Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Lightning sank down to her knees as she gripped her head firmly, though she peeked her eyes open and saw Riku standing right in front of her. But the world was spinning. It was great her weapon didn't kill her mother, but that was just it. Her mother was still killed! Not just dead, but murdered! She looked past Riku, though she could barely see Cedric because Riku was that close to her and that in her path. It was down to this? This was real?

"Try that again," Riku growled lowly, speaking over the rain as he glared at Cedric. "I dare you." Riku wasn't going to let Lightning get hurt. Even if this was her father, he wasn't even close to behaving like it. No father would kill his wife and leave his children to face hardship, nor would he fake his death because of some dark plan. Riku heard Cedric chuckle before he did fire off bullets, and Riku was forced to twirl his Keyblade to block them, not moving from his spot. He wouldn't stop protecting Lightning, just like he promised.
Lightning listened to the bullets be fired off and deflected, seeing one of them drop down by Riku's side. She winced and slowly lowered her hands, staring at it blankly. That bullet was from her gun. Even if her father gave it to her, she considered it hers. And she worked on that weapon for a specific reason. This wasn't it. "Stop it!" she cried, looking past Riku to her father. Stop using my weapon for this! This weapon was supposed to protect, not destroy.

Riku was surprised when Cedric actually listened, and he swung his Keyblade out to his side once he was done twirling it, his grasp still tight. He wouldn't let Cedric get away with that threat, but clearly Lightning had something else in mind. Whatever it was, he hoped she wasn't reckless. Cedric clearly had no boundaries.
Lightning slowly rose to her feet, though she felt as weak as she did earlier after the experience with the Guardian. She still found the energy to stand behind Riku and slightly to the side, half-glaring at her father. She couldn't glare at him completely, not yet. She looked up to him for so many years, but... "I won't have my weapon used for that," she declared to Cedric. He wouldn't use it to shoot at Riku.

Cedric lifted an eyebrow, glad to see that the rain had lightened up so he could see his daughter's face clearly. "Your weapon?" he repeated in shock. "I'm afraid you're confused, Claire. The weapon is of my own model. Therefore, it belongs to me. You were just the mechanic." She fixed it, but that was it.

Lightning stepped forward, walking next to Riku and then past him. "I made it mine," she said simply. It was his model and his design, but she put the work into it. And it was given to her as a gift. Therefore, she was going to call it her own. And she wanted it back...out of his hands, so that he couldn't shoot at Riku again.

Riku glanced over at Lightning, his grasp on his Keyblade tight as he stayed on the defensive. He had to be cautious, especially when Lightning was taking a risk at going at her father. Both physically and verbally. She was talking back, and this could have multiple outcomes. Riku doubted any were too great.

Cedric laughed, shaking his head. "Claire, you certainly do have my stubborness," he admitted with a humored smile. "However, it will cost you. If I have to resist you, I will. This weapon does not belong to you, nor will it ever. Step aside."

Lightning stopped halfway between Riku and her father, staring at the weapon for a second. He was right; she really couldn't do anything to get the weapon back. She wasn't about to ask Riku to steal it for her. This was a battle that she sort of wanted to fight. Just "sort of", because an hour ago, she never would have wanted to fight her father. And now that she was staring into his eyes, they weren't the eyes she remembered. They were ice cold. But even if he told her to step aside, she wouldn't. She'd stand in front of Riku...as a shield. They'd have to hurt her to get to him, and they couldn't have her getting too hurt when they had purposes set aside for her.

Riku saw that this was a stare-down between father and daughter, but he also noticed that Lightning was defying Cedric's order. She was standing her ground...in front of him. "Lightning..." he said softly. What was she doing? He could handle this...

Lightning didn't turn around and look at Riku--she didn't want to see his expression, and she didn't want him seeing hers. Something snapped in her eyes since she heard the truth about her mother. So instead of focusing on him, she just stared at her father. "You want him, you need to go through me," she declared quietly. "And you can't do that. You can't have your vessel being broken..." She was correct, wasn't she?

Cedric was surprised by this, and it showed by his expression. "Sweetheart, don't be ridiculous," he said. He motioned for her to move with his gun. "Get out of the way so Daddy can finish his job." He had to get rid of Riku, so then Lightning could go with him to see Xehanort. It was time she carried some of his heart...and not Riku's.

Lightning only furrowed her eyebrows. That was the only reaction she had to her father's orders. So, she was right then. He wouldn't shoot her to get to Riku. Her survival was more important than his demise. That was why she held her ground. There was no turning back now. She made her choice, and her choice was to stay in her father's path.

Riku could only stare in shock...but also in pride. Lightning was tough, and he was glad to see that what happened recently with Ansem didn't change that about her. But the fact that she was risking her life for him? He should have expected that, but it still took him by surprise.

"I believe it's time we separate the lovebirds," Jihl said, walking down the path that Riku and Lightning had originally come down. She stood for all to see, holding a weapon in her hand as she caught Lightning's attention. "Nobody said that she had to be conscious when we brought her to Xehanort." She smirked at the girl bitterly, her expression showing as much since her hood was down. This was the girl that Xehanort wanted? What was so special about her?

Riku faced the woman completely, Keyblade at the ready. "Terrific," he mumbled. This was turning into quite the party, but Riku was aware of the fact that he wasn't invited. It was only this woman, Cedric, and Lightning who belonged. But Riku wouldn't let it stay that way. He was here to protect Lightning. He was her guardian.

Jihl noticed Lightning take a few steps closer to Riku and snickered. "You can't shield him now," she said, noticing the girl pause and send her a glare as Jihl looked to Riku as she spoke of him. "I'm not in such a talkative mood, though I hope your Keyblade Master is. I'll want a word with him in private." She wanted information from him about Lightning, and he would give it to her. Though she was a young woman--only a few years older than Lightning and Riku--she was one of Xehanort's vessels. That should have made her a clear threat.

"Don't count on it," Riku snapped lowly, able to see this woman clearly since the rain stopped pouring. She was not too much older than he was, but clearly looked like a witch. No wonder Xehanort chose her. Whatever Jihl wanted with him, she would have to force it out. He wouldn't say a thing.

"It's a shame," Jihl said, motioning to Lightning with her baton as her gaze rested on Riku. "I had hoped you'd be eager to brag about your beloved and tell me how we can best make use of her." She glanced at Cedric out of the corner of her eye. "After all, Daddy was only able to tell so much from a distance." She could practically feel the hurt radiating off Lightning at the reminder of the truth, though she didn't care about Lightning's feelings.

Riku ground his teeth together. "You'll have to beat it out of me," he growled. "And even then I won't talk." He wasn't about to give Lightning up to anyone. As far as the word "beloved," he would let that slide for now; worrying about it later seemed like the best choice.

Jihl only smiled. "I prefer it that way." If she had to put Riku through a severe beating in order to get information, that was perfectly alright. He was only a hassle to them now that he couldn't be Xehanort's vessel. But at her threat, Jihl noticed Lightning stand between her and Riku, though she stood closer to Riku than to Jihl. She laughed at the young girl with the stubborn expression. "Fool. I don't care if Xehanort wanted you undamaged. As long as I take you to him alive, he'll forgive the damage I do." Jihl would hurt her. Badly.

Riku put a hand on Lightning's shoulder and stepped up to be side by side with her, though he watched Cedric out of the corner of his eye. "There's one thing you're forgetting," he said then. "I made a promise, and I intend to keep it." That promise was to protect Lightning...and he would do it any way he knew how. Riku moved his hand from Lightning's shoulder to her wrist, waiting only a second before he pulled her out of the way. It was then that a gun went off, and Riku put up a shield with one hand, the other firing off spells at Jihl. Two on one... It wasn't fair, but he would take it anyway.

Lightning grunted when her back hit a wall, and she struggled to keep herself on her feet even propping herself up against it to keep whatever balance remained. Her breath hitched in fear, her eyes stuck on Riku as she noticed Jihl twirl her baton and skillfully deflect the spells back at Riku. No...this couldn't have been happening! She looked over at her father and the gun, wondering if she could step between them again and keep him off Riku's back.

Riku saw the spells coming back, and that was when he used his Keyblade to put up a shield around him completely. He winced when the spells were reflected, his own power being used against him, but it was just a trick Jihl used. But he would counter it. He fired Dark Aura at Cedric to stall him, seeing it work as he went for Jihl, engaging her in combat.
While Riku went to engage Jihl, Lightning pushed herself away from the wall and walked back to a position she was growing to be familiar with. She stood between Cedric and Riku, though she didn't make a move to attack her father. First off, how could she? He had her weapon. And secondly, a part of her didn't want to believe that he really was evil. Yet she believed it enough to act as Riku's shield for now.
