Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Point being that your heart is a victim to the Darkness if you don't stop hiding behind your shell," Riku said, putting it bluntly. "Been there, and it nearly killed me. I doubt that's a fate you rea

Light moved her hand off Riku's shoulder, to the back of his head instead as she gave it a small whack. He could have dropped in just to let her know that he was alive. Granted, he would have dealt with her anger on all these issues too, but she would have been in the same state she was in now. More glad that he was okay than angry at him.

Riku closed his eyes at the whack, and if Lightning thought that would push him away, she was wrong. He only held her more tightly, his fingers curling into her hair a little, his other hand pressing into her upper back. "I'm so sorry, Light," he whispered. He wished he could have done things differently, but....he didn't have the option. He was stuck asleep for a while, and then he had Master duties to attend to. And then there was training Sora to resist the Darkness...
Light slowly lowered her hand, allowing it to dangle as her arm rested on Riku's shoulder. He was sorry; she knew that he meant that. He wasn't the type of person to throw those words around just to make a person happy. As if she could be considered happy right now. She was such a mess, tears flowing from her eyes and almost all her body weight being supported by Riku because of the fatigue. What a disastrous reunion this was...

Riku continued to hold Lightning, supporting her weight. It wasn't that hard since she was so lightweight, but the fact that she was so worn out because of the Guardian instantly angered him. Riku glanced over at the fire. "Come sit with me?" he requested gently. He wanted her beside him. He needed to make up for lost time.
Lightning kept her face in Riku's shoulder, remembering how similar this was to the Ashe situation. He asked for her to sit at dinner with him. He didn't tell her to; he asked her to. He risked her turning away his chance at forgiveness and reconciliation. But he was also putting his faith in her by asking--he knew that if she didn't hate him, she would accept his offer. And because she felt so much towards him that was the opposite of hatred, she nodded faintly against him. She would sit with him.

Riku squeezed Lightning at her small nod. He couldn't help himself; it was just a natural reaction to her acceptance. She wasn't only accepting his offer; she was accepting him. He pulled back a little and kept one arm around Lightning, then guiding her toward the fireplace where they sat down. The rug they were on was warm enough to help dry them off, but the fire would do more of that.
Light sat down next to Riku, legs laid out beside her as she leaned into him. On any other day, this would have been a very romantic position. The reason that she was in it now though was because not only was she tired, but she did deeply miss Riku. Even if she had to use her tiredness for a reason to lean into him like this, it was okay.

Riku kept an arm around Lightning, sitting with one leg propped up and the other arm resting on that knee. He was okay with this, which wasn't really a surprise. Lightning had known for a long time that he had feelings for her. He liked to believe that she felt the same. Not right now, obviously, since she was upset with him, but as a whole? He was hopeful.
Lightning wrapped an arm lightly over Riku's stomach, her eyes falling shut as she rested her head against his shoulder. This wouldn't be a good position for the enemy to catch them in, but if Riku believed they were safe here, then that was probably the case. And to her, despite all that happened, the safest place for her to be was Riku's arms. She blinked slowly and tiredly, gazing across the room to a corner that was still dark despite the firelight.

Riku felt Lightning come closer, and the knowledge helped him to relax a little bit more. She was here, she was close, and she was safe. For two months he couldn't stop thinking about her, and when he found out she was in danger, he had been terrified. Riku had only been that scared when Sora or Kairi was in danger in the past, but...it somehow surpassed that.
Lightning slowly shifted her gazeto the fire instead. She was really tired physically, but not mentally. Her mind was still rearing at everything that happened today and how it ended up. She just yelled at Riku, yet she was lying in his arms now. Whether he abandoned her or not, she still missed him. Would she be separated from him again soon though? As pathetic as it sounded, she didn't think she could go through that again.

Riku wasn't sure what to say to Lightning, only concerned with the fact that she was here, she was drying off, and that she was going to be okay. He was going to be okay too, because he wasn't going to leave her again. Sheesh, you're acting like you love her, he thought, but then he stiffened slightly. Love... He never even considered the possibility. He hadn't even kissed Lightning yet! How could he love her?
What about Serah, though? Lightning woke up a little at the thought, realizing that she hadn't thought of her little sister since this whole ordeal began. It had been hours since she was at home, so Serah was probably worrying about her. But it was impossible to get home anyway, so she couldn't really worry about it now. Unlike Riku, she'd get a message to her loved one quickly to tell her that she was alright.

Riku looked down at Lightning, lifting his arm from his knee and brushing her hair away from her face. It wasn't as wet as it was before, which was good. But...he couldn't ignore his thoughts. His feelings for Lightning were strong, that much he knew. But love? It seemed a little far-fetched...
Lightning's eyelids flickered shut as Riku's fingertips stroked over her cheek, her body still leaning against his in weakness and tiredness. Yet her anger proved earlier that she was still strong enough to fight back against anything she didn't approve of. The fact that she wasn't fighting this showed that she wasn't against it. In fact, not a single ounce of her protested it.

Riku's fingertips danced over Lightning's skin, and it was then that he could tell that she wasn't crying anymore. "...No more crying," he told her quietly. He hated seeing her cry. It broke his heart. Did she know that? The look on his face a few minutes ago should have alerted her to his hurt at the sight of her tears.
Lightning nodded faintly to Riku, peeking her eyes open again. She hadn't realized it until Riku said it, but he was right: she wasn't crying anymore. When had the tears stopped flowing? She had been crying when they were standing; she specifically recalled her tears going into his wet shoulder. But when they sat down and he wrapped his arm around her...she stopped, and the fire dried up whatever tears she cried before. She believed she knew the reason she stopped; it was the same reason she began. Riku.

Riku kept his gaze on Lightning, simply because there was nothing else interesting to look at. There were no other girls on the Islands that interested him either. They tried, but they failed miserably compared to Lightning. She was one of a kind, just like the necklace he gave her. He noticed she was wearing it earlier, and it was flattering that she kept it on all this time. Did she ever leave without it?
Feeling Riku's strong eyes on her, Lightning tilted her head and looked up at him as well. His hair had grown a bit in the past two months, but so had hers. But she was still Lightning and he was still Riku. For now, that was the only thing that mattered. Not this Organization, not Riku's demon, not their soaking-wet clothes. Nothing.

Riku lifted his hand again, cupping Lightning's face and running his thumb over her smooth skin. He gazed at her in silence, not turning away at the fact that she was looking back. He hoped she knew that he was going to protect her now, with his life, with the Keyblade. He would never abandon her again, especially now.

Light kept her eyes on him, fighting her tiredness and how the soft stroking was encouraging her to give into it. Instead, she kept her blue eyes locked to Riku's aqua ones. "...No more scaring me," she said quietly. A few minutes ago, he told her not to cry anymore. And now she was requesting something of him too. ...If he left her, he wasn't allowed to stay away so long anymore. He couldn't scare her by not letting her know that he was okay.

Riku shook his head, agreeing to the order. "Never again," he told her lowly. He wouldn't leave Lightning alone for so long again, nor would he leave without somehow letting her know he was alright. He didn't plan on being separated again, but...he couldn't really make any promises pertaining to that.
Lightning's eyes continued to be locked onto Riku's. She didn't know what else to say to him. But...She suddenly felt like kissing him. She had thought about it in the past, and obviously he had too. They ended up in quite a few situations where they nearly kissed, but they never followed through. Over the past two months, she grew to wish they did, at least once. Now they could fix that mistake, but...

Riku saw Lightning's eyes dancing in the firelight, and it nearly took his breath away. He never thought he would turn into Sora and start being a sap, but Lightning changed him. Sometimes, he liked to think for the better. His hand still cupping her cheek, Riku had the same thoughts as Lightning, suddenly having the urge to kiss her. He leaned forward slowly, prepared to finally declare his feelings through the most important physical action.
Lightning chased her thoughts of doubt away when Riku seemed to be thinking the same thoughts as her. If he felt the same, then it was alright to kiss here and now. She was easily willing to follow Riku's lead. Her eyes closed halfway as she leaned towards him as well, her gaze resting on his lips. This was really happening this time, right? This wasn't just a dream...
