Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Point being that your heart is a victim to the Darkness if you don't stop hiding behind your shell," Riku said, putting it bluntly. "Been there, and it nearly killed me. I doubt that's a fate you rea

Riku turned his head at the tug, glancing at Lightning before he followed her gaze to his inner demon. "Perfect," he mumbled lowly. He knew it was Ansem, but he was hoping they would have time for an escape. Riku stepped over, guarding Lightning with his body instinctively as Ansem got closer.

Lightning took a small step over, peeking around Riku to see the man and the demon that were coming closer. She noticed Riku didn't summon his weapon to his grasp and Ansem wasn't firing attacks almost immediately. That made her feel a bit worse. Physical wounds could heal, but sometimes words could cause worse hurts and never get better.

Ansem couldn't help but smirk as he gazed at the couple. The chemistry was definitely there, and now he truly recognized how attached Riku was to the girl. "Riku, you just can't resist the Darkness completely, now can you?" he said lowly. "You keep coming back."

Riku's teeth ground together. "I already told you," he replied. "I don't follow that path anymore. You know better than anyone how true that is." He kept his place in front of Lightning, fists tight. "My Darkness is used to protect what matters."

"Like the girl?" Ansem asked, amber eyes falling on the one who was partially hidden behind Riku. "Unfortunately, you may need to reconsider that thought."

Light furrowed her eyebrows, both at how Ansem was taunting Riku and his last statement. She wasn't sure what that was supposed to mean, but she wasn't about to ask either. Earlier, she learned not to humor Ansem. She set a hand on her arm where the Guardian touched her, though Ansem probably didn't notice since she was standing behind Riku.

Riku tensed at the words, not completely understanding. But the words were unsettling. What did Ansem do to Lightning?

"She is quite upset with you, Riku," Ansem declared, enjoying Riku's expression. The reaction was just what he wanted. "You left her, all alone, not even bothering with a goodbye."

Lightning froze, eyes locked onto Ansem. Well, he had promised to share whatever he discovered in her heart with Riku, and he had done just that. She couldn't even say that he was lying, because she truly was hurt when Riku left so suddenly. Kairi let her know Riku thought of her when he left, but...that goodbye wasn't alright in any way.

Riku glared at Ansem in fury, but also sadness. He refused to look at Lightning. He couldn't, not after hearing that. "I wasn't given a choice," Riku stated lowly. "Your 'Organization' was such an emergency that I had to leave immediately. Goodbyes weren't an option."

Lightning glanced down at the ground, thinking her own thoughts. She knew that if Riku left so suddenly and without a goodbye, things were serious. She understood, but...That didn't change how sad she was. She was forced to move out of his apartment all by herself so she could live with her new foster family. He wasn't there to help her with the transition or just...be there. He left her to face the press, Cecil Zimmerman, and life all by herself... It had been a rough two months without him.

Ansem only smiled. "I dived into the depths of her heart," he announced, hearing the grunt that left Riku instantly. "It will take more than your excuses to justify your actions."

Riku summoned his Keyblade immediately, getting into his stance. "You rotten!" he cursed the demon. Ansem got into Lightning's heart! That was far from okay!

Lightning was startled by Riku's fury, though she had seen it before with the bullies that faced her. This was different though, darker. The bullies back home taunted her and got inside her head, while Ansem got into her heart. Riku was absolutely right in his thinking; it was far from okay that Ansem was able to do that. This man--no, this demon, was extremely cruel. She ducked behind Riku a tad more, not wanting to see the pleased expression the man wore.

"How many times do I have to beat you before you get the hint?" Riku snarled, his body rigid with fury. He couldn't believe that Ansem got into Lightning's heart... It upset him more than he thought it would, not that he had ever pondered the option. Regardless, Riku wished it would have been the Guardian that got into him, not Lightning. "I don't belong to you anymore!"

"Perhaps you will not," Ansem said, then looking to the person who was hiding behind Riku. He could just barely see her feet. "But Lightning will." She was their thirteenth vessel. Between her and Roxas, she seemed more reliable.

Riku grunted, gritting his teeth. "Shut up!" he roared, then chucking his Keyblade at Ansem. The demon had his Guardian appear before him to block the blow, but Riku wasn't about to let Ansem get away with saying such things. With doing such things. He would pay for all he did to Lightning!

Lightning looked past Riku, seeing Ansem again because Riku moved slightly when he chucked his Keyblade. Perhaps she had been wrong in thinking she saw his fury before. This was a completely different level of anger. And he seemed to get most angry when Ansem mentioned her and hurting her, not when he made jabs at Riku. Since this was Riku's demon from the past...she was surprised that all the comments weren't setting him off to the same degree.

"Too simple," Ansem commented with a dark chuckle, amusement evident in his tone. He winced, however, when his Guardian disappeared from his protective role and he was suddenly hit by a Dark Firaga spell from Riku. He was forced back a few feet, but when he recovered, his eyes met the aquamarine of his past possession. "You imbecile!"

Riku only glared at Ansem, but when he saw him surround himself in a sphere of energy, he grunted. "Lightning," he said, taking a step back. "Lightning, go..." He nudged her with his arm to go around the corner, and that was when he started to panic. Ansem was coming right at them. "Go, go, go!"

Light grunted, Riku's panic obvious. Seeing him panic was never a good sign; he was always in control. And now he wasn't... She took a few steps in the direction Riku pointed out, ducking around that corner and seeing an empty hallway. That was great and all, but she wasn't about to leave here without Riku. He wouldn't...stay behind and fight, would he?

Riku turned around, but it was too late. Ansem struck him dead-on, and he went flying into the nearest wall, in the new hallway. He collapsed to the ground, grunting in pain. He reached for his Keyblade and glanced up to see where Ansem was. He was too reckless right now; Riku had to get Lightning out of here before she got hurt.

Light's eyes widened, seeing Riku take the blow. Not good, she thought, automatically rushing to his side as he laid on the ground. She stood to the side and slightly in front of him, proving that both of them were protective people. Even if he was the one with the weapon and not her, she still was willing to stand in front of him.

Riku looked up at Lightning, but that was when he saw a blur. Ansem was coming right for them. "Move!" Riku ordered, rolling to the side to avoid the new charge. He knew Lightning was quick on her feet; she could make it.
Light jumped to the other side of Ansem, opposite Riku. This was really, really bad. She felt utterly helpless against this creep, especially after what happened to her earlier. All that she wanted at that time was Riku. And now that he was here, he was having a hard time. She should have expected as much, but still...This was scarier than she originally thought it would be.

Riku rose to his feet and started running, seeing Ansem start to slow down. He ran past the man and grabbed Lightning's wrist as he passed her, pulling her with him. Time to go! Riku kept his grip on his Keyblade, having a feeling that he would be needing it very soon. His other hand, however, grasped Lightning's securely, tightly, as he ran with her. He couldn't lose her to his demon. Riku had nightmares about this!
Light grunted slightly when Riku tugged at her wrist while running, though she quickly followed his lead and began to run as well. First off, there was no way that she was going to stay close to Ansem. And secondly, she wasn't stupid enough to separate herself from Riku now. Outmatched or not, he was her only hope.

Riku sprinted through the hall, taking a sharp turn when the corridor ended. He glanced behind them, glad that they took the turn when they did; Ansem had sent Dark energy at them just then, and it burned the wall when they managed to dodge it. Riku wouldn't tell Lightning to not look back; she was smart enough not to anyway, or so he hoped. Looking back at Ansem would only slow her down, but not with Riku's grasp still around her wrist. She would be running at his speed the entire time.
Lightning only glanced at the wall, eyes widening when the magic burned against the wall. Did Riku have any plan at all on how to get rid of Ansem? She tried losing him before and it hadn't worked. With two of them and how they weren't being quiet anymore, she didn't think there was any hope of avoiding him permanently.

Riku continued running, his senses bein overwhelmed with the amount of Darkness that was present. It meant Ansem was close. Riku swung his Keyblade behind him, sending a strong fire spell at Ansem as they ran. He led the way, pleased to hear Ansem's cry of pain. Can't stop now, he realized. He fired another spell, this one with mines. He heard them start exploding when Ansem got over them, and he was sure that would create enough of a diversion to get them away from Ansem. Or so he hoped.
Light foolishly glanced behind them at the loud explosions, seeing the attacks like mines go off. Her running slowed half a step at that, but that wasn't the worst part of it. Like a klutz, she tripped when they ran down a ramp, feeling her knees skid against it roughly even if she was wearing jeans. How could she fall at a time like this?!
  • Author
Riku stumbled a little when Lightning fell, and when he turned around to go back for her, he was suddenly hit in the chest. He cried out, landing a few feet down the ramp and on level ground. He winced, pushing himself up a little only to see the Guardian behind Lightning. "No!" he cried in fear, eyes widening as the beast reached for the girl's arm. The Guardian!
