Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku was about to close his eyes when he saw Lightning leaning towards him. But that was when he sensed movement out of the corner of his eye. He snapped out of his stupor and pulled Lightning close, both of his arms wrapping around her as he looked to a dark corner of the room. The Guardian...
Lightning's eyes shot open when Riku suddenly pulled her close into his chest and embraced her instead of kissing her. This wasn't a normal embrace, either; she could feel the tension in his arms. It was like he was bracing for something. She squeezed her eyes shut, grasping at his shirt automatically with the hand over his stomach. Who was with them? Was it him?

Riku's heartbeat picked up considerably, ducking his head closer to Lightning's in anticipation. He was ready for whatever the Guardian was going to do, but he wasn't going to leave Lightning's side. He was her protector now. When nothing happened, his alarmed eyes went to the corner of the room. He thought...he thought he saw the Guardian.
After a few moments, Lightning dared to open her eyes. Her heart was beating like a drum, and if she had been against Riku's other side, she would have felt his going in the same manner. Nothing was happening...no noises were being made except the cackling of the fire... Was there really somebody else in the room with them?

Riku cursed under his breath, closing his eyes in both relief and anger. He was grateful that nobody was in the room with them, but at the same time, he was frustrated with himself. He ruined a perfectly good moment with his own fear, and that moment wouldn't happen again. Riku kept his arms around Lightning, though his hold started to loosen. Idiot.
Light heard a ragged breath leave her lips, her hold on Riku not relaxing even if his was. So...It had been a false alarm after all. Nobody had been spying on them. That was good; the last thing that they needed was another attack tonight. She curled up even closer to Riku than before, allowing her face to be hidden. That gave her a real fright.

Riku kept one hand on the back of Lightning's head, the other running down her back. "It's okay," he said with a small breath. It was just his imagination. This had happened in the past, when he was all alone and being taunted by Ansem. He was stronger than this...
Light hummed faintly, slowly loosening her grasp on Riku's shirt. It was good that it was alright; very good. But it was sad that it even had to occur this way. They had been so close...But perhaps this was a way of saying they weren't meant to kiss right now. With this whole crisis, now probably wasn't the time... She slowly relaxed into Riku's body, forcing herself to accept that fact.

Even if the threat was nonexistant, Riku kept his arms around Lightning, keeping her close. He wasn't sure how long they would stay here, but...it had to be enough for Lightning to recover her strength. Riku couldn't carry her everywhere; he needed his hands free to protect her. So, he guessed they would just wait until she was ready.
"...Idiot," Lightning commented softly after her heart beat began to slow down. "I thought you promised not to scare me again." He definitely just scared her now, though in a new way. When she looked into a dark corner earlier, she hadn't even thought about somebody lurking in the shadows here. Apparently Riku not only thought of it, but thought it was true. If somebody had really been there, she had no clue what she would have done.

"Sorry," Riku mumbled, his eyes turning to the fire again. He didn't meant to, honestly. It was just his fears taking control of his senses. Ever since he found out Lightning was captured, he had been so on edge. It wasn't...normal for him. He was always calm and collected Riku.
Lightning nodded faintly, slowly turning her face out of Riku's chest to look at the fire as well. The dull cackling was soothing, even if it took her a long time to be relaxed again. What a mess, she thought for the hundredth time. Nevertheless, her body began to weaken in Riku's arms again over time. Soon she'd pass out on him. Hopefully when she awoke, she'd be less weak.

Riku let his hand run over Lightning's back in a soothing manner, finally feeling her body relax after a few minutes. He didn't mean to frighten her, but...he just wanted to make sure that they were truly alone. When Lightning fell asleep, he would search the lobby to make sure nobody was in here with them, specifically Ansem or the other remnants. It would be safer for Lightning that way.
Light slowly nodded off, her entire body unfolding a little more again. But she still stayed close to Riku and kept her head by his. Once she was finally asleep, she began to regain some of the energy that the Guardian had taken away from her earlier without her knowledge. But she also began to regain some peace and security in Riku's arms.

Once Lightning was asleep, Riku turned his head to look down at her. He leaned forward, placing a gentle kiss to her pink hair. If he couldn't give her a true kiss, he could at least do this. I'm sorry, he apologized for the umpteenth time that night. He would make this up to her, somehow. Riku would make sure the place was secure in the meantime. He couldn't have anyone taking away Lightning's peace.
Amazingly, despite their extra time in the castle, Roxas and Namine didn't run into any enemies. It helped that when Riku was running away from Ansem, he attracted others in that direction of the castle. But most importantly, it helped that Roxas knew his way around the castle. "C'mon," he whispered to Namine, motioning for her to follow him. They were right by the entrance now, so it was time to get out of here. He had no clue where his other friends were, but he and Namine couldn't linger here much longer waiting without getting caught.

Namine didn't hesitate following Roxas, her feet moving automatically. She felt...awful. She was defenseless, helpless, and such a burden. While she and Roxas had gotten close over the past few months, she realized that he probably didn't want to protect her. Why would he? She wasn't anyone special.
Roxas kept his footsteps quiet--common sense told him to do that, not experience. After all, he forsook the life of a Keyblade wielder a long time ago. He only used the Keyblade when it was convenient for him. But it was going to prove useful today, because right at the exit, Roxas noticed a man with spiky silver hair and black coat. Granted, a few members of the Organization could fit that description. But Roxas would never mistake the figure in front of the door for anyone else. That was Xemnas. There's no way around him, he realized, pausing by some boxes and trusting Namine to do the same. Roxas would have to fight him.

Namine saw the man near the entrance and bit her lip, stopping next to Roxas. She never met Xemnas personally, but she heard a lot about him through Marluxia and Larxene in Castle Oblivion. She glanced over at Roxas, her eyes pleading. Don't fight him, please... What if Roxas got hurt?
Roxas only briefly glanced over at Namine, not taking in her expression. He knew it was bad, so he didn't want to see it. That would hurt him. He glanced around, seeing a few other things that could block her from Xemnas's sight. "I'm going to try to knock him out of the way quickly," he said quietly to the blonde beside him. "Try to get closer to the door when he's not looking. Stay hidden." They didn't know that Namine was here; that could work in their advantage. That way, Roxas could focus on fighting and not defending.

Namine nodded a little. "Okay," she said. There were various objects that she could hide behind. Hopefully this plan worked. But...when she was closer to the door, what would she do? Leave Roxas? No...I couldn't. She couldn't leave him behind.

Roxas nodded slightly to Namine. Instead of summoning his Keyblades right away, he just walked out into the open, directly towards Xemnas. The man had to have seen him by now, so Roxas wasn't going to waste his time jumping from obstacle to obstacle. It was best to face this problem head on.

Xemnas smirked, pleasantly surprised. "Here I thought you were going to run away," he said to the blond that was approaching him. He was bold not to do it with weapon in hand, but then again, Xemnas didn't have his weapons yet either. This was a sweet reunion, at least for him.

"Not this time," Roxas declared. He couldn't run, whether he wanted to or not. This wasn't all about him; Namine was here too. If he couldn't escape, then Namine had to at least. He'd make sure of it.

Namine stayed where she was, not moving just yet. Xemnas wasn't completely distracted yet, so she couldn't move. If she did, he would spot her...and then Namine wasn't sure what would happen. Probably something bad. No, she was sure it would be something bad.

Xemnas chuckled, seeing the blond give him the same angry look that Sora did in the past. "So you've finally accepted that you can never escape the life you were born into?" he asked, seeing Roxas's glare intensify. "The Keyblade is not something you can shed, nor is your connection to Sora. But you can shed your fate to be a hero. I know a path you can take to break you free of that fate."

Roxas tried to hide it, but Xemnas pigued his interest. Yes, Xemnas was an evil man always looking out for his own selfish purposes. He was cruel, cunning, and strong. But he was also right in a few aspects. "...What makes you think I'd listen to a word you have to say?" he asked, though his hesitation and tone gave him away.

Xemnas's lips turned up in a small smirk. "You don't want to be the hero?" he asked, though it was really a statement. He and Roxas both knew that it was the truth. "Become the villain instead." That would break him of his ties. As Sora's Nobody, he may have originally been destined to be a great hero. But Xemnas could change that. Roxas could change that.

No, Roxas, Namine wanted to say. But she couldn't, not without giving herself away. Roxas couldn't become part of the Organization again! He was better than this! He knew he was, and all he had to do was remember his past... The past with her, where she knew him. He was kind, and caring. He wasn't evil.
