Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku sighed once he was sitting down, leaning his head back against the window as the purple train started out of the station. He kept his hand in Lightning's, not once letting go. She wasn't leaving his side, or his sight. Not after what he heard....
After a few minutes, Lightning realized they'd probably be on the train for a while. So she carefully changed her position to get more comfortable. She didn't want to lean against Riku's chest in case he was still hurting, so she laid down across the bench and rested her head in his lap instead. With eyes half-open, she gazed forward at the empty row. This place felt safe...Finally, she was in a place that somehow felt perfectly safe.

Riku lifted his hand to rest on Lightning's shoulder, his thumb rubbing over her jacket. He was glad that right now they were having a time of peace. They needed it. For the past day, everything had been chaotic. Once they reached Disney Castle, then Riku could really relax.

Lightning eventually allowed her eyes to flicker shut, though she wasn't anywhere close to falling asleep. Tired as she was, sleep was going to ellude her for a while. She had a hand set on Riku's knee now, and her thumb also moved in a circular motion against the fabric of his jeans. He was safe, finally. And so was she.

Riku wanted nothing more than to fall asleep at that moment, but he knew that he didn't have time to rest. Not yet, anyway. By the time he actually got to sleep, they would be at Master Yen Sid's. Until they reached Disney Castle, Riku and Lightning both needed to stay awake.
It was surprisingly easy for Lightning to fall asleep; the train had no stops to jolt her awake. When it finally did stop moving, it took her a minute or two to force herself to move. She was surprised that she dosed off, but looking up and seeing that Riku did the same was even more surprising. How long had they both been out?

Riku had his head back against the window still, eyes shut as he remained between consciousness and unconsciousness. The jolt from the train woke him up a little more, and he lifted his head to look out the window. Master Yen Sid's was right outside. "Light," he said softly, looking down to meet her gaze. They needed to get to that tower.
Light easily deciphered the message before she sat herself up. When she rose to her feet, she realized that she felt just as tired as before, if not more. But they were at Master Yen Sid's tower. Things had to start getting better from here, didn't they?

Riku pushed himself up from his seat and took Lightning's hand again, leaving the train with her. He glanced behind him when he heard a noise, and that was when the train disappeared. "Well, there goes our ride," he said softly. If they needed to get back to Twilight Town for any reason, they would have to take another route.
Lightning looked over her shoulder, humming in recognition to Riku's statement. He was right; their way back into town was gone. They were stuck here. If this was enemy territory, that would have been really unnerving. Thankfully Riku didn't seem nervous about being stranded here.

Riku released a small breath before starting forward, approaching the tall tower. When he got to the front door, he released Lightning's hand to open it for her. The spiraling staircase was waiting just inside, and so was Master Yen Sid. Riku had a feeling he was expecting their arrival.
Lightning looked around in wonder, her gunblade still in her hand. She needed a case for it if she was going to carry it around. But of course, her focus was elsewhere. This place was nothing like the rest of the world. By the third staircase, though, she broke through her own feelings of wonder. "It might be worthwhile to invest in an elevator," she joked weakly. This was a very tall tower.

"Hmph," Riku grunted in amusement, placing a hand on Lightning's shoulder as he passed her. "I'll mention that to Master Yen Sid." They were right in front of his door, anyway. Riku approached the door and knocked, then pushing it open. He stepped in, smirk gone and eyes hard with seriousness. With Master Yen Sid, joking was set aside.

Master Yen Sid sat at his desk, seeing Riku before he saw Lightning behind him. Of course he knew that there were two of them; he knew as soon as they got on the train that they were coming to see him. He only knew the girl through what Kairi told him when she stopped in previously; she had said that the Organization captured Lightning to use against Riku and then began to consider her for a thirteenth vessel. Troubling news, but interesting all the same. He nodded silently to Riku, his serious expression say it all. I've been expecting you.

"Master Yen Sid," Riku said, bowing slightly in respect for the man. He then stepped aside, so Lightning could come in the room. "Sorry for dropping in, but we need a favor." A Gummi Ship was all Riku needed. He just wanted to get Lightning to safety. Pure safety.

Master Yen Sid witnessed Lightning step into the room beside Riku, giving a slightly awkward bow as she followed Riku's lead. "I expect you'll be requesting a Gummi Ship," he stated, looking from Lightning to Riku. He had to admit, he expected someone different in appearance than Lightning. Kairi said that Riku cared for this girl, and Master Yen Sid deducted that Riku wouldn't like a girl who was small and frail, as they often were helpless in battle. Yet the weapon and how high she held her chin made up for her petite size. The look in her eyes was also battle-worn, but so was Riku's, for more obvious reasons.

"Yes," Riku answered with a nod. He wasn't sure how Master Yen Sid knew these things, but he always did have the ability to see things before they happened and know things before he was told. Riku wouldn't question him, though. His help was needed, and Riku would take it if it was offered.

"Kairi appeared before me earlier," Master Yen Sid stated, hands folded before him as he looked at Master Riku and Lightning. "She told of how you were all separated in The World That Never Was." She wasn't sure what to do after arriving to Master Yen Sid, so he gave her a Star Shard and told her that it would govern her path. Sometimes the stars had more wisdom than mortal men.

Riku's eyes widened at the mention of his friend. "Kairi's safe?" he asked, relief in his tone. He was so...glad. She made it out of the Castle. He wasn't sure how, but he learned not to underestimate her lately. She was stronger than everyone thought.

"So far as I know," Master Yen Sid responded with a nod. "She departed from here quite some time ago to continue on her journey." Whether it was tracking down Roxas and assisting to protect him or trying to stop the inevitable by defeating one of Xehanort's vessels, he didn't know. All he could do was have faith that she would be able to walk on her path.

Riku nodded in silence, lowering his gaze from Master Yen Sid to the floor as he thought about that. He had completely forgotten about Kairi and Sora, or Roxas and Namine. He was so busy worrying about Lightning that he didn't even think about them. He imagined they were all okay. Namine was safe with Roxas, and Sora could take care of himself. And to know that Kairi was safe was reassuring. The fact that she was on her own worried Riku.

"Where do you plan on going?" Master Yen Sid asked Riku in seriousness. He would give him transportation, but Riku needed to remember what their primary concern here was. Xehanort was very close to assembling his thirteen, while they were struggling to gather their seven. Sora was hopefully searching for Aqua and Ventus now, but that still would not bring them to the size they needed.

"Xehanort's targeting Lightning, so I need to get her somewhere safe," Riku said, lifting his eyes once again to those of Master Yen Sid. "I figured the King's world would be the best place. The Cornerstone of Light provides the most security." It was a logical conclusion to make. Riku wanted to get there right away.

Master Yen Sid frowned, looking down at his hands. "Unfortunately...That is no longer true." He looked up at Riku, eyes serious as ever. "We did not feel a need to tell you this, but while you and Sora were asleep, Maleficent somehow appeared within the world and threatened Queen Minnie. Though she was forced away, the world does not offer the same security that it once did. Nobody has any idea how she managed to break the world's security."

Riku's eyes sharpened immediately, his hands curling into tight fists. "I'm guessing that's where the King is now," he said lowly. He was protecting his kingdom the best he could. Riku wished he could help, but he had enough on his hands. He had to find a new place to take Lightning.
