Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Despite her doubting, when Lightning rose to her feet, she wandered over to the weapon and picked it up. She blankly held it in her right hand before she shifted her gaze to Riku. Words weren't really needed, once again. Everything was just such a huge mess in this world. She wanted to go somewhere and never have to face this horrific reality again. One where her father and Riku were enemies.

Riku held his hand out for Lightning, having moved to the door when she went to get her weapon. Her weapon... It sounded bizarre, but it was true. The gunblade was hers now. She earned it. But she wouldn't be needing it where they were going.
Lightning wordlessly started over towards Riku, slipping her hand into his when she was close enough. It was her left hand, so some blood lingered on it from earlier. Thankfully the blood on her cheek had been washed away by her tears, and Riku's face was mostly clean of blood too. But if her expression was anything like his, then they both looked terrible anyway. He was tortured for a few hours and she...She supposed she was tortured too.

Riku ignored the blood that lingered on Lightning's hand, instead leading her out of the room and into the city. He would follow through with his plan to use the portal and then go from there. It was the safest route, and their only route. But Lightning's hand would never leave his. After what they both just experienced, they were staying together.
As they made their way through the city, Lightning noticed that it wasn't raining now. But it was still as dark and gloomy as ever, and puddles were on the ground from previous downpours. When a heartless about half her size rose out of one of them, she didn't even flinch. Heartless were nothing compared to the evil she just faced. And besides, this wasn't her first time seeing them.

Riku summoned his Keyblade to his free hand, and since it wasn't his sword arm, he casted a Fire spell toward the Heartless. It screeched and then faded away, the enemy not as strong as Riku. He made his way through the city wordlessly, swinging at any Heartless that got in his way.
Lightning and Riku didn't exchange words while in the city; they both seemed distracted by other things. It was obvious that Lightning was distracted by her father not only being alive, but being evil. Evil enough to have murdered her mother a few years ago and make it look like a suicide. She could spend forever thinking about that, not because she wanted to, but because it was that shocking and raw. That was her distraction; what was Riku's?

Riku managed to reach the portal without any trouble aside from the Heartless. Once he saw it, he went through it without any hesitation. His grasp tightened on Lightning's hand when they went through, showing up in the realm between that of Light and Darkness. He continued on wordlessly, knowing that they still had a ways to go.
Lightning grunted slightly at the new area with multiple colors floating around. She couldn't even see the ground that she was walking on; it looked just like everything. She wasn't necessarily scared by it, just unnerved. After all, she had never been off her home world before yesterday, and this place wasn't anything like home. It instinctively made her walk closer to Riku's side as she finally paid attention to her surroundings again.

Riku glanced at Lightning when she moved a little closer. "We have a little bit of a walk," he told her, his grasp still secure on her hand. They didn't necessarily have to be on guard. Since no Nobodies were around to control them, Dusks wouldn't be showing up. It would be an easy trip.
Light looked up at Riku, nodding once in silence. That was the first communication that they had in a while; they hadn't spoken since they left the place Jihl dragged Riku to. She wasn't surprised to hear it was a long walk still, but it didn't make her happy either. She was tired, and surely Riku was too. That was why she finally asked the question lingering in the back of her mind. "You okay?" Or, rather, was he going to be okay to walk the distance? That was how the question would fit into the conversation, but she really just wanted to know if he was alright in general.

Riku nodded, not speaking his thoughts. He was a little scarred, probably physically and emotionally. But he had almost died against Xemnas in the past. He would be fine. Riku tore his eyes from Lightning's as they continued to walk, silence surrounding them as the colors around them swirled.
Lightning looked down at her feet, seeing that they were dragging a little bit as they walked. It wasn't that she was purposely slowing down; the urgency was just diminished now that they were out of that dark world. She knew one thing for sure: She and Riku were going to need a lot of time to recover from what occurred back there. Even if he said he was okay, she could tell he wasn't.

Riku and Lightning walked for another half hour before he saw the next portal. He and Lightning took it, arriving in the alternate Twilight Town. From there, Riku programmed the computer to transfer them to the real Twilight Town. Once they were out in the woods, Riku felt a little better. Fresh air always did do him good.

Once she and Riku were walking in the woods of Twilight Town, Lightning couldn't help but look around. Everything was just so...different. If she had come here first, she would have appreciated it more. But as things were, she couldn't. Her father was alive and evil. He broke her arm earlier today, and then showed tenderness when she was in his favor...That wasn't okay. None of this was okay.

Riku kept his hand in Lightning's, his Keyblade no longer in his grasp. He didn't sense any threats on Twilight Town at all...which was great. It was a relief more than anything, since Riku didn't really have the energy to fight right now. He was sure Lightning didn't either. They both experienced terrible torment. Exhaustion was to be expected.
"...How much further?" Lightning asked quietly as they reached the end of the woods. She didn't want to pester Riku with questions; he was surely as tired--no, more tired, than she was. At least he had some experience with this stuff, but still. Today wasn't kind to either of them.

"A block or two until we reach the station," Riku explained lowly, approaching the crack in the wall and leading Lightning through. "Then we'll take the train to Master Yen Sid's." From there, they would take a Gummi Ship and head to see King Mickey. There, they would finally be safe.

Lightning dared to ask Riku another question, her eyes up on him. She blinked at first because of the brighter light, then adjusted. "Who?" she inquired. Master Yen Sid? She never heard of him before, but Riku seemed quite familiar with him just by how he said his name.

"He trained King Mickey, and he trained me and Sora," Riku said, looking over at Lightning as they walked through Twilight Town. "He put us through our Mark of Mastery test a few months ago." That was why he had to leave so suddenly. Master Yen Sid sensed an impending threat and called them in.
Lightning silently prayed that Riku bear with her, because his answer just brought on so many more questions. She didn't know much about King Mickey, or the Keyblade. Or whatever test Riku just referred to. "Mark of Mastery..." she repeated, setting her gaze forward again. What the heck was that?

Riku smiled a little at Lightning's confusion, finding it humorous despite what all they went through. "It tests our strength with the Keyblade," he told her lowly, continuing to lead her through town. "It's a really long story." All of the stuff that happened there... It was difficult to explain.
Lightning looked over just to see Riku's smile. Even if he was amused at her confusion, she didn't care. Not today. "Later, then," she said softly. He didn't have to tell her a long story when he was clearly so tired. Or at all, she supposed. It was his choice, his business.

"Later," Riku replied with a small nod, agreeing to that. He gazed at Lightning for another moment before focusing forward, the two of them approaching the incline to reach the station. It would cost a little bit to get a ticket, but he would cover it. He had some money on him from the past month of fighting Heartless and tracking down Xehanort.
Light realized upon entering the train that Riku hadn't let go of her hand for a single second since taking it. Not even when he was beating away Heartless, or entering data into a computer, or paying for train tickets. And not now as they sat down on a train that was only the two of them. It may have seemed ridiculous on a normal day, but today was anything but normal.
