Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Point being that your heart is a victim to the Darkness if you don't stop hiding behind your shell," Riku said, putting it bluntly. "Been there, and it nearly killed me. I doubt that's a fate you rea

Lightning gasped softly at the threat, but there wasn't anything she could do about it right now. Again, she assumed that if she lost her consciousness, there wasn't much that her father could do to hurt her. She came closer and closer to unconsciousness, praying it would take her under before he could awaken her again.

Cedric released his daughter in fury, seeing that she was starting to go under. "So weak!" he spat in disgust, looking down at his daughter as he stood above her. "This was not how I raised you. You're meant to be stronger than this, Claire! Toughen up!" He wouldn't take this. She was too weak. She had to be stronger.

Riku heard Cedric yell at Lightning through the radio, and he only hung his head. Thirty minutes of the whipping and he was already exhausted from fighting it. But he had to. He had to stay quiet. He wouldn't faint from this; it would show he was weak. He was much stronger than Jihl thought he was. Slashing him with that whip wasn't going to change that.

While Lightning remained in limbo between consciousness and unconsciousness, Jihl kept her gaze on Riku. "That's a type of pain I could never inflict," she stated in reference to what was going on with Lightning. "A father threatening to break his daughter's arm because she's weak...Terrible, isn't it?" Of course, it was only terrible for Riku and Lightning. For Jihl and Cedric, things were beginning to turn in their favor.

Riku didn't speak, hissing through his teeth as he breathed. He was in pain, Lightning was in pain... Physical and emotional for both of them. He wasn't sure whose was worse, but his definitely wasn't pleasant by any means. He tugged at the ropes, but it only hurt him more.

Jihl hummed, almost sympathetically, to Riku. "You can't stop the pain by escaping," she said, seeing him tugging at the ropes. "But you can save her in another way." She stepped up close to Riku, nearer to his face even if he was barely on the ground. "Tell me her weakness, Riku," she whispered, voice sinister. "Tell me and both your torture sessions will be over."

Riku squeezed his eyes shut at the words, hating them. He would never reveal Lightning's weaknesses to Jihl. Her safety was too important for that. Riku would endure the pain to make sure of that. "Get away from me," Riku snarled. There was no way he was telling Jihl anything.

Jihl didn't follow Riku's order; she didn't even respond to it directly. "I had hoped you would cooperate a bit more when it's her body on the line." She looked down at her cloak, seeing the microphone she wore to pick up what was going on in this room for Cedric to hear. And now she was about to convey another message to him. "Break her arm again." Maybe that would encourage Riku to be kinder to Jihl.

Riku's eyes widened immediately. "No!" he cried in horror. "No, don't!" He was sure he could be heard on the end of the radio, but he only heard a snap from Lightning's end. Riku stiffened instantly, terror in his eyes.

Lightning cried out in pain, lying on her side now instead of her stomach. The only good thing about this was that her father didn't touch her good arm; he only did more damage to her already broken arm. But the pain... She muffled herself after a few moments, knowing that Riku was still listening in. She couldn't show the extent of her pain and make him feel worse...

Jihl spoke to Riku again once Lightning's cry faded out. "Let's try this again, Riku," she said evenly. "After all, Lightning has two perfectly good legs that we could also break. Along with fingers, toes...heck, we might even break her neck at this rate." If they had no clue how to make Lightning submit to Xehanort's spirit, then she was useless to them. She may as well have been dead.

Riku lifted his chin to glare at Jihl, and hearing what she said only infuriated him more. "Shut up!" he roared, tightening his fists and lifting his legs. He placed both on Jihl's chest and pushed, forcing her away from him. He wouldn't just hang here and listen to that!

Jihl grunted when she landed on her back, eyes vicious on Riku. He just didn't get it, did he? "Apparently her pain isn't enough to sway him," she said to Cedric. "You'll most likely have to get her to submit and spill her secrets herself." She would break Riku down, but even then, she wasn't expecting much out of him. He was a stubborn fool to be lashing out at the one who controlled Lightning's fate.

Cedric heard Jihl and agreed with what she said. Riku was tough, but unfortunately Lightning wasn't the same. She was weak, and it infuriated him. "Claire," he said. "I won't tolerate this any longer. You will agree to join us, or Riku dies." The threat with Serah didn't seem to be enough to sway her. Threatening the one who held his daughter's heart was his only other choice.

Lightning didn't react to her father, knowing her logic from earlier rang true. If she was unconscious, they couldn't threaten her with such things. Riku would only be killed if she didn't respond the right way, and if she didn't respond at all, then they'd wait until she could. Her body began to slump on the floor, more than it already was. This had to be convincing...

"Claire!" Cedric boomed, pushing on her broken arm with his foot. She was being a brat if he had ever seen one, and it would not be tolerated. "Jihl, do your worst. She is misbehaving." Riku would suffer because of Lightning's foolishness.

"With pleasure," Jihl piped. She turned down the volume on her radio so that only she could hear what was going on in her earpiece. Riku was going to be left in the dark concerning Lightning for a little while. She pulled back the whip and struck him harshly, hoping that progress could be made soon. Hearing Lightning cry out did impact Riku--it brought him closer to his breaking point. She could see it in his eyes.

Riku felt the whip strike his chest, already cutting into one of his open wounds. He cried out in pain, but he wouldn't do anything more. He wouldn't talk, that much Jihl could count on. He couldn't hear what was happening with Lightning, but he would try to keep things quiet on his end. Lightning didn't deserve to hear his pain. It would only hurt her more.

Lightning couldn't hide a cringe when she heard Riku in pain again. Hearing him cry out...It made her want to accept her father's terms. They would kill him if she didn't give in! And Serah too! Once she lost the two of them, she'd join the enemy anyway. Without those two, there really wasn't anything worth living for.

Cedric heard Riku's cry echo through the empty room, and he looked down at his daugher in silence. He hoped she was happy now. Because of her, Riku was being tormented. And Jihl wouldn't hold back. "What more incentive do you need, sweetheart?" he asked lowly, peering down at Lightning. "Is his pain not good enough for you?"

"Stop it," Lightning pleaded softly, not looking up at her father as she finally opened her eyes. She could feel blood dripping down her arm underneath her coat; one of the broken bones must have pierced the skin. But that was the least of her concerns. Right now, Riku was her largest concern. Her reason for nearly giving in.

Cedric heard another crack of the whip and then a roar of pain from Riku, but he didn't even flinch. He waited for Claire to respond to him in something other than a plea. She needed to toughen up. She needed to be a soldier. Throughout the years, he witnessed her strength and believed in her. But now, she was proving him wrong. That couldn't happen.

Lightning slowly sat herself up, a hand lightly coming up to grip her hurt arm. The blood drizzled down her fingers to the concrete floor, but she didn't notice it. Riku's cries were echoing throughout the room. "...What would you do with him if I agreed to join you?" she asked quietly without looking up at her father. Hopefully now that he saw she wasn't just defying them, he'd be a little more merciful. To both her and Riku.

Cedric looked down at Claire for a moment, contemplating the answer to that question. Xehanort wanted Riku gone, since he was a nuisance, but he was one of the seven Lights. In order to forge the X-blade, he was needed. "We'll spare his life," he said then. They had to, in order for the plan to work.

"Would I be able to say goodbye?" Lightning asked quietly. She knew it would be harder to leave Riku after saying goodbye, but...She wanted to see his face just one last time. To say sorry for betraying him in advance. She would be joining his enemy... And he'd probably have to put her down. Her eyes grew moist at the thought, but she didn't cry.

Jihl laughed softly, putting the whipping on hold as she listened into the conversation going on between Cedric and his daughter. "She's giving in," she commented to the Keyblade wielder. "I guess she's not great at handling emotional pain, hm?" They should have figured that out before, when she found out the truth about her mother and acted as if she were in physical pain.

Cedric knelt down next to his daughter, lifting a hand to tuck back some of her pink hair. "Of course, sweetheart," he said softly. Now that she was giving in, she deserved better treatment. "I know the boy has your heart. But you'll only have a short amount of time. We need to get back to the Castle."

Riku stared down at the ground with heavy-lidded eyes, breathing heavily to fight the pain that was burning in his back and in his chest. He had undergone the torture for only a little while. But...did Jihl really have all her fun yet? Just because Lightning gave in, he was free? That didn't make any sense!

"It'll continue, don't you worry," Jihl assured Riku, seeing his expression. If he believed that his torture was over, then he was sadly mistaken. "I'm just contemplating which form of torture I should use right now. Should I continue to beat you, or allow you to hear Lightning making her last request to see you?" Decisions, decisions.

Lightning nodded softly, feeling Cedric tuck back her hair the same way he did as when she was a child. The same way that Riku did it now. "How do I know you'll really let him go?" she asked quietly. How could she trust him after all the lies?
