Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Roxas's lips turned up in a slight smile. "Guess you caught me," he said with a small shrug. "You know my deepest desire and how to fulfill it. But what makes you think I haven't adopted Sora's attitude when it comes to the worlds? What makes you think I don't care about them?"

"No matter how much you care for them," Xemnas stated, his lips still curled in a knowing smile, "You care for yourself so much more, Number Thirteen. Even now we talk of you and your desires, and you humor me. You care not for the worlds around you, or the people around you. After all, you were never able to develop your own heart years ago."

Roxas blinked. That was...a lie. He knew it was! He had a heart just as much as the next person did. He felt happiness, sorrow, and pain. But...part of what Xemnas said was true. Roxas was thinking about himself again and who he was. ...I'm so selfish. How is it that I'm Sora's Nobody? I'm nothing like him.

Namine neglected Roxas's words of advice from only a few moments ago, instead pressing her back to the nearest wall to stay out of sight and steady herself. Roxas was...yearning to be a villain? No, he couldn't be. The Roxas she had come to know over the past few months was sweet, funny, and charming. He would never do the worlds harm.

Xemnas smirked, outstretching a hand towards the blond teen. "Come," he said. "We shall go together." He kept his golden eyes on the blond, noticing his blue eyes go to his hand and then back up. Finally, he began to approach. Good. He knew some ounce of loyalty remained.

Roxas approached his former superior, eyes resolute. Xemnas may have thought he was approaching for one reason, but Roxas had a completely different motive. When he was close enough, he summoned both Oblivion and Oathkeeper to his hands, swinging them both at Xemnas so roughly the man didn't have time to respond. Roxas heard his scream but didn't flinch as he was sent flying back into the abyss. He may have been selfish, but that didn't make him a villain.

Namine gasped at the scream, stiffening naturally from the sound. It wasn't Roxas... It had to be Xemnas. So...what did Roxas do? He surely didn't kill him. Even if she didn't know Xemnas too well, she knew he would't go down that easily. Namine peeked around the corner, her eyes finding Roxas...and Xemnas nowhere in sight.

Roxas stared down at the abyss, blond hair shifting over his angry blue eyes. "Being selfish doesn't make me a bad person," he declared quietly so that he was the only person who could hear it. Or so he thought until he got a response.

"Wrong." Xemnas reappeared inside the building, shooting a ton of lasers at Roxas's side. Roxas was so much like Sora, letting his guard down when he thought the fight was over. The fight was never going to be over, not until the Organization was victorious. He witnessed the bullet-like lasers hit Roxas multiple times, hearing the blond cry out a few times, some times more loudly than others because of where they hit. The barrage lasted for a good minute before it stopped and Roxas fell to his hands and knees.

Namine remained where she was, though her eyes were wide in fright, one hand covering her mouth. Roxas, she thought in sorrow. He was badly wounded...and there was nothing she could do to help him. Not a thing, not without a weapon. But...even if she did have a weapon, she wouldn't know how to use it. Xemnas would only hurt her worse...

"I had a feeling you would lash out against me," Xemnas said to the blond, approaching him casually as he tried to regain his composure yet failed. "It's a shame that you hold no loyalty to us. Because of that, we'll have to involve somebody else."

Roxas looked up through pained eyes. "What?" he panted. Somebody else? Surely Xemnas didn't know that Namine was here. It was impossible. He made sure she was hidden; he made sure no member of the Organization laid their eyes on her for even a second...

Xemnas smirked. "Were you not warned previously that somebody else could be needed in our scheming?" he asked. "Back on the Islands when you were attacked, Ansem said that unless you cooperated, we would require another being. Or rather, another Nobody." He noticed Roxas's eyes narrow viciously. "That's correct, Number Thirteen. I'm not afraid to bring Namine into this and use her against you." That was their intent all along. "But you already knew that, didn't you?"

Namine turned, pressing herself against the wall again. "Me?" she whispered hoarsely. How could she be of use to the Organization this time? And how come Roxas knew this but didn't tell her?! He should have warned her so she could do something! But...what could she do?
"I don't know what she has to do with this," Roxas grunted, picking up Oathkeeper and stabbing it into the ground as he began to rise to his feet. "I don't know why you'd specifically want to use her against me." He swayed on his feet yet balanced quickly enough to ignore his wounds and glare at Xemnas. "But ever since you implied that, I promised something. I swore I'd protect her from creeps like you, and I will!" He grabbed the hilt with both hands, in a ready stance to attack. He couldn't be defeated. He had a promise to keep.

Namine closed her eyes at the outcry, not sure what to think. Instantly, memories of Twilight Town appeared in her mind. How DiZ took her through a portal and Roxas was defensive of her. It was the same now, just under different circumstances. Was that why he was so nice to her since they left the Islands? He was trying to keep his promise?

"Oh," Xemnas mocked with a smirk. "You do have a heart. You're falling right in line with your fate though. Falling in love with Kairi's Nobody. Are you certain you don't want to defy that fate?" He had a chance; Xemnas's offer was still open.

Roxas had no problem coming up with his response. "I've never been more sure of anything in my life." This promise he made to protect Namine...It just felt right. As for the falling in love part of it...He'd worry about it another day. He gritted his teeth and pointed his Keyblade at Xemnas, though he then collapsed to his knees in pain. No...He couldn't give up now! Namine was depending on him!

Love....Namine thought in shock. Xemnas said that Roxas was falling in love with her, Kairi's Nobody. No, that couldn't be true. Roxas never showed any signs of that; they were only friends! Unless he was careful with his actions towards her... No, she thought, shutting her eyes tightly. No, that can't be right. Roxas couldn't love her...

Xemnas stopped right in front of Roxas, both hands having lasers extended from them now. "Foolish Nobody," he said lowly. "If I were to threaten her, what then? Would you give into our desires if I threatened to slit her throat?" His eyes widened when Roxas suddenly sprang to life, the Keyblade stabbing through his right breast.

"You. Shut. Up." Roxas panted, glaring at Xemnas as he had one knee on the ground and his other foot down. This was a crucial blow, which Xemnas showed by not speaking further or moving. He glanced over in Namine's direction, silently telling her to come on. They had to get out of here...

Namine automatically lifted her hand to her throat, grasping it in fear. But when there was silence after Roxas spoke, she peeked around the corner again. That was when her fearful eyes locked onto Roxas's. His eyes were encouraging her to move away from the wall and make a run for it, and she didn't hesitate doing what he said. Despite what was just revealed about him, she trusted him. Namine left the wall and starting moving toward the entrance, staying near the obstacles in case she needed to hide again.
Roxas noticed Xemnas look over and see Namine, and that was when he roughly pulled his weapon out of Xemnas's chest. He kicked the man roughly in the chest and knocked him back, though his body screamed in protest. But he couldn't be completely selfish now...Not with her here. "C'mon, hurry!" he cried to Namine. Xemnas would fade away into a portal and summon others. He knew it.

Namine forgot about staying hidden, running her fastest toward the exit. She briefly glanced at Xemnas before focusing on Roxas. Where were they going once they got outside the castle? Did Roxas even know? Namine saw Roxas's wounds for the first time and felt herself become more fearful for his sake. Don't push yourself for me, she silently begged of him. I'm not worth it.
When Namine ran right to him, Roxas glanced at her and then at the glowing path. When he heard a roar of fury, he acted instinctively. "Sorry," he said, quickly shoving her down the path as he lifted a Keyblade and blocked two weapons. He grunted at the pressure, looking past the weapons and seeing a very wounded Xemnas. His pride got the better of him; he didn't want to return in defeat.

Namine shrieked in fright when Roxas pushed her onto the glowing path, and she had to fight to keep her balance as she was sent down the beam. Don't fall. Don't fall, she kept telling herself. If she did, she would die.
Roxas looked over at Namine at the shriek, which was a mistake. He grunted when he felt Xemnas's weapon impact his side and knock him onto his side and onto the path. He lost his grip on the Keyblade during that time, not that it ended up mattering. Xemnas just stood at the top and watched him and Namine slide down the path, too wounded to pursue them.

Namine managed to make it to the end of the path and onto the concrete of the city, but she stumbled onto it and fell down. She luckily caught herself with her hands, staring at the ground as she fought to catch her breath. Roxas... Why did he push her like that? She hadn't seen what happened afterward, having only heard the angry roar beforehand. Was he okay?
Roxas stopped near the end, not colliding with Namine thankfully. He winced and grabbed the side that was hurt just now, though he had plenty more wounds than just that one. He was wishing now that he kept up working with the Keyblade; he was feeling pretty pathetic now. The promise he made to protect Namine was going to be a hard one to keep.

Namine turned her head, her long blonde hair falling over her shoulder. "Roxas," she said softly. He was...terribly wounded. Didn't he have potions or anything on him? Didn't he know the Cure spell? If not...she wasn't sure she could do anything to help. She was a witch, only holding power over memories. She couldn't cure anybody.
Roxas was facing away from Namine, so he glanced at her briefly over his shoulder before he looked back up at the castle. No sign of Xemnas, but Roxas was pretty sure he and Namine wouldn't be pursued. Not right away. "I doubt the ship is still there," he said, beginning to force himself to his feet as he summoned Oblivion back to his grasp. "But we need to check." If it was there, they'd use it to leave the world. He knew that was what the others would want, especially since Roxas was a huge target. And now, Namine was too.

Namine nodded a little, not that Roxas could see that. She pushed herself to her feet, looking down to see that her hands were scraped. But that was nothing compared to Roxas's injuries. She whiped some of her hair out of her face as she looked to her friend, wondering what exactly he had in mind. Wasn't the ship parked near the castle?
Roxas hissed softly at his wounds, though he allowed a Cure spell to wash over his body. At least that took away the pain. It didn't do anything for the exhaustion, but he would have to deal with that. He briefly glanced at Namine and then started in the direction of the ship. He noticed how he could hardly look at her for long periods of time lately, but now wasn't the time to address it. He had to get both of them to safety.
