly before he moved in. He grabbed her back leg quickly and used his strength to throw it forward, that way she would roll.
Lightning grunted, victim to Riku's play yet again. This time, she stopped on her back, but she quickly rolled backwards and then rose completely to her feet. Her eyes were more serious than before. No more messing around. She went at Riku then, going for one of his hands as she tried to push him backwards to pin him on the mat.

Riku saw that he was going to get pushed backwards, and he rolled with it. Literally. When he was meant to stop on his back, he used the momentum to roll a little bit more, instead pinning Lightning to the mat. He gripped her hands and pushed them beside her head on the floor, looking down at her with focused aqua eyes. No way would she pin him that easily.
Lightning's eyes were widened faintly when her momentum was used against her, and she only tried for one second to worm her hands out of Riku's hold. It was futile. She thought about lifting up her legs and pressing her feet against Riku's chest to push him off of her, but he was sitting atop of her; she couldn't get her feet up. She lost.

Riku lowered his head slightly, eyes narrowing playfully as he looked at the girl below him. "You done?" he asked lowly, smiling ever so slightly. He had to admit, Lightning was quick. The short match was a bit of a challenge, but entertaining all the same.
Lightning scowled, though it wasn't a vicious scowl. It was more that she was irritated with herself than him. "You only won because I've never wrestled before," she said with certainty. She had experience with other things, like hand to hand combat and some sword fighting. But she was certain Riku would beat her at the latter as well.
  • Author
"Fair enough," Riku reasoned with a small nod. "Lucky for you, I'm in a good mood. I'm up for another challenge, if you have one." He lifted an eyebrow slightly as he looked down at the girl, still keeping her pinned. If Lightning had a challenge for him, he would accept it. Their little battles were entertaining enough. Another wouldn't hurt.
She did have another challenge, one that she would do better at. "Hand to hand combat," Lightning said, confident in her own abilities. Riku may have assumed she was just a runner since she was in the triathlon, but she was a confident fighter with the abilities that she knew. She was ready to put them to the test against this legendary Keyblade wielder.

Riku's eyebrows came together at that. Hand-to-hand combat? That was one of the last things he had been expecting. "...Okay," he said, unaware that there were multiple pairs of eyes on them at that moment; they had an audience from their small squabble a few minutes ago.
